Perhaps the greatest secret known to Man is the existence of
a Power that when accessed can attract sudden
good fortune from the world around us. By
opening to this Power, to this spiritual
Force
before commencing any
activity, major or minor, one is likely to
notice a sudden change in luck, as life begins
cooperate from the most unexpected quarters.
Some true-life examples:
--A man was trying to figure out a complex computer
programming problem. At one point he decided to stop racking
his brain, and
opened to the higher Power, after which he forgot about the
problem. A minute later, not only did a solution come to
him, but that insight suggested a
solution to a host of related problems.
--An instructor's class was going very
poorly
one morning.
Nothing seemed to go right. He then decided to
consecrate the afternoon session by offering it to the
spiritual Force. Thereafter, every conceivable thing
went right during the remainder of the class. In addition,
he felt a palpable peace and richness
throughout that period.
As we see, opening to the Force
before commencing an act has the power to attract
“instantaneous miraculousness, as problems are quickly
solved, as unexpected possibilities present themselves, and
as a profound peace, richness, and joy fills our being.
It is the power of

Determining Power of the Spiritual Force
When you undertake an important act, you seem to have
limited control over the outcome of events. If however, you
make your attitudes fully positive, you tend to attract more
positive circumstance. Still the energies of the atmosphere,
of others may still not be favorable, meaning that outcomes
may still be mixed despite an eminently positive attitude
and point of view.
However, if you open to the spiritual Force, i.e. to the
Divine Mother -- for you, it may be God, Krishna, or Jesus
-- conditions are automatically set right during the meeting
ahead. You bring in the causal power that overcomes all
obstacles. Outcomes are creative, dynamic, and
unprecedented. Life moves to another dimension; to one of
perfection, fulfillment, and joy.
To consecrate an act by opening to the Spirit is a power
available to use at every moment. Moreover, its effectivity
is increasing, as it progressively descends into the earth's
atmosphere, making it ever more available to all. We merely
have to reach out and grasp it, and apply it to the
activities and conditions of our lives.

Nature vs. the Force's Method of Progress Nature works slowly, difficultly, through contradiction to move life forward. The Spiritual Force works rapidly, if not instantly, through perfect knowledge and unity to evolve and transform life.

The Power
of the Spiritual Force Sri Aurobindo is better known however for his discovery of what he called the "Supramental" power. In his view this is the plane that enabled the universe to come about from a Divine source. It is also a plane that we can rise to in our own lives to bring about ultimate practical and spiritual progress. This Force has been pressing down and entering the earth's atmosphere, though in the last 25 years, its strength and influence has rapidly increased. Practically, the most important factor is this: when we open to its power, life's conditions are instantly brought under our control; sudden good fortune moves towards us from every direction. For those who have already surrendered to the Force in their daily lives, they have experienced one miracle after another. Among them are-

etc. etc. By opening to the power of the spiritual Force, we can have anything we want in life. All we have to do open to that power and ask for our heart's desire. Life will then quickly move in our favor. The result will be a wonder to behold, changing our lives for the better, while
Sudden, Abundant Results through Spirit E.g. desired people suddenly appears at your doorstep from out of nowhere; a project is completed not long after you start it; the pursued client comes to you in five minutes, instead of six months of trying to establish a relationship; the solution of an experiment comes into your mind in a flash instead of weeks or months of experimentation, and so forth. In other words, you accomplish what would take a lengthy period of time, very quickly, even instantly, defying our common notions of cause and effect, and space and time. Also, where you now receive a certain level of results through a substantial outer effort; connecting to Spirit enables vast results with little effort. No matter how hard you try, or whatever your level of skill, or to whatever degree you use technology, life operates in slow motion, and create a fraction of the results compared to the instantaneous abundance that you will receive when you open yourself to the Spirit. The next time you engage in an activity such as meeting with a client, open yourself to the spiritual Force; call it in intensely, and then take note of the results after the act is complete. When you take inventory of the outcome, you are likely to see that life has far have exceeded your expectations. Now you may never look at life in the same way again. Consecration Brings a Bit of the Infinite to Life Through consecration -- i.e. self-offering of our acts and situations to the Divine -- we bring a bit of the Infinite consciousness, the Supreme into life.

