Our Potential to Achieve and Grow

Introduction

Mystery of Accomplishment
Accomplishment is a mystery. Very often we are unable to see the relationship between our actions and their consequences. Sometimes our efforts are quickly and generously rewarded by life. Occasionally the rewards come even before we complete the required action. At other times, the more and the harder we try, the farther we seem to be from our goal. Then there are inexplicable moments when a work that was proceeding smoothly suddenly runs into trouble or a work that was stalled just as suddenly takes off. At rare moments, the veil concealing the mystery of accomplishment is lifted for a moment, revealing to us its deeper secrets. (MSS)

All Achievement, Growth is Inner

Achievement is Inner
Achievements begin and end inwardly. The outer is only an expression. (MSS)

Key to Accomplishment
The key to accomplishment in life is the organization of our inner selves for success.

Life Rewards Who You are Inside
Life rewards not for your work, but for what you are inside.
(MSS)

Achievement, Genius Comes from Within, Not Outside
All that a man achieves emanates from his mind, not from his external experience. The West has made the cardinal error of mistaking the effect for cause. Where does the Genius, be it Ramanujam or Einstein get his knowledge? It comes from INSIDE. (MSS)

You Achieve that Which You Believe You Can Achieve

You Become What You Believe
You are only limited to that which you believe you can become. You become that which you believe you can become.

We Become What We Believe
"
We become what we believe we can become." (Bhagavad-Gita).

You Become What You Believe You Can Become
Could it be that how we view ourselves or the institutions we partake of is only a mental belief? That if we were to change the belief, the reality would also change? If this is true, and we think it is, then any individual can alter the course of his or her life, enabling vast, unimagined success and joy; and any institution can become a dynamic, energized, rapidly growing paragon of success.

So ask yourself this: If it is true that you become in life that which you believe you can become, then what limited beliefs about yourself or your company do you have? Think hard on this. It could determine the very course of your life.

Infinite Potential for Achievement, Growth

We Can Achieve Our Belief in the Infinite Possibilities
If we know our infinite nature, we can believe in that, and thus achieve infinitely.

The Spiritual Basis of Our Infinite Potential
Because we are born of spirit, all planes of our being are infinite if we can learn to perceive that reality

Infinite Potential
We are infinite in nature, and we can manifest that in our lives as infinite accomplishment, success, and happiness.

Untitled
There is no limit to what we as a person or as a society can achieve. We are only limited by our own belief systems. "We become what we believe we can become." (Bhagavad-Gita).

No Limits
Nothing is limited unless we put a limit on it. (MSS)

Infinite Results
We are infinite in nature, and we can manifest that in our lives as infinite accomplishment, success, and happiness.

Infinite Potentials
Individuals have infinite potential for accomplishment and joy. Also every moment in one's life there is infinite potential for accomplishment. Be on the lookout for infinite possibilities!

Untitled
It is one thing to perceive the infinite potential of life; it is another to utilize the rules of accomplishment to see it come about as infinite results in one's life. It is the difference between the right to something that can give you power, and using that right to actually attain that power. (Paraphrase of MSS)

Practical Concept of Infinity
This principle essentially means that you can accomplish and succeed in life to literally an infinite degree if you make contact with and then open yourself to the spiritual powers of the Divine Reality.

Going within in essence enables you to begin to really realize the principle of the ''practical concept of infinity;" that all of the infinite potentials of life can be made real, can be embodied by you in your life as a practical reality. Infinite abundance and success and joy can really happen. By going to the depths, we begin to move from what we perceived as a finite life to the real experience of an infinite life, as infinite abundance, prosperity, achievement, success, and joy.

Levels at Which We Can Achieve, Grow

Levels of Accomplishment
Individuals can accomplish at various levels - at the level of survival, growth, development, and evolution.

Survival, Growth, Development and Evolution
Life exists in the grades of survival, growth, development and evolution. An agriculture society changing into an industrial society is evolution. A famine stricken population avoiding extinction by its brave struggle is survival. A middle class family that faces a slide down into a lower class fighting back successfully is also survival.

An empty house of a middle class family acquiring all consumer durables is growth. A self-employed person having moved into that position from salaried employment is development. (MSS)

Evolution that is Beyond Survival
Practical knowledge is the physical capacity to survive. In Evolution survival is taken for granted and built on. Relying on survival is dangerous. As you evolve, the base of survival needs to be reconstituted with new consciousness. (MSS)

Untitled
As soon as Man rises to the next level that level partially descends on the previous level.

Individual Trying to Avail of Opportunities of Society
The individual in his growth tries to avail of the opportunities created by society. The opportunities for individual accomplishment are determined by what the society permits. The maximum is determined by what society sanctions. The minimum is determined by individual capacity. Individuals who fall below the social minimum socially perish. In rare instances, individuals try to outreach the society and the society puts up resistance.

Individual capacity is determined by the skills, attitudes, beliefs, values, character and aspirations of each individual.

The availability of social opportunities and the ability of the individual to avail of them combine to determine the ultimate outcome. (MSS)

What Level Do We Want to Achieve, Grow At?

Increase Your Aspiration in Life
Energy is a product of one's will. The more will, the more energy. But what creates will in life? It is created by your aspirations in life. Whenever you aspire for something it creates the will that energizes. If you don't have energy, consider if you are lacking aspiration in life. Then consider how to attain aspiration. Think about what you would like to accomplish in life, what opportunities are out there, what you would like to achieve, what you would like to learn, and so forth. When you find what you want, you will feel aspiration rise, which will stir the will, and energize your being.

Rise to the Peak of Accomplishment at Your Current Level of Efficiency
A question arises when one is on the path to higher levels of accomplishment and success: How high should I am to improve myself? You should enter at the maximum level where you are positively organized, and do so with full intensity. By "positively organized" we mean where you have the full complement of skills, knowledge, energy, will, time, finance stability, systemization, personal organization, etc. etc. This is your level of efficiency. You should then start at the maximum possible area (given the above constraints) where you can more efficiently function; and then, on the way toward that achievement, aim at the peak of what can be accomplished in your undertaking. (Paraphrase of MSS)

Envision
Envision who you are at ten times your current functioning. Can you bring it into focus? Can you hold that image in your mind as a silent visual yantra of life?

Process or Accomplishment
Aspiration releases energy, Will directs energy to become force, Organisation changes force into usable power, and skills create results out of power. (MSS)

Untitled
At the beginning of each day we must ask ourselves if we are truly committed to taking a step forward today, or if we are resigned to accepting our current status, habits and preoccupations.

A High Ideal of Motivation
The one MOTIVATION of man is to be constantly better than before. Spiritually it is a great ideal. (MSS)

General Determinants of Achievement and Growth

Practical and Spiritual-like Qualities that Enable Success

The practical means by which we accomplish and garner success is through aspiration/intention, will, organization, strength, skills, knowledge, focus, discipline, hard word, self-motivation, delegation, right handling money of money, positive attitudes, personal values, etc.

The spiritual-like means to success are emotional calm, patience, mental silence, self-givingness, goodwill, gratitude, true individuality, functioning from our true selves, inner poise of witness, taking responsibility, getting at truth, honesty, sincerity, faith, opening to the spirit, having the subtle sense, reading life's signs, tolerance, generosity, affection, giving other's freedom, harmony, and oneness, to name a few.

We can each fill the void in what we are missing. Life will quickly, spontaneously respond to that effort.

Negative Expressions in Life

Accomplishment and growth are determined by fundamental and spiritual qualities of the individual, such as positive attitude, focused intention and will, psychological strength, organization, self-givingness, calm and equality in the face of difficulty, opening to the spirit and many others.

Lack of accomplishment and personal growth are due to its opposite; the wanting expressions of the person. In fact, negative expression can also attract sudden instance of negative life response, i.e. ill-fortune. Any attempt to overcome the negative traits will lead to greater accomplishment and fulfillment in life, including instances of sudden good fortune (life response, luck).

