Overcoming Individual, Business, and Social Ego that Leads to Infinite Possibility
Just as an individual evolves by overcoming his limited sense of self (ego) and enjoins the needs of others around him so to the business overcomes it's limited sense of self  -- e.g. by involving its customers heavily in it
's decision, by participating in the needs of society when considering new products, etc. --  and so too the nation state overcomes its limiting self-importance and enjoins the nations of the world  -- e.g. global trade, cultural, global harmony, world unity, and other possibilities.

When an individual or social entity overcomes its separateness and ego, there is an opening to the widest and greatest possibilities, up to infinite. This is so because by overcoming ego one moves to the domain of unity, harmony, connectedness, which is in essence a connection to the spirit, the infinite Divine essence. There one enters the realm of infinite possibility.

Ultimate Sales Approach
-For the salesman to know the customer's point of view, the direct result will be higher sales. For the customer to take the salesman's point of view is to bring home greater value of enjoyment for his money value.

-Shifting from his own point of view to that of the customer will expand the energy of sales. (MSS)

-The best way to sell is to forget one's own benefit, and completely think of the well-being of the customer. If that can be consecrated and values like Silent Will are present, then life can respond with an abundant sale up to the infinite.

-Any known defect in oneself such as lack of precision or expansiveness converted into precision or psychological expansiveness will have salutary effects on the sales volume.

-The attitude of taking changing into an attitude of giving, suspicion into trust, stinginess into generosity is powerful.  (MSS, somewhat modified)

Internet and Values
Although some people decry the absence of values on the Internet, by which they mean the lack of control over the suitability of content, the Internet actually embodies high and strong values from which it derives an almost irresistible strength. These include physical values such as speed, timeliness, efficiency and productivity; organizational values such as standardization, systemization, coordination, integration and communication; and psychological values such as equality of access, public service and empowerment of the individual. (MSS)

How a Company Transcends Ego
When the company overcomes its limited sense of self, it's ego if you will, it opens to the possibilities of infinite growth and accomplishment. A company can go beyond its own ego in many ways; by closely connecting to its customers, by related to the aspirations of society (in terms of products, in terms of pure concern for the well-being of the society), and in other ways. When a business goes beyond its own ego, it opens to the dimensions of connectedness, unity, and harmony. These dimensions are actually manifestations of the underlying spiritual harmony and force that underscores all life. This spiritual force is infinite and has the power of infinite potential. So when the business overcomes ego, and connects to what is outside itself it opens to the spiritual planes of life, which open the doors to infinite accomplishment (e. sales, profits, delight). (This same principle holds for the individual as well as for any social institution, or society itself.)

Types of Energy that Achieves
Jolly men of great energy who enjoy the social interactions of life are often the most successful business leaders. This is business success born of energy and animated life. Energy driven my mental focus can create even more success. Spiritual energy has the greatest capacity to achieve; to achieve literally infinitely.

How Products and Technology Arise
Once there is an approval of a new idea, and some organization emerges to support it, trade and commerce take it up as they see a new opportunity. This is how new products or technology arise. (Paraphrase of MSS)

Losing the Advantage

Toyota Motors was riding high for years, leading the pack in auto sales around the world. Recently, however, it has stumbled. The Economist gave many reasonable explanations, focusing on marketing and financing deficiencies, the woeful state of the economy, and others. Nowhere did they mention what made the company special in the first place in recent years -- their Prius, hybrid cars that goes much further on a gallon of gas than other vehicles. They were in the forefront of green technology.

From my perspective, they were all too content to sell a million or so of the hybrid vehicles a year, with the overwhelming majority of sales still going to the normal, non-hybrid autos. There was no compulsion to change their ways, as they had a good solid business, and there was no obvious competition. Yet it is their complacency and self-satisfaction regarding the hybrid that "attracted" from life many of their other problems. I.e. though they had the opportunity to sell millions of these vehicles a year, and upgrade the technology in the interim, they chose the safe, well-travelled way. Yet by doing so, they moved out of step with the world; not to mention their own selves. In the heart of their being, in their deepest values to best serve the society, they lost the 'inner advantage.' Life then responded in negative fashion though recent losses and their loss of confidence.

Now competitors have taken up the slack, and in response, Toyota has decided to join the fray of plug-in hybrids; technology that triples mileage per gallon. Competition has woken them out of their slumber. But they might have lost the opportunity to dominate this market as they have had with non plug-in hybrids. They were complacent, got caught up in the habit and routine (of selling a million of the same vehicles), losing touch with their values of service, innovation, and leadership.

It is a lesson for all of us in business, as well as in our personal lives.