In the New

Normally we
believe that higher consciousness and spiritual progress
occurs by taking up an inner effort of discipline to evolve
our nature from lower to higher states of being -- e.g. from
lower to higher levels of awareness, from negative to more
refined and higher attitudes, from lesser to greater skills
and capacities, from selfishness to self-givingness, and so
forth. This is a great movement of personal effort that is,
in essence, one of ascent.
And yet
there is also a descending movement that also has an equal
if not greater power to raise our consciousness and elevate
our nature. There is spiritual Force in the atmosphere that
is available to us at any moment in time, which has the
power to transmute our being, overcoming our mental, vital,
and physical limitations. By offering our deficiencies to
that Power as they present themselves, that Force can
quickly work its magic so that they rarely if ever show
themselves again. E.g. a long term negative attitude can
suddenly disappear. Even a long term ache and pain can
vanish forever.
Thus, there
is both an ascending and descending movement that can be
enjoined to raise our consciousness and being. One without
the other only gives us partial power to transmute our
nature. However, together they form a transformative team of
overwhelming power that can quickly elevate us to the inner
and outer heights.

cooperates from all quarters when we open to the spiritual
Force. Its conditions are set in order to our benefit, and
sudden good fortune appears from the most unlikely sources.

Instruments of the Divine Intent that Enables True,
Spiritual Individuality
When we
discover our deepest Self and Soul, we move beyond the
limited views of others, of the social milieu, and, as a
result we are able to express our true individuality in
life. In fact, all great pioneers take their cues from
within, from their deepest Self, which formulate into
personal values and beliefs that manifest as forms of real
progress in life.
There is
also another dynamic that evokes an ultimate form of true
individuality. It is not a movement originating in our
deepest self, but from the Heights, the Cosmic realms, that
can manifest as real benefit. When we are receptive and open
ourselves to the descending spiritual Force and Power, we
enable one or several aspects of the Will and Intention of
the Divine to bring forth new, unique possibilities in the
world. Through that opening, we become instruments for
dynamic, creative, and unprecedented progress and express
in another way our True Spiritual Individuality.
Of course, each one of us can collaborate with the Intention
of the Divine. Now that the spiritual Force is
descending into the earth's atmosphere with increasing
power, it is that much easier to become instruments of Its
cosmic Intent. It is another way we can have a direct impact
on the world in an increasingly Psychological and Spiritual
Age.
Ascent and Descent of Spirit The spiritual person from within connects upward to the spiritual heights; to the Infinite, the Eternal, the Conscious Force; which elicits a corresponding decent from Above that changes our inner and outer condition and existence.

Difference between Consciousness and Spirit
A reader asks "what is the difference between consciousness
and spirit?"
Answer: I would say consciousness is self-awareness at any
level, from material to vital/emotional to psychological to
mental to spiritual. E.g. an ant has consciousness, as does
a human, but at different levels of development at various
planes. In humans, the vital, and particularly the mental is
more developed. Even the plant has a physical and vital
consciousness (at the level of sensation). Spirit is spiritual consciousness, whether originating in the Divine Source or in our own individual lives and experiences.
And yet a human being, who has all levels/planes of
consciousness outside of spirit developed to a large degree,
can also develop spiritual consciousness, becoming an
integrally, transformed being. I.e. all planes below the
spirit are transformed through the spiritual power and
action in that person.
What We Can Consecrate We can consecrate any aspect of existence: an upcoming event, a simple act, a problem, a current condition, an opportunity, a wanting aspect of our being, and others. We can also consecrate not only for our own selves, but for the sake of others, and the wider collective. Finally, we can consecrate at a given time interval, for no particular reason, aspiring that the coming period will bring the best.

We can open
to the Force to consecrate any upcoming act to insure its
best outcome. Life will respond in our favor. We can also
consecrate a problem or even a wanting part of our being.
E.g. if we are anger or jealous, we can offer it to the
Higher Power which will begin to rapidly purify it. The
negative quality may never come to be expressed again
because the Force is so powerful.
What and at What Level We Can
Consecrate -upcoming activities, current situations and circumstance, problems, aspirations/intentions, feelings, thoughts, things to shed. Also things related to current, past, and future situations. -One can consecrate at different levels -- i.e. for one's own sake, but also for a collective, such as one's family, shared living residents, the community, issues in the society, conflicts between nations, global situations, etc. -One can consecrate at various intervals, such as at the beginning the day, every hour, every 15 minutes. -One can consecrate in various ways, such as opening to, calling to, surrendering to, envisioning (e.g. showering) and sending/directing the Force and Power.