Evoking a Month's Earnings Every Day

We can earn what we now earn in a week or month in a single day. E.g. if you earn $3K in a month, you can earn that amount every day. How do we do this?

The first thing is to perfect the work we are involved it. We do that by raising our level of organization (cleanliness, orderliness, systemization, etc); by keeping our attitude positive; by having goals, and sustaining our focus and will over time; by making the full effort; by raising our level of skill and knowledge; by taking to high psychological and spiritual values like truth, honesty, patience, self-reliance, responsibility, punctuality, responsiveness, silence, calm, goodwill, and self-givingness.

In addition to raising these inner and outer determinants of accomplishment to the maximum we are capable of, we can also practice a critical spiritual skill. We can offer any activity we are about to engage in to the spiritual Force, thereby consecrating the act. This will set right the conditions of life, and together with the factors of accomplishment, generate an overwhelming inner power that will attract career and life changing conditions that will bring you the earnings of a month every single work day.

This combination of perfection and the spiritual Force will unfailingly attract the infinite potentials of life to the here and now.

On What Enables Accomplishment: Aspiration, Attitude, Motive, Result

Our aspiration offers the energies for our endeavours.

Our attitude gives us the organization for our aspiration.

Our motives fix the goal, width of operation and extent of achievement.

What comes to us shows what we are. (Karmayogi)

Right Consciousness vs. Long Effort in Attracting Great Results

It is not the time and effort you put into a work that elicits the results, but the consciousness you bring to the endeavor. A single moment of right consciousness can attract the results of a year of difficult, hard, time-consuming effort.

Changing Our Nature that Attracts 100-Fold Increase in Prosperity

In Sri Karmayogi's article 'Our Swabhava and Prosperity," He argues that the deeper the change we make in our being, the greater the outer result in the form of prosperity and success. He indicates that we can change at levels ranging from surface behavior, to changing our very character and nature, to making the soul connection within. When the change is made at the level of the Swabhava (the nature/character), the result is literally 100 times or more increase in prosperity, as the doors of the Infinite open up. (A soul change can have an even more overwhelming effect.)

How do we begin to make such a significant change? Sri Karmayogi indicates that we begin through Mind's recognition of that possibility; that a change in the nature will in fact bring about 100 times improvement in prosperity. When that recognition turns into a decision to change and then matures into a full commitment, powerful energies are released, which align with the very best conditions of life. I.e. life responds and the 100-fold improvement HAPPENS.

Values and Success

There is nothing that engenders success more that our commitment to and implementation of personal and social values.

Humility, Ego, and Sustained Success

The secret of SUSTAINED SUCCESS is HUMILITY. (Karmayogi)

Comment: Ego allows for some success; but it destroys SUSTAINED success.

Obstacles to Our Goals Enables Greatest Possibility

The greater the outer resistance, conflict, contradiction to our aspirations and goals, the greater the possibility for achievement and growth; i.e. the higher we can rise.

What We Aspire for Determines the Result

The key to our success and fulfillment is our Aspiration in life. We can trace several levels: At base we can aspire for a happy life, a successful marriage, mutual  love and shared interest, career success, financial security, and a degree of fame.

Higher still, we can aim to achieve something meaningful in the world, and to try to make a difference.

A level up still we can aspire to be a better person, try to implement higher personal and social values in life, and to work for the success and happiness of others.

The highest aspiration of all is to find the Spirit behind all existence, or discover our True Self and soul within, and utilize those spiritual resources to evolve ourselves. In that process, our evolution of consciousness can aid in bringing about a new and higher order of existence, that can culminate in the development of a new, more conscious Humanity; and if taken to its logical conclusion can bring about a spirit-oriented existence that Sri Aurobindo called a "Divine Life on Earth."

If what we aspire for is the ultimate determinant of what we can become, then what is your aspiration in life?

Effect of the Environmental Consciousness on Our Achievement

The environmental consciousness is that of forces and influences on the outside that can have a subtle and not so subtle effect on your own attempts to accomplish and succeed in life.

Keys to Accomplishment
The keys to great accomplishment in life are high energy, focused aspiration, intense will, psychological strength, personal organization, deep knowledge and skills, and determined, persevering physical effort.  The deeper keys are right attitudes (avoiding the negative ones) and high personal values. The spiritual keys are self-givingness, an inner poise of calm that breeds mindfulness, and opening to the spiritual Force. Taking to any of these in a higher order will also attract sudden good fortune.

Abilities to Accomplish
An individual's abilities to accomplish are determined by his capacities and character, which are made up of his skills, knowledge, attitudes, energies, attributes, endowments, and personal values. There are a number of factors within these categories that determine this capacities and character.

Priority of Individual Characteristics for Accomplishment
The requirements of accomplishment for an individual in order of importance are strength, organization and skills
.

Accomplishment, Knowledge, and Determination
The extent of accomplishment depends on the level of knowledge one has and the seriousness of its determination. (MSS)

Keys to Infinite Success in Life
Often when people reach the pinnacles of success it is because of a special gift or talent -- such as the ability to lead and inspire, or the capacity to develop a breakthrough product, or because they are driven to succeed. Other times, people reach the top simply because they make a steady, plodding effort in the course of their careers.

In research on what enables achievement in life, I have identified three levels of determining factors. The first contains the foundation -- i.e. the essentials for success. The second contains the more subtle, psychological factors that bring it about. And the third are the inner spiritual-like determinants of achievement. Let's examine each of these more closely.

The first level contains the foundation and essential determining factors for success in life. They include our ability to target specific goals we aim to accomplish; our intense desire and will that they come about; our level of personal organization; the talent and skill we bring to bear; and the psychological strength we demonstrate in the face of life's challenges. Aspiration, focus, will, organization, skill, and strength are thus the basic building blocks of success. Together they release enormous physical, vital, and mental energy that tends to attract vast success for that individual. Let's examine several theoretical examples.

Consider the case of Eliza Gonzales, who currently demonstrates these capacities in spades. She has a keen interest in becoming a project portfolio manager; has the intense drive to make it happen; is fully organized in all aspects of her life; has all the necessary skills to accomplish; and has an innate ability to persevere in the face of life's challenges. As a result, she has reached the very top of her field.

On the other hand, her collogue David Montaigne has not risen very far. Though he has had the aspiration and drive, he never developed the skills required of his position. Likewise, Sandra Lee, a co-worker of his, had the skills, but lacked the will and drive for achievement. Sanjay Aziz, a fourth member of the group, had the will and determination, but lacked focus in his life, as he was unable to formulate what he really wanted out of his career. Thus, where Eliza succeeded beyond measure, David, Sandra, and Sanjay plateaued at only modest levels of success.

The second group of factors that engender success are even more subjective and psychological. They take shape as our attitudes and personal values. In fact, if we examine Eliza's great success, we see that she excelled in both areas. E.g., colleagues often described how positive her attitudes were -- in particular, how she always looked on the bright side of things; how full of self-confidence she was; how she always took responsibility for problems rather than blaming others; and how she always happily accepted what life had put before her. In this way, her attitudes -- about herself, about others, and about life -- will exemplary.

That cannot be said of the others in the group, each of whom had one or more significant wanting attitudes. One colleague had problems getting along with several staffers; another was consistently unhappy with the work assigned to her; and a third had a cynical, constricted view of what he could accomplish. As a result, each were burdened by psychological constraints that prevented them from reaching their full potential.

In addition to her very positive attitudes, there was something else Eliza had in abundance -- highly developed personal values. Everyone noticed how tolerant she was; how she encouraged others' to express their opinions and make contributions; how committed she was to bridging the gap between the company and the surrounding community; and how dedicated she was for social change and improvement. Eliza's values and beliefs sharpened her aspirations in life, gave her focus and energy, and enriched every activity she engaged in. On the other hand, her colleagues had trouble formulating their guiding principles and values, which created an intensity and energy vacuum in their careers. This conspicuous absence of clearly defined and applied personal values kept these members of the group from ever moving beyond the mediocre.