Consecrate One can organize consecration at the deep-lying areas of one's being (spiritual mind and upward), and down into the depths within ourselves. (Paraphrase of MSS) Levels of Consecration
Consecrating Acts Here is another approach. At the outset of the day, offer it in its entirety to the Higher Power. If there are several critical events that are going to occur during that day, offer them individually as well at this outset of the day. Also, when a major event in the day comes up, offer that before you start. Eventually, you can go further and offer smaller acts from having a meal to getting dressed to when the phone rings. Several people I know consecrate based on time, e.g. every hour or even 15 minutes, no matter what acts follow it. (remember; doing this sets life in order, gains its cooperation; often in the most startling ways.) You can also consecrate past actions, particularly if they went awry. Consecrating them can reduce their influence on the present; even reverse their occurrence in the past! You can also consecrate the negative inner or outer behavior that precipitated that act in the past. You can also offer a negative thought or quality in your being you now have for the sake of its improvement. Also, eventually you can learn the laws and principles of acts. Then you can consecrate these as necessary. E.g. one law of acts is that they tend to repeat. If you sense that you are in similar circumstance which brought negative results last time, it will tend to repeat. If you consecrate it, you you can avoid the repetition. (It also works for positive circumstance.) Another law of acts is that everything is a predecessor of something else; a first sign and indicator of something else that will occur down the line. If you consecrate after a negative has taken place, then follow-up negatives will be prevented. E.g. I have trouble finding sun lotion and I am very late. When I then get to the boat, I consecrate the ride, knowing that something negative could happen which would be a successor of that predecessor. (E.g. another boat nearly hitting us at 50 mph.) The Laws of Acts is different than consecrating an Act, though as in the above situations, they relate.

Consecration and Spirit-based Living Normally, when we take up an activity, we just do it. Usually there is some thought involved, perhaps some planning, a certain will to achieve, and the physical effort to make it happen. This is the way we normally accomplish our objectives in life. However, if we choose to live a spirit-oriented existence, this approach will not suffice. In a spirit-oriented life, actions are taken not merely for our own sake, but for the Divine's sake -- fulfilling Its will, purpose, and intent. When we focus our intention to accomplishing an act for that Higher Purpose, we are in essence consecrating the act. When we do, stunning developments are likely to follow, as the act is infused with the spiritual powers of the Divine. Consecration in this way is then the central method that distinguishes a spirit-oriented existence from an ordinary one. How then do we consecrate? It is actually rather simple. Before we begin any activity -- such as reading an email or meeting with a new client -- we can pause for a moment, concentrate ourselves within until we are somewhat still, and offer that which we are about to undertake to the Higher Power. When we do so, we not only give what we are about to embark on greater purpose and meaning, but what takes place thereafter will tend to have the stamp of the Divine action upon it. The act that we have consecrated will tend to unfold better, as positive situations and circumstance unexpectedly arise; where previously problematic circumstances will begin to dissipate; and where a feeling of calm and well-being will permeate the atmosphere. In other words, by consecrating the activity, life will begin to cooperate from all quarters. It is the power of the spiritual Force in action. Let's consider an example. Say that you are about to begin an important activity. Before beginning, close your eyes, quiet your mind a bit, and then list out in your thoughts some of the details of what you are about to embark on. Now try to come in contact with the spiritual Force in the atmosphere. Then say something like "Oh Divine Force, I offer X and Y [the things you are about to embark on] to You. I do this work for Your sake, so that Your power, force, energy, wisdom may suffuse the work." Then let go of that deep aspiration, and continue on with the activity. Sometime thereafter, notice if anything special has taken place. Perhaps an unexpected positive development has come to you attention, or you have experienced an unexpected instance of good fortune. If you see the benefit, consider if and how it is related to your effort at consecration. Try consecrating in this manner several times in the course of the day, and see what results come your way. At the end of the day, tally the benefits that you have received as a result of your inner effort to engage the spirit in the activities of your life. As you experience the wonder of these powerful results, you will be energized to no end. You will begin to see the power of spiritual magic at work in your life; that life operates in ways you would never have thought possible; that you have an awesome power at your disposal to direct the course of your life. In addition, as you consecrate activities on a regular basis, you will have taken the first decisive steps towards living a spirit-oriented existence. At a later stage, you will feel not only this sense of wonder, but begin to develop a certain desire to surrender to this Power. You will begin to see that you are making the effort at consecration not so much for your own personal achievement and success, but to fulfill the Divine purpose and intent. You will begin to feel that you are becoming an instrument through which the Divine Intention and Will can flow. At that point, you may begin to surrender you very life's purpose and existence to the Divine. Then your own individual soul purpose and the Divine purpose will begin to merge. Such spiritual experience and realization in the activities of life is perhaps the greatest joy known to Man.
The Moment that Changed
Everything
I had finally made the connection between my deepest
spiritual aspirations in life -- the teachings of
Sri Aurobindo and The Mother -- and the opportunity
to implement them through work. I had joined Mere
Cie Imports, who were selling products from
Auroville and the Sri Aurobindo Ashram to boutiques,
chains, and health food stores throughout
California. Through a series of incidents, I was
able to join up with the company in the San Fernando
Valley in the Los Angeles area. It was in 1975, at
the end of the hippy era and the dawn of the first
New Age movement in America.
When I first met the owners of the
company, I felt that inexorable Presence within;
that palpable vibration of Sri Aurobindo and the
Mother that I had felt before. But in this case, it
just permeated the entire business. When I merely
sat still for a moment, I fell into a state of
bliss, that is how rich the atmosphere was. Certain
that this was where I wanted to be, I agreed to come
on board and begin selling their products in the
glorious warm weather winter climate of Southern
California. Living near the beach, with the job of
my dreams in hand, I was ready to meld my deepest
aspirations with a practical and stimulating work.
And yet, before I began that day's efforts, I had a
short meeting with the principle of the company, who
had only one word of advice for me. He said that
each time I enter a store, I should 'remember the
Mother.' When he said that, I was thunderstruck, for
that put an entirely different light on the work I
was about to engage in. For after all, wasn't one's
aspiration for and the bringing down of the higher
Consciousness and Force the very essence of Their
teachings, and the very basis for doing the work?
And yet in that moment, and too many before, I had
all but forgotten that essential.
Fortunately, my then boss and now close friend had
through that simple, yet powerful request reminded
me of the fact. In essence, if we open to the
spiritual Force -- in our terms, the Divine Mother
-- before engaging in an act, life would respond out
of all proportion. That Force would turn a routine
act into an ecstatic experience, matched by
tremendous sales or related results. In that way,
the smallest boutique could bring the biggest sale,
as any act could be an opening for the infinite to
break out; as condition would conspire out of all
proportion in my favor.
In one sense, my whole life has been a footnote to
that moment when my friend made that dramatic
request. Though I have opened to that Power a
thousand times since, in current moments of my life,
I am often compelled to ask; "am I performing the
act before me in the normal human way, or through
the Higher Consciousness." After all, wasn't that
the very reason I was drawn to Sri Aurobindo and the
Mother in the first place? In that decisive crossroad moment, my friend confronted me with the ultimate spiritual challenge. Those words he uttered so long ago still reverberate today, as I am still challenged to take up that inner approach that has the power to dramatically alter the conditions of life.