Finally, the third group of factors that determine our success level consists of spiritual-like behaviors and values that tend to attract ultimate achievement. Among them are-

  • Our capacity to consciously seek out and embrace all sides of an issue, rather than just the one we are attached to.

  • Our ability to respond calmly and with equal poise to the difficulties and challenges that come our way.

  • Our ability to see negatives as positives in disguise, and adjust our behavior accordingly.

  • Our capacity to be selfless and self-giving towards others, instead of acting out of ego and selfishness.

  • Our ability to express our gratitude to others and towards life for all they have given us.

  • Our faith that all will turn out well; that in fact a Higher Power is working on our behalf.

  • Our ability to open to the spiritual Force before engaging in any act, which has the effect of bringing life under our control.

  • Our ability to think for ourselves, instead of being influenced by the herd.

  • Our capacity for self-scrutiny; i.e. our aspiration for personal growth and improvement.

  • Our desire to seek out life in full, and live a life of adventure and challenge.

All of the factors described above have one thing in common: they lead to ever-greater success in life. Taken together however, they generate an overwhelming power that brings about ultimate, infinite-like achievement. In fact, if we examine how such success comes to us, we will see that it arrives in two distinct fashions -- through the ''to-be-expected way" and through the ''life response way." The former means that as we embrace these achievement factors, we move ahead in a logical and practical way. E.g., people will take notice of our new behaviors, skills, actions, etc., and we are rewarded through the to-be-expected channels and unfoldings of life.

The life response method on the other hand operates much differently. In this reality, when we embrace one or more of the success factors -- particularly ones we are deficient in -- life instantly responds in kind, I.e. the very moment we change our inner orientation, life suddenly moves on our behalf, bringing us overwhelming good fortune. For example, if I shift away from my hostile attitude towards a co-worker, my boss suddenly appears in my office with word that I have been promoted to a much higher paying and satisfying job. This indicates the subtle, miraculous-like relationship between our inner selves and the world around us. When we change the inner, the outer instantly responds in kind.

If we can attract such powerful results by making these changes, then it only makes sense to take up the challenge. Therefore, why not review the success factors listed above, and come up with several areas where you are deficient. Then make the concerted effort to implement that change in your life. If you do, life will immediately start working on your behalf. That's precisely what happened to Eliza when she made the decision to both improve her level of cleanliness and orderliness, as well as reverse her negative attitude toward her boss. From that day on, her career began to really take off. You can do the same thing in your life, and you too will be taken to the stars!

Oblivious to Natural endowments Ensures Unfailing Success
Of the various aspects of unfailing success, one -- the capacity to be oblivious of one's natural endowment -- ensures the unfailing success for it. (MSS)

Making an Impact on the World
Blink and Tipping Point author Malcolm Gladwell indicates in his new book Outliers that those who have reached the pinnacles of success have done so because they were born at a particular time when vast opportunities presented themselves. He point out how Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, who are of the same generation, rose to the heights as new, emerging technologies began to appear in the computer and electronics fields. They were thus a product of their times. Gladwell also points out that it is those who actually seized emerging opportunities were the ones who climbed the pinnacles of success. For after all, millions are part of any given generation, yet it is only those who catch the emerging wave who are able to ride it to the top. Gladwell also suggests that local influences also helped forge their place in the history of their times. E.g., Bill Gates had access to a computer system as a young teen, something others were not fortunate to have had. Thus, the confluence of generational and local opportunity, plus the ability to seize the moment propelled these individuals to greatness in their fields.

At the Human Science project, a collaborative undertaking of members of Mother's Service Society (Pondicherry, India), Growth Online, and others, we address a multitude of emerging issues in the world, including the Character of Life, the Evolution of Society, the Nature of Money, and others. One other division of the site focuses on an understanding of the factors that enable individuals to change the world. We call this area 'Change Makers', and there I have begun to document the factors that have enabled noted individuals throughout history -- such as Elizabeth I, Martin Luther, Winston Churchill, Michael Gorbachev, Bill Gates, and Steve Jobs -- to rise to the pinnacles of success, vastly influencing society. There are the to-be-expected determinants of such great accomplishment, such as energy, intention, focus, drive, will, personal values, organization, determination, psychological strength, skills and knowledge, and right attitude. Also included are several factors addressed by Gladwell's Outliers, including generational possibilities, the current social support system for the individual, and most noteworthy, the ability to latch on to a great opportunity, enabling one to catch the emerging wave of society.

At the Change Makers section of Human Science, we also address other, less understood, more subtle forces that propel individuals to the top of their field and affecting society around them. These inner behaviors express through instances of "life response," i.e. sudden good fortune. For example, one individual in a given situation is able to control his emotions when his integrity is falsely attacked, which causes sudden positive developments to move in his direction. Another person reverses a cherished (false) belief, which again sets in motion positive events that conspire to take him to the top of his field. These subtle inner behavioral changes attract just those circumstances that give that person the opportunity and energy to rise to the society-influencing heights. Thus, it is not merely the obvious conditions that catapult one to the stars, but subtle changes of consciousness within.

How then can you practically benefit from these ideas? Are you interested in moving to the top of your field or having a major impact on the world around you. If so, then why not examine the variety of factors that enable it to happen. Look for several key determinants that you are deficient in, and then make a concerted effort to upgrade in those areas. As a result, life's circumstance will suddenly turn positive in ways you would never have imagined. Then you too can become a true Change Maker in your field and make a great impact on the world.

Organizing the Lower into the Higher for Accomplishment

Karmayogi says: “Accomplishment is the equilibrium between urge and restraint. Compulsion of the lower is the achievement of the higher. Man accomplishes in spite of himself.” What does he mean?

Originally or initially there is Man's urge, desire, compulsion to gain, garner, and survive in life. It is pure ego, selfishness, and greed, despite their apparent necessity at that stage of development. It even expresses as the need to dominate and conquer. It is "physicality" of the worst sort.

Yet it provides the Energy for Man to exist; as well as move forward and thrive.

For the latter to occur, Man is compelled to channel his energies for productive use, which he does through mental and vital organization. Through mental organization the modern individual establishes goals and gives direction to his life. Vital organization occurs when his plan to move forward is supported by a corresponding Will and Urge for its execution, which releases even more energy for its accomplishment.

That organizational process brings dynamism and harmony to that which was formerly diffused, as his energies are directed and concentrated, enabling him to accomplish. (Thus, greater accomplishment is facilitated by higher organization.)

Also, to the degree Man’s right Energies are brought to bear, i.e. the taking to a higher level of consciousness for that individual, life responds with sudden good fortune. Accomplishment thereby accelerates; even exponentially if the Spirit, the spiritual Force is also brought to bear.

Thus, Man succeeds despite himself; despite his physicality, ego, which are mixed up with his initial unorganized energies that are then channeled for a higher purpose, which emerge as his level of accomplishment.

This dynamic occurs not just in the past, but in the present and future as well. The equilibrium is the ongoing and ever-changing balance between the primal, physical urge to move up and the channeling of those energies for productive gain, which manifests as our level of accomplishment in life.

Give in Abundance to Receive
If you want encouragement in your life, give it to others.

If you want love, give it in every way to others.

If you want success, encourage it in others.

If you want to be happy, focus on the happiness of others.

If you want to receive, give to others in abundance.

General Determinants for Achievement/Accomplishment in Life
Among the overarching determinants and factors that affect our ability to achieve in life include-

  • our state of consciousness

  • our level of awareness and wherewithal

  • our awareness & perceptions of what is possible

  • our motives, beliefs, and values

  • to what degree we think things are possible

  • our aspirations, attitudes, decisions, and actions in life

  • the choices we make

  • our individual capacities (e.g. strength, skill, organization, aspiration, aspiration, will, etc.)

  • the positive and negative aspects of our being

  • the degree to which we are willing to change

  • the degree to which we are in touch with our true essence

  • the degree we perceive our purpose in life

  • whether we are self-determining (inner-directed) or outer (social) directed

  • our awareness of and ability to catch the emerging waves in society

  • the opportunities available to us from the outside

  • the environment into which we are born (e.g. the level of prosperity, education, drive of community)

  • the degree to which the society supports the growth of the individual

  • the current social forces positive and negative influence our efforts to achieve

  • whether the positive forces override the negative (within ourselves, from the outside, etc.)

  • our ability to hold down the negative forces, while reinforcing the positive ones in life

  • whether there is enough strength in the acts engaged in to move it to accomplishment

  • the quantity, quality, intensity of energy released in an act engaged in

  • the degree to which the process of accomplishment is engaged (vision to manifestation)

  • our understanding & utilization of our inner power to move the outer

  • our ability to make use of the hidden patterns of life (such as predecessor events, repeating acts, etc.)

  • our ability to create the greatest results with the least effort in the shortest period of time

  • our use of the spiritual power/Force to enable this ultimate efficiency of life

  • our ability to move from the finite, space, and time to infinite possibility that overcomes space and time

  • our ability to make life suddenly respond ("life response")

  • our use of spiritual powers (of silence, equanimity, self-givingness, consecrated action etc.)

  • the degree to which we connect to, open to, surrender to the Divine Reality and Intent

  • Our ability to bring the Being into the Becoming

Achievement Concerns, Limiting Attitudes, and Higher Consciousness Strategies

In our efforts to accomplish in life, we may recognize a number of legitimate concerns, as well as wanting attitudes on our part. They can be overcome when we apply right understanding and right consciousness, which is in essence to view things from the perspective of the Spirit. Below are several of those perceived obstacles to accomplishment, each matched by one or more corresponding strategies of higher consciousness:

Fear of Failure -- Embrace the Unknown. Have faith in the Divine, the spiritual Force.

Self Doubt -- The Infinite and soul are inside us. If we go deeper, we will find our true self. Doubt will cease. Constant opening and surrendering to the Divine will give us confidence as well.

Thinking only about Our Deficiencies -- Develop a happy, cheerful, positive attitude. Deepen the self by finding the Self.

Money Concerns to Achieve -- The inner consciousness and its beliefs achieves, not money. Money is the result.

Risk Involved in Such Investments -- Be open constantly to infinite possibilities. Develop the inner strength to follow the flow and embrace change. Also, if you follow the Process of Accomplishment (From vision to organization to action), risk will be minimized as you will know all the variables.

Quantity of Work is Increased, but Quality is Missing -- Being aware and executing higher values in the details will maximize quality, and thereby increase quantity!

Inability to Break Conventional Thinking -- We must evolve from the Social being to the True Individual who takes his cues from within, which we discover in the depths. From there we discover the deepest truths that enable us to apply the highest and widest personal and societal values. Be aware of and catch the wave of change in the environment and society.

Lack of Innovation -- Organizations can become stagnant and ossified just like we through our fixed habits and routines. Being open to doing things differently is to embrace the Unknown, which is a spiritual value.

Fear of Losing Work-Life Balance -- If we expand our energies, our perspective, we can make the pie vastly larger. Then there is room to balance a number of factors.

Fear of Relocating, Travelling Abroad Frequently (leaving the family alone) -- We must be open to everything – in time and space and place.

Fear of Fame -- It is lack of psychological strength in the substance of the nerves. We can build it up.

Fear of Competition -- The great achievers are inner directed, and care little about the competition.

Easy Going Attitude (e.g. being too soft) -- Psychological strength is the key to success and accomplishment in life.

Age Limitations (each believes that particular age is the right age to begin, else it is impossible) -- We can live from a deeper poise, in timelessness, where age is irrelevant. At any moment, at any age we have the power evoke the Infinite from the Finite.

Lack of Wisdom about Higher Ways to Success -- We can move from Ignorance to Integral Knowledge. Karmayogi has given every detail of how to make this happen.

To Accomplish a Work
The commonest question of serious people when they have to complete a work is, "What should I do?" It is a valid question. For the greatest effect, one needs to know his personality strength and weakness, the social situation he is in, the nature of the mission he is facing, and the attitude of the other person to the completion of the work. Knowledge is power. (MSS, slightly modified)

Achievement & Organization of Personality

  • One achieves only to the extent one's personality is ORGANISED.
  • What is it to organise one's personality?
  • We have several faculties. They can be centralised when they are unrelated. Faculties functioning independently produce the minimum.
  • One faculty uniting with another brings in extraordinary results.
  • A faculty integrating with another faculty brings out the maximum result from both. Coordinating ALL one's faculties so that each faculty produces its maximum result is to organise one's personality.
  • Put in ordinary words, a man who is intent on a result must direct all his energies harmoniously to achieve that result, called in the language single-minded devotion. (MSS)

Develop Our Capacities to Create Luck
When we develop our capacities and gain the external cooperation of life we create the conditions for luck; i.e. the propulsion to the next level of achievement, success, and fortune.

Keys to Job Satisfaction
Right attitude towards the job will bring job satisfaction for sure. What are those attitudes? Here are some that come to mind.

  • positive self-esteem

  • positive view of other workers

  • accepting the work before us

  • being optimistic in the face of challenge

  • non-egotism

Give in Abundance to Receive
If you want encouragement in your life, give it to others.

If you want love, give it in every way to others.

If you want success, encourage it in others.

If you want to be happy, focus on the happiness of others.

If you want to receive, give to others in abundance.

The Inner is Ultimate Determinant
The inner (one's inner condition) is the ultimate determinant of achievement, not the conditions the outer reality.

Consciousness & Achievement
The more we open to a wider consciousness, the more we can achieve.

Ultimate Achievement
Capacities, values, and consciousness, enable ultimate achievement.

The Determinants of Who We Are and What We Can Become
There are several factors that have shaped who we are, ranging from the outermost influence to the innermost.

One popular notion, which has a degree of truth, is that we are shaped by our environment -- i.e. we are the product of the society we are born into. E.g. if we are born poor with little opportunity to rise, our character is shaped along these lines. Thus, we may have little desire to rise up since all seems hopeless. This is perhaps the most outer determinant in shaping who we are.

At the next level "in", it is said that we are shaped by our parents. As they raise us, so we are. It is undoubtedly true that the parental influence is great, though I suspect it is more than we believe -- especially from the biased parent's perspective.

At a deeper level still, we are a product of our genetic disposition. This is undoubtedly the case, as when we are born our lives are already shaped by our character, which shows itself through psychological strength vs. weakness, intelligence vs. stupidity, aspiration and will vs. their opposite, capacity vs. lack of it, and so forth. Of course, that genetic inheritance comes from our ancestors, often our grandparents or other relatives, and not necessarily our parents.

Deeper still we can say that we have come into this life for a purpose, and that is shaping who we are. In that way we have been given an opportunity to move from what our inherent nature is to a higher level of that which we can become. In other words, we have come to progress and grow as individuals. We have taken a birth to rise to a higher level.

Interestingly the more conscious we are, the more we can fulfill that determinant of our life's purpose. One way of becoming conscious is by being aware -- in terms of knowledge, possibility, etc -- though our mental faculties. We can also become much more conscious by coming in touch with our True Selves, our soul being within. The more we come in touch with it, the more we see our deepest purpose, enabling us to fulfill the very reason we have been born here on earth.

This in turn leads us to an even deeper determinant, our Soul's purpose; which is inextricably connected with our life's purpose. The True Self, the Psychic/Soul Being within has given birth in our self so that it can absorb the essence of the growth we make as individuals in life. That would suggest that an element of the Soul too is evolving, and through our personal growth and successes, it absorbs new aspects that it sought when it entered our body at birth. Thus, the Psychic Being is an ultimate inner determinant of what we are and what we can become. (Beyond the inner Psychic/Soul Being as determinant, there is the universal and transcendent spiritual purpose we serve in the cosmic scheme of things; both as an individual and as a member of the human race.)

And yet the ultimate determinant of our lives are the choices we make through our level of awareness and consciousness. The more conscious we are, the more we determine the direction of our lives. If we are in touch with our deeper self within down to the evolving Psychic/Soul element, and if we are connected to the wider possibilities through the spiritualized mind of intuition and revelation above our current mentality, we come in touch with the highest possibilities of what we can become. We can then choose to become and fulfill our life's purpose. We ourselves as conscious beings become the ultimate determinant.