Opening to Force Garners Total Cooperation of Life When you open to the supramental Force before an important event, everything unfolds just right, with absolute precision, with perfect execution, and all necessary knowledge. In addition, these extraordinary outcomes are often accompanied by a deep stillness and peace; a quietude and richness that envelops one's being. It is an overwhelming to experience life this way, and is an indicator of how humanity will function in the next stage of its evolution.
The Spiritual Efficiency of Results
Miracles of the Divine Mother In The Life Divine, Sri Aurobindo describes the process by which the universe emerged from a Divine source. He indicates that a plane of consciousness called ‘Supermind’ (or ‘Truth Consciousness’) divided the Force and Energy of the Infinite to create the forces and forms that emerged in creation. All that has emerged and continues to emerge, including we humans, are a product of that process. What is perhaps most interesting for us is that this Supramental Force is also available to us, and if we open to it, we can create infinite-like results as well. Over the years, I have known of hundreds if not thousands of examples where individuals followed this method -- evoking staggering, often life-changing results. Many of the people I am familiar with practice this approach by opening to the ‘Divine Mother’ -- who is in essence the Divine conduit for the Force. Maybe She is the Force Itself. They usually open to Her power in a variety of situations: e.g. before undertaking an important activity, such as a major business meeting or an upcoming wedding; or when a serious challenge or problem arises, such as financial or health crisis; or when they wish to change a wanting part of their nature, such as a poor attitude or belief. Each time they offer it to the Divine Mother, the Force moves into action, producing astonishing results. Here are a few recent examples: ---An Indian national working in the US in the software industry could not get back to his country because his deputation had been delayed. The intensity of the experience also caused him to develop a serious skin problem. He and his mother then intensely offered the difficult situation to the Divine Mother. In very short order, she quickly learned that her son’s trip to the US has been cleared by the officials, and he would be arriving in two weeks! Moreover, his skin problem was finally diagnosed properly, and, as a result, easily treated. The woman could not believe that both of her problems had vanished so quickly and miraculously. --A man and woman in India ran a business. However, due to repair work going on nearby, the enterprise began to lose customers, and, as a result, they incurred substantial losses. The woman then learned that because creditors were now increasingly pressuring them to pay back loans, her husband had run away. As a result, she plunged into an inconsolable state. But then a friend came along and recommended that she sit quietly before a picture of the Divine Mother. A short time later, there was a call from her husband informing her that he was fine, and then indicated the place where he was staying. That night, he returned home safely. --A man was very concerned that fires burning out of control in Northern California for nearly a month could soon lead to the deaths of hundreds, maybe thousands, as the smoke in the air had turned dangerously toxic. He prayed intensely to the Divine Mother, hoping for some change. The next morning when he awoke, he saw that the skies had suddenly turned perfectly blue, essentially clearing out the month-long orange-brown smoke and ending the crisis in the region. What happened was that an unexpected weather system had swept through the area clearing out the smoke, potentially saving the lives of scores of people. What had actually occurred was that the Force had moved into action and changed the conditions of life. --A woman was called to jury duty, even though it meant she had to take time off from her job and engage in what she considered an unpleasant activity. As juror selection proceeded, it looked like she was going to have to remain there for several weeks. She then offered the entire matter to the Divine Mother. Shortly after, she was question by an attorney who explained the nature of the crime and asking her if she would be prejudiced in any way. She then responded that she had in fact been a victim of a similar crime. As a result, she was immediately dismissed from jury duty! Because she consecrated the situation, the Force created and aligned with conditions that pardoned her from the case. --A man in India was being set up with a wife through arranged marriage. One after another, problems ensued with prospective partners. Along the way, he even lost his job. Getting tired of the situation, he offered the matter to the Divine Mother. Suddenly another marriage proposal came in from one of his relatives. She turned out to be a very good girl, but he thought he could not accept it because he did not now have work. He offered the matter to the Force again, and soon found out that she too was a follower of the Divine Mother! They were then soon married -- and it occurred on the date the physical Mother made her yearly appearance at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram. --A woman and her son were experiencing many delays in their travels as they navigated the various airports since there were no direct flights. As a result, they were continually fatigued and irritable along the way. Moreover, she began to rail against the system that did not provide more direct flights to her destination. Finally, she realized that the problem was in her attitude, which she then offered to the Divine Mother. She later learned that for the first time, direct flights were available to and from her local city to the desired destination, making the need for transfers unnecessary! Through the spiritual Force, she evoked a response not only for herself, but for the collective! --A man was on the edge of financial ruin because all orders in his business had dried up due to the recession. He then offered the matter intensely to the Divine Mother, and