When we are in touch with the deepest depths and the highest mental heights, we see not only fulfill our soul's purpose, but our life purpose. From that highest consciousness, we perceive many things: what the soul yearns for, what are genetic propensities are, where we need to grow, what opportunities are available to us that enable our inner and outer progress, and in which directions to take to fulfill our destiny. Through our conscious awareness, we also see our destiny in terms of our social purpose and influence (e.g. as the inventor of a new product that helps the world), as well as our universal and transcendent purpose both as an individual and as a member of the human race.

All of these factors from the outer to the inner, and then back outward and upward are the determining influences in our lives that we can ultimately shape through our deepest awareness of who we are. From there we are free to make conscious choices and fulfill our destiny in life. The more conscious we are, the more freedom and possibility we will perceive. In the depths of our being we see our widest possibility, enabling our ultimate determination.

Inner-Directed Achievement
Not being determined by the outer social forces and influences enable individuality and achievement. It is Inner-Directed Achievement.

Inside or Outside the Box and Accomplishment
Those who have social character can accomplish fully within the norms and constraints of society. Those who have individual character think beyond the norms of society and develop infinite potential for accomplishment.

The Social Environment and Accomplishment
An individual's ability to accomplish is affected by the social environment and atmosphere -- which includes the capacities, energies, character, and circumstance of the social environment and social institutions he is involved in. When that environment, atmosphere is positive one is more likely to accomplish; when negative, it is less likely.

Variables that Enable Accomplishment vs. Failure
Human action, individual character, social character and the character of life combining and interacting generate a set of results. When those results are what the characters themselves would view as positive, we can refer them as examples of accomplishment. When they are negative, we term them failures. (MSS, slightly modified)

That Which Determines Accomplishment
An individual's abilities to accomplish are determined by his capacities and character, which are made up of his skills, knowledge, attitudes, energies, attributes, endowments, and personal values. There are a number of factors within these categories that determine this capacities and character.

Choice Achieves
It is our choice that achieves.

Human Choice
and Accomplishment
The ultimate determinant in human accomplishment is our own true desires and wants. It is our choices that ultimately determines the outcome and real accomplishment in life.

Making the Choice that Accomplishes
The determination of accomplishment is determined by choice; it is made possible by the conscious exercise of choice at every minute. The short term gain vs. long term benefit; the occasion to exert vs. the least line of resistance; the courage to embrace the new vs. the cozy comfort of tradition; the readiness to risk vs. the sense of security, etc. etc. (MSS, modified)

Unfailing Success
For any undertaking in life to succeed one must have total commitment, have complete positive attitudes about and during the endeavor, and make an unflagging and unwavering effort towards its execution.

Process of Growth that Formulates Achievement
Following the process of growth and accomplishment formulates achievement.

Follow the Process of Growth and Accomplishment
Normally, when we make progress, it is a result of our response to the pressures and challenges of life. This is for the most part an unconscious form of growth. Conscious growth, on the other hand, takes place when we self-conceive that which we want to become. We consciously grow when we aspire to accomplish something, organize the details of our vision, and then carry it out until our vision becomes a living reality. This is, in essence, the process of growth and accomplishment -- the most direct and powerful approach for bringing about long-lasting success and happiness in life. Action Plan: Consider taking up a new opportunity, or developing a new skill, or making a major change in your career, or adopting an important personal value in your life. Begin by envisioning what you want to accomplish, and from there establish the major goals to achieve that vision. Then organize the goals into practical strategies and plans of action. When you systematically carry them out -- supported by your highest high skills, your most positive attitudes, and by making the full, persevering effort -- the infinite potentials of life will suddenly open up before you!

On Accomplishment
Accomplishment issues from energy converted into power through direction and organisation. (MSS)

Process or Accomplishment
Aspiration releases energy, Will directs energy to become force, Organisation changes force into usable power, and skills create results out of power. (MSS)

Mind, Knowledge, and Will
Mind has knowledge and will. Will executes what knowledge knows.

Ultimate Achievement
The spirit offers ultimate achievement -- infinite in no time.

Achieving Anything, Solving Problems through Spirit that We are Within
The source of all creation is divinity (or the Spirit). So by releasing this powerful Spirit into action (or by invoking or by taking the help of this Spirit that resides within us) we can achieve anything in life, we can solve any problem. (MSS)

Powers of Human Mind and Spirit in Accomplishment
Individuals are now just beginning to tap into the mid and upper levels of the power of mind to accelerate accomplishment in life. A few are using the highest powers of mind to create even greater accomplishment. A very rare few are using the spiritual powers (a
plane beyond mind) which enables one to tap into the infinite powers of accomplishment.

Utilize Inner Techniques to Accomplish
One can use spiritual techniques like calling and deference to a Higher Power to create great accomplishment in life.

Accomplishing Infinitely by Acting on the Universe Contained Inside Ourselves
For 10,000 years we lived our lives based on our perception of physical space and measured time, which the Internet now threatens to abridge to a considerable degree. And yet the deeper inner consciousness of an individual can contain the entire universe within himself at any moment, negating space and time altogether. E.g. he can take actions from those depths, using that Force, enabling life to instantly respond up to an infinite degree from anywhere on earth within seconds. Even the Internet is a scratch of the surface compared to the accomplishment and joy that can emanate from this timeless, spaceless, infinite existence that we can contain from within.

Optimal Accomplishment through Values and Spirit
Optimal accomplishment in life is achieved through intense aspiration married to focused key values in life, implemented through maximum effort. Together they create great efficiency to accomplish in life. (That is, the greatest result with the least effort). Utilizing, surrendering to the spiritual Force creates the greatest scope and possibility for accomplishment, and is also the most efficient.

The Hidden Patterns of Life and Accomplishment
The final outcome to whether or not one accomplishes is also reflected in the operations and undercurrent of forces that are subconscious to most humans. These include "life responses" and other hidden patterns and processes that seem to circumvent time and space and all sense of normal logic. Like the attempt to understand the mechanics of quantum physics if understood these secret patterns of life could reveal the ultimate mystery to endless accomplishment in life.

Accomplishment and the Sanction of One's Emotions
An individual may think about ways to improve himself, though that is not enough to accomplish. He can even try to accomplish, but that might not bring in the desired results. When the mind decides to accomplish something it needs the sanction of the vital, the emotions. When there is a desire, an emotion to accomplish a thing it gains force and will of purpose. Thought to accomplish without the emotional desire and need will leave things as they are. For example, an individual might want to get more money in his life. However at an emotional level he feels secure in his current state. perhaps he seeks freedom, more than material gain in the form of money. Money will not come to such an individual even if he thinks he needs more money. A deep-felt want, hunger, ambition for money will unleash from life positive responses that will bring him toward his goal. If he takes a physical action, i.e. he acts on this emotion, he completes the process that will attract money to him in his life.

Achieving by Raising Our Strength Overcoming Our Negative Qualities
It is commonly said we do not know our weakness. That is a great truth. I have been insisting that we do not know our strength. Should a man know his strength and be willing to build on it, we see he rises like a meteor. Now greater heights call him. It is then one needs to know the other side of his character. A man who develops his strength rises to the maximum his own circumstances permit.

When he looks at his weaknesses and removes them, the present circumstances change and new favourable circumstances arise.

The second half, to remove one's weakness, is harder but more rewarding, especially as it sets no limits. It actually removes ALL limits or barriers to one's growth.

One suggestion to mitigate its bitterness is to observe someone close to us - a brother, a friend, a partner - as we know him inside out. Also, he is one whose defects we are acutely aware of. Once we know it in all the details, we can safely assume that ALL those traits are in us. A spiritual rule says the outer fully reflects the inner. Those who are with us are with us because they have exactly the same qualities that we do. If your partner is one who has a mannerism, and you are sure you have no such mannerism at all, please scratch the surface and you will find that mannerism would have become a mental habit that inhibits your larger mental potentials.

I these ways an individual's rise has no limits.

Knowing yourself is Self-awareness in individual life. Should you try to raise this awareness to realisation, you will be at the top of your society. (MSS, extracted and reorganized)

Life Response and Accomplishment
Life immediately responds when we take to those behaviors that overcome a limitation in our being.

Negative Influences on Accomplishment
Every accomplishment in life is vulnerable to interference or destruction by negative influences. The higher the accomplishment is with respect to previous levels of achievement, the greater the vulnerability. The character of a negative influence can be seen from the nature of events that occur when its approaches or leaves the atmosphere.

Here's an example. A man is at a certain level of income. He comes to the possibility of a big work which can lead to a big change in his life. However, his neighbors suddenly become hostile and bullish, which leads to a confrontation, at which he is injured by the neighbor, setting back his ascent to the greater level he aspired for.

Accomplishment, Involution, and Evolution
Individuals accomplish by growing beyond their limited capacities. In other words, from out of the limitations, the "Involution," humans make an Evolution. Greater accomplishment comes from out of this process. In fact, this is a process that the whole universe is going through. The ultimate purpose of this process is the unfolding of the higher qualities and capacities in the individual, which reflect the original purpose and determinants of the source of the creation, the Absolute, the Divine.

See Article 'Accomplishment in Life'

Energy and Accomplishment
Anything that increases our energy, increases our ability to accomplish in life.

Accomplishment and Cosmic Determinants
The universe is a manifestation of the One through the instrumentation of its eight principle powers, eight cosmic determinants, and their significant relations, powers, forms of being, consciousness, force and delight, energies, conditions, lines of truth, processes of consciousness, imperatives, possibilities, and actualities of manifestation.

These eight determinants expressing in varying degrees and proportions make up all the forms and forces of the manifestation. The power of each determinant expresses along a continuum from full manifestation (positive) to complete involution (negative). At the negative pole of the continuum each determinate manifests as the very opposite power to what it appears in the divine consciousness. Both the positive and negative expressions of each determinate are manifestations and instruments for the Divine Consciousness to express its intention in the universe. The involution from spirit to create matter and the evolution from matter to manifest spirit require the action of each determinate along this continuum.

MSS Article: Notes on Mr Collins Accomplishment (in Pride and Prejudice)

Our Capacity to Achieve and Grow

Individual Capacity
Our capacity, including our ability to accomplish can be measured by our level of skills and knowledge, the degree of our organization, the positive or negative nature of our attitudes, our energy, drive, and will, and many other endowments, including those we absorb from the family, environment, and society.

A capacity can be measured as to its degree of intensity, and to the degree we have it in positive or negative measure. A man can thus have great strength, but use it negatively.

Capacity
Capacity implies skill, talent, ability, strength, endurance, etc. (MSS)

Individual Capacity
By capacity we mean the predominant human traits that make up the individual's character. These traits can be expressed positively or negatively, and with greater or lesser strength and predominance. These capacities or traits include such groupings as the individual's attitudes, endowments, environmental influences, and so forth.

Growth of Personal Capacity
Growth of personal capacity involves a progressive increase in the ability of the individual to generate, harness, release and control physical energy as skill, vital energy as behavior, emotional energy as attitudes and motives, and mental energy as thought, opinions and values. Human energy is generated and released by knowledge and willed effort. The physical effort to master a skill requires an enormous expenditure of energy. The acquisition of the skill converts that energy into a formed nervous capacity of the individual. The vital nervous effort to acquire appropriate external behaviors requires an even greater expenditure of energy to achieve self-control over one's physical movements, gestures, expressions and speech. That behavior is only the external expression of personal attitudes. The effort to acquire positive feelings and attitudes toward people, circumstances and events involves a culturing of the emotions and motives that requires a tremendous investment of energy and results in the gradual building of the psychological intensity of character. A similar exercise of will at the mental effort results in the development of the capacity for thought, the formation of opinions and higher values. The cumulative capacity or force of personality resulting from this multi-level development at the physical, vital, emotional and mental level determines the nature and intensity of the responses of life to the individual. (MSS)

Accomplishment & Individual Capacity
Accomplishment in life is in proportion to the capacity of the individual. Capacity is a measure of the strength of personal character. Character is the formed structure of the personality built up by knowledge, will and values to generate, release and convert raw human energy into personal intensity. It is the intensity of personality that attracts to the individual forces of similar strength and nature in the form of opportunities for advancement and struggles for survival. (MSS)

Skill, Talent, Capacity
-It is necessary to distinguish between skill, capacity, ability and talent.

-Capacity is the essence of all skills you have learned.

-Talent is interest organised to perfection. All the capacity concentrated on one skill raises that skill to a pinnacle of talent.

-Any talent is created by one skill getting fortified by the entire capacity of the Individual. To convert one skill into a talent by the general capacity, one needs that ability. (MSS)

Capacity vs. Values
Capacity is of the physical. It is what we have already fully acquired. Values is of the mind and spirit, it is what we aspire to attain. Capacity reflects the values we have already fully accepted mentally, endorsed vitally and mastered physically -- e.g. the capacity to be punctual in the West, or to make things perfectly, or to organize or to fight courageously. What we call values are capacities still in the making, e.g. generosity, self-giving, taking the other person's point of view, truthfulness. When these values become physical sensitivities, they too are converted into capacities of extraordinary power. (MSS)

Skill, Capacity, Talent

  • Skill is at three levels -- physical, vital, mental.
  • Capacity is the essence of all skills you have learned.
  • Talent is interest organised to perfection. All the capacity concentrated on one skill raises that skill to a pinnacle of talent. (MSS)

''Take Inventory of Yourself" as the First Step to Endless Progress
We are an amalgam of capacities and virtues. Each of us has exemplary, average, and weak parts of our nature and character. Over the course of our lives, we succeed because of our strengths, but are held back because of our weaknesses. We could argue metaphysically that our soul has taken birth in our bodies so that it can advance itself through our growth and development. From the ''negative side," we progress by turning our negative propensities into positive ones. Those truly on the path of personal growth dedicate their lives to this process.

Though there are dozens if not hundred major and minor endowments, and capacities of our being, we can identify several constellations of traits that will indicate the general state of our strengths and weaknesses in life.  If we identify say one or two of the weaker ones, make the concerted effort to overcome them, not only will we progress, develop, and evolve as individuals, but we will tend to accomplish at far greater levels in life, which will lead to experiences of constant joy and delight in being alive.

Consider the following list, determine which ones are false for you, i.e. where your weaknesses lie, pick out one or two where you can improve yourself, and come up with a plan to overcome them. By doing so, your life will never be the same, as you will quickly be propelled towards the pinnacles of success, and feel a constant joy and happiness through that process.

  • I am psychologically strong.

  • I am organized in all facets of my being.

  • I have the necessary knowledge and skills to be successful in my work.

  • I am continually self-giving, instead of being selfish.

  •  I really love the work I am doing. I have a passion for it.

  • I have eminently positive attitudes toward everyone, and everything in life.

  • I am willing to give up old repeating habits.

  • I think for myself, and avoid the herd mentality.

  • I am rational, taking in all points of view.

  • I am filled with energy all of the time.

  • I have a deep aspiration to improve myself in life.

  • I work hard, and continually make a persevering effort.

One individual determined that he could be more self-giving, less selfish, and work harder. Another that she was psychologically weak, that she found it difficult to give up old habits, and that it was difficult to have an aspiration for something more than what she currently was. When each examined the reasons these were the case, and made the concerted effort to overcome these limiting traits, their lives improved dramatically, even overwhelmingly, in short order. I.e. life constantly responded to their efforts with instances of sudden good fortune (i.e. ''life response"). They were able to quickly move to the heights of success, becoming leaders in their fields, and all the while becoming infinitely creative, bordering on genius Their lives were not only then filled with abundant material success, but was accompanied by a deep contentment and joy within.

It is the power of taking inventory of yourself, and acting on it, to attract the infinite potentials of life.

What Enables Great Accomplishment and Success in Life
The factors that enable great accomplishment and success in life are:

  • knowing what one really wants, aspiration, i.e. human choice

  • following a process of growth to accomplish it
(i.e. aspiration, direction, organization of the details, perfect execution)

  • higher levels of energy, will

  • greater psychological strength

  • making decisions, making a choice

  • following the process of accomplishment (vision to manifestation)

  • willingness to what life gives, i.e. overcoming reluctances to do things; availing opportunities

  • higher levels of organization, orderliness, cleanliness, etc

  • greater knowledge & skills

  • greater effort, hard work, persistence, determination

  • positive attitudes

  • making situations more positive

  • taking responsibility, accepting the given, overcoming adversity

  • implementing high values

  • giving things, others attention

  • taking interest

  • higher formulations of thought

  • perfecting work

  • inner-directedness (as opposed to following the herd)

  • overcoming the negative of the past

  • being objective, practical

  • knowing the truth of things

  • givingness, goodness

  • proper of handling money

  • Soft speech, silent will, taking another's point of view

  • patience, calm, equality

  • Spiritual methods such as concentration, consecration, and surrender

On Accomplishment
Man's accomplishment is determined by the dimension -- width, amplitude, scope, reach, spread or whatever -- of his work. (MSS)

Untitled
In order to accomplish and be joyful in life one must have the right attitudes, psychological strength, show deep concern for others, have the full requirement of skills and knowledge, be organized to the hilt, and have direction. We can measure ourselves and determine who we are by considering these factors in our lives.

Develop Our Capacities to Create Luck
When we develop our capacities and gain the external cooperation of life we create the conditions for luck; i.e. the propulsion to the next level of achievement, success, and fortune.

That Which Enables Good Results from a Work
Whatever the work, it requires an energy, interest, skill, attention, concentration, experience and perfection. If all of them are there, the work gives good results. (MSS)

Capacity, Not Selfishness Succeeds
To be selfish is essential for survival is the conclusion of selfish people. They are right from their point of view. Recollect every selfish person you know. If they are also capable, they will continuously succeed in life and rise. What succeeds is capacity, not selfishness. Capacity succeeds in spite of selfishness. (MSS)

One's Readiness that Attracts the Work
If one prepares himself for any work, the moment the readiness is complete, the work moves towards him. (Grace always meets the aspiration with a field of expression.) (MSS)

Accomplishment Enabled by Creation-Capacity, Refusing Destructive Negativism, and Reversing Past Karmas

Three things are necessary for any accomplishment: First, you must have the required positive capacity for creation. Second, you must refuse to express your own negative capacity for destruction. Negativism is universal. It cancels luck. Third, you must have the capacity to compensate for your earlier errors, omissions, false steps and wrong actions, which is known as reversing one's karma.

Toughest Upward Shift Attracts Abundance

The toughest upward shift for each individual is the secret domain for his abundance. (MSS)

[Comment: "The toughest upward shift ..." Yes, it is where life powerfully responds in the form of great accomplishment. Many of us on the path have seen this Life Response dynamic in action!

Power for Spousal Goodwill that Attracts

-The pure and total goodwill of a wife for her husband turns her into a channel for infinity to enter into his life and as such his accomplishments will know no limits. (Karmayogi)

Comment: If the relationship is enhanced; if respect is increasingly given, then it sets the right conditions for the wife (or husband) to offer that Inner Support and Goodwill on their own that blossoms into infinite-like earnings for the spouse. So RomanceEternal goes hand in hand with Goodwill that leads to great accomplishment.

Keys to Accomplishment

Ultimate Accomplishment through Intensity of Aspiration and Values

-Accomplishment is dependent on various factors, including our aspiration, effort, attitudes, organization, values, etc.

-The degree of our success depends on the intensity we apply to any of these.

-The greatest results come from the intensity of our personal aspiration and values, which are ultimate determining factors for accomplishment.

-When we intensely aspire to achieve a goal through our most cherished values, we attract maximum results in our chosen field, evoking the infinite from the finite.

The Secret of Accomplishment is the Intensity

The secret of accomplishment is in the intensity, not the physical effort. The intensity comes from the height of our aspiration. The more we challenge ourselves to excel, the greater the intensity. The more we act for the sake of action, work for the sake of working, decide for the sake of the values rather than the results, aspire to give ourselves rather than receive -- i.e. the more we consecrate, the greater the inner intensity and outer response. (MSS)

On the Factors that Enable Accomplishment Between Parties

Human accomplishment is not like some magical recipe into which you have to pour all the necessary ingredients. It's a dynamic process in which competition, conflict, confrontation and contradiction play as important a role as cooperation. (Garry Jacobs, MSS, from 'The Book')

Success Matrix

Accomplishing Your Heart's Desire Sooner or Later

What you deeply want in life tends to occur sooner or later. When the outer conditions are positive, it occurs sooner. When one's consciousness is also rising, it happens faster still. When the outer and inner are both wanting, then your heart's desire is delayed or never occurs; or if it does, does so through difficult circumstance.

Accomplishment and Social Power

Great Accomplishment Comes from Social and Individual Power

Great accomplishment is a combination of great social infrastructure and great inner knowledge of the keys that unlock success.

Comment: We can look around and see all of the benefits society has given us. There are dozens we can identify in the course of our day, from highways to education to defense. It has contributed mightily to our success. But our ultimate accomplishment depends on the INNER keys that evoke it. Successful people have many of these natively. The combination of the two is great. Add the spiritual dimension, including our ability to open to the Force, and the current finite around us will move to the infinite. We will not believe the abundance that will come our way.

Great Results by Aligning with the Evolving Atmosphere

Karmayogi says, great results, great benefits, and great income come, not necessarily because of great endowments. They can issue out of the atmosphere because of one little advantage - that adheres to the evolving atmosphere. Therefore, the greatest strategy for "life response," lies in drawing upon the potentials of the atmosphere. Those who received rewards in proportion to their endowments or even more than that are those who expected or envisaged an atmosphere like software, internet, consumerism, life style, etc. and went accordingly. (Ramesh Kumar)

Accomplishment (that which prevents it)

Ego

Intensity, Ego, and Keeping Up Big Success

Many years ago I overcame a big attitude-related hurdle about working weekends, and attracted the biggest sales of my life. In essence, there was at that time an aspiration to succeed that attracted the commensurate result. Once I received the big $ payout, the intensity leveled off, and there was no further success and payout. Also, the enjoyment of the $ payout superseded my enjoyment of working on the job, further contributing to the lack of repeated success there. Lack of intensity, as well as the ego of enjoying the very large $ payout blocked further successes in that field (retail sales).

Ego Prevents Sustained Success

Last year a project manager told his proprietor he deserved a much higher salary. His proprietor asked him to double the income of the project and promised to double his salary if he did so. The manager succeeded. A year later he complains that this year everything has gone wrong and he has been unable to perform. He wonders why.

Accomplishment is based on effort and capacity, never on ego. Ego comes in to claim the results and the reward afterwards. As soon as it does so and is satisfied, accomplishment stops. It is never 'I' or 'we' that accomplishes, always it is life creating fortuitous circumstances when we remove our personality and step out of the way and subordinate ourselves to the requirements of work. (MSS)

Seeking Recognition, Reward

Seeking Recognition and Reward -- i.e. Ego -- Backfires. Do the Opposite to Succeed.

One of the ironies of life is that the less we seek or expect recognition and rewards, the more readily they come. Whatever ego seeks evades it. Whatever ego expects, gets postponed. (MSS)

Opposition when Trying to Rise Higher

Holding Off the Negative when Trying to Accomplish

Karmayogi indicates that every accomplishment in life is vulnerable to interference or destruction by negative influences. He indicates that the higher the accomplishment is with respect to previous levels of achievement, the greater the vulnerability.

Ultimately the outcome of this dynamic depends on the strength of the positive side. That is, individuals as well as society achieve in this environment only when their strength is organized to contain the threat and mischief of the negative side.

Several keys are -

-Recognizing one's allies and adversaries.

-Perceiving where one's rise is matched by adversarial forces.

-Knowing the best way to address those conditions (who to align with and who to avoid; what to do, not to do; etc.)

-Perceiving what life is trying to teach you at each point, and learn from and act accordingly.

-Aligning with Mother and Her Force to hold off the negative and accentuate the positive.

Studying human nature is very helpful here. Karmayogi has written literally thousands of pages on that topic. He has perceived and captured all the rules. In his line by line commentary of Pride and Prejudice it is there in extraordinary detail. We can begin to learn as many of these life lessons (individual, social, collective) as possible. E.g. there are signs that indicate a negative influence. Thus if someone shows up when other things are going wrong, we may be able to see their untoward influence in this or related situations. There are hundreds of such subtle perceptions. By mastering them, we can begin to control the negative as we ascend in life. Having the Mother and Her Force always at our side and disposal will bring out the best in such endeavors.

Token Effort that Enables Accomplishment

Token Work Discovery for Inner-Based Sales

Wherever there is result, there is an indicator, of what inside you precipitated the result. Now that it is identified, repeat it. It is a Token Work of "self-research" that is applied. Keeping a database list of what inwardly precipitated the sale is helpful. I did something similar, highlighting in red that which really stood out. Now I knew what effort or change in consciousness precipitated it. All that was left was to consciously and intensely repeat it.

Personal Growth - General

Personal Growth & Relations with Others

Most of our personal growth occurs through our challenging relations with others.

Progress of Form through Other Forms

Progress occurs for forms, including we humans, through interrelationships with other forms -- whether the relation is positive, neutral, or negative.

Progress through Error vs. Higher Consciousness to Improve Ourselves

Human life is such that we progress and improve ourselves many times by making mistakes and committing errors and suffering the consequences of such foolish behavior and learning from them. Sri Aurobindo has remarked that "the error is also an accessory or handmaiden to truth," meaning even error helps us to learn truth more and more.

Though error does help us to perfect ourselves, it does so in an in efficient, wasteful, unhappy manner and as such it should not be our first choice for learning. Integral spirituality calls for clarity of thought, straight forward emotions, positive conduct, etc. to keep advancing in the spiritual path. As such it either calls for complete replacement of error and wrong approaches or if error is unavoidable, at least safeguard the major aspects and issues of our sadhana from contamination and influence of errors. Accomplishment

Goal and Aspiration are the Key to Achievement

What makes a man achieve is not his capacity, his circumstances, etc. but his goal and aspiration. (MSS)

Comment: When you really want to accomplish something, life conspires to quickly make it happen. The key is really knowing what you want to achieve, and having the intense will for it to happen. With a little effort, like will quickly bring it about; sometimes, even before you take action!

Achievement  and Personality

Achievement is determined by the personality. (MSS)

To Accomplish a Work

To accomplish a work all positives must be in place and all negatives must withdraw. (MSS)

Comment:  Here we are speaking of complete success in a work. On the positive side it is brought about by having clear goals, an aspiration for its accomplishment, an intense will for it to occur, organization of the details, persevering, full effort to make it happen, executed with right skills and positive attitude.

It also requires the holding down of the negative, most of which consist of our wanting attitudes, fixed behaviors, and limited beliefs. It is especially worth considering our wanting attitudes toward the work (e.g. a reluctance of some sort), attitudes towards others (e.g. ill-will or irritation towards a co-worker), attitudes about self (e.g. "oh I am incapable of doing this") and about life (e.g. "it just can't be done considering the current conditions"), etc.

Overcoming our own personal limitations among the positive and negative factors will insure a stupendous positive outcome, as life will respond to our efforts from all quarters.

By the way, following this process also enables real personal growth, as we will be evolving our consciousness from a lower status to a higher one amongst one or more of the factors mentioned above.

Ultimately, the entire undertaking -- from changing our nature to the vast success it elicits -- will energize us to no end, and evoke deep Joy and Delight in being alive.

Sincerity  and Success

Sincerity is finally rewarded. (MSS)

Human Initiative Rebuffed by Life

Human initiative is always rebuffed by life. (MSS)

Social & Mental Accomplishments

Social accomplishments are not known to create mental accomplishments. At best they can help create some culture. (MSS)

Non Desponding Completes the Work

Incapacity for desponding helps complete the work. (MSS)

All Desires are Capable of Realizing Itself

Any desire however unrighteous it is, is capable of realising itself at some time, in some measure. (MSS)

Our Infinite Potential

Opening to, Embracing, and Manifesting Our Life's Infinite Possibilities

We can break through the barriers of limitation, and see that this Life is one of infinite possibility. The problem is that our limited consciousness crusts us over, placing blinders over us, preventing us from seeing our vast potential.

However, when we draw back from the surface of life; from our senses and surface mentality that tells us what the "facts" are; from the givens that society dictates; from the fetters of the environment we are raised in -- our eyes open up and we begin to see the shoreline of our infinite potential.

More positively, we can develop an inner orientation and come in contact with our True Selves. When we do, not only do we become true individuals guided by our soul's aspiration, but our hearts and minds expand to the widest vistas of Existence. As our consciousness grows, we realize that we are not limited beings, but infinite beings capable of becoming all that we choose to be.

The only question then is whether we are willing to make the effort to discover our deepest, highest, and widest Selves, so we can truly perceive, embrace, and manifest life's infinite possibilities. (2009-2011 Q1)

Seeing Beyond the Impossibilities to the Infinite-Like Possibilities

Our beliefs in what is possible are limited to what our senses perceive are the facts of existence; what we have materially experienced in our lives. Any of that is considered what is possible. Anything beyond that is perceived as an Impossibility. This limited view of reality is garnered through what Sri Aurobindo calls the Material Intellect.

But the truth is infinitely beyond what the outer, material facts indicate, and therefore so are our potentials to progress in life. We therefore somehow need to move to a higher level of mentality beyond this external and surface view to perceive that infinite potential.

The solution is to give up faith in Mind's externalized way of viewing things. We must understand any situation, problem, and perceive the solution at a higher level, using powers of Mind beyond the material view. This requires us to minimally accept being rational in our thinking. Being rational is to accept not just one side of a matter or that which we are prejudiced towards, but the many-sided view of things. Practically it can be practiced by continually looking at things from the other person's point of view; i.e. to step into his shoes and see the world as they see it. That will open us up to many perspectives of any matter.

Openness to all sides of a matter, and persistently seeing things from others' perspectives is a first step to see the Possibilities. Another is to open to the spiritual Force continually, -- before undertaking important acts, to cope with problems, to deal with the current conditions, etc. -- which will over time forge a non-egoistic "witness consciousness" within from which you are more likely to open to others and their points of view, and to perceive high attitudes and values in the world.

From these approaches, your mind will open and expand beyond your own experiences. New vistas will open up. As a result, the old view of Impossibilities will turn into a new one of infinite-like Possibilities. A New World will appear to your inner vision. You will begin to see the Whole Path, or many paths laid out before you. Then the real journey of Self-Discovery can begin. (2009-2011 Q1)

Creating a Personal Universe

From our highest consciousness, we perceive that we are each a universe in miniature, capable of creating our own infinite-like reality.  (2009-2011 Q1)

Shift from Limitation to Infinite Possibilities that Attract Boundless Success

The infinite Possibilities are there to begin with in the universe. However, our consciousness is imperfect, crusted over, and firmly set in an essential Ignorance, preventing us from seeing that infinite potential. As a result, we are firmly ensconced in a view of Limitation.

And yet we have the ability to overcome that view of the Impossibilities, and know the infinite Possibilities. It requires a great inner effort in which we establish a deeper poise and a higher consciousness, which gives us the wider view of existence and its unlimited potential.

Now when we plan and act, we do so in Truth, which attracts the very best conditions from life. Energy and deep joy invariably follow and complete our boundless success. (2009-2011 Q1)