immediately after an order came in that provided months of financial sustenance. --A man suddenly felt intense gratitude to the Divine for having helped him secure such a fine and dedicated staff. Instantaneously, the phone range and he received a very large order for products her business was offering. He saw the direct relationship between his intense gratitude to the Divine Mother and the immediate arrival of the requisition. These are common every day experiences of people who have opened themselves to the spiritual Force. You can multiply these by a hundred or a thousand to include all of the incidents I have been privy to over the years. Some are startling and touching beyond believe. And yet this Power is available to every one of us each, every minute of the day. In fact, Its power is growing, as It is increasingly penetrating the earth’s atmosphere -- meaning it is more accessible to more people, and is more concentrated, producing even more powerful results. We have entered a New Age of possibility -- not only of freedom, accomplishment, and fulfillment, but of inner power via access to the Spirit. It is at once the Infinite consciousness that is pouring into life, becoming the source of all things, as well as a Power that we can access through the Divine Mother, evoking an endless procession of the miraculous.
Consecration and Life Response Consecration is the act of self-offering to the divine to affect the conditions of an act or situation, causing it to suddenly or quickly work in our favor. It is the spiritual Force acting in life, effecting life's conditions to our benefit. Here are a few examples from the last several days, narrated by associates and friends of mine. "Today is December 23rd and it being two days before Christmas, I needed to do some errands. I thought that I would start my errands early in the morning and so left my home at 9 a.m. I drove to a local drug store to pick up a couple of prescriptions. This drug store is in the middle of a shopping center that normally has plenty of parking. My errands for this day included picking up my prescriptions and doing my grocery shopping. I then arrived at the shopping center on this very busy day before Christmas Eve, pulled into the parking area and started looking for a parking space. To my discontent, I ended up driving around the lot three times looking for a stall. Then I found one at the far end of the lot, but I felt that I could try to do better, so I pulled out of the spot I and started another round about the parking lot. I then consecrated the act, offering it up to the Mother. As I was getting quite close to the drug store, a parking stall suddenly emptied and I was able to park my car near my destination! I then went to the prescription counter and made my purchase. After making my purchase, I went back to my car and went through three green lights towards the grocery store, which was my next stop on this very busy day for everyone in town. I pulled into the grocery store parking lot, which very congested, yet immediately found a parking stall right in front of the store! I then did my grocery shopping and as I was looking for a checkout counter, when I located one where the customer before me was completing her transaction. I sailed right on through and made my purchases. I then went back to my car to unload them into the trunk. At that point, I called home to let my partner know I was on my way so he could help me bring up the groceries. When pulling out of the parking stall, three times, there was a car in the way of my exiting the stall. I remained calm until the area was clear. When I finally got home, my partner was already waiting at my parking space for me and we them both unloaded the groceries very rapidly. Despite great congestion round me, life cooperated at every turn due to my consecrated effort to Mother. If only life could always be like this!" --- "A few days back I was in a bank counter queue and there were at least ten persons in front of me. I have to pay this before 11 am so that person in the other city can draw it before 12 noon. It was a tense moment, and I therefore consecrated the anxiety. Even before I opened my eyes, another counter was opened over to the side, and as a result, the existing line was cut exactly starting with me, making me the first person to pay in the new counter!" "Similarly, we had arranged for consultants to meet a few days back to make an appraisal about a new product in a leading hotel. Later on, we felt that the timing was bad, as everybody was in errand mood. We expected at least 80 pax on that day – but at the scheduled time there were only 6 pax, and even they were not too relevant to the field. Though worried, I consecrated the anxiety and thought of Mother for some time. Immediately, people started walking in, and within 20 minutes or so it was up to 43 pax. Though it was much less than expected, later on we heard that the persons who attended were the "who is who" of the industry. They were exactly the cream of our target customers, who generally don’t attend such meetings and prefers only one-on-one meetings." As we see from these episodes when we offer activities, situations, problems to the Higher Power, life immediately starts working on our behalf. It is the miracle of consecration in action.

Consecration Yield an End Result in the Beginning
Sudden, Abundant Results through Spirit E.g. desired people suddenly appears at your doorstep from out of nowhere; a project is completed not long after you start it; the pursued client comes to you in five minutes, instead of six months of trying to establish a relationship; the solution of an experiment comes into your mind in a flash instead of weeks or months of experimentation, and so forth. In other words, you accomplish what would take a lengthy period of time, very quickly, even instantly, defying our common notions of cause and effect, and space and time. Also, where you now receive a certain level of results through a substantial outer effort; connecting to Spirit enables vast results with little effort. No matter how hard you try, or whatever your level of skill, or to whatever degree you use technology, life operates in slow motion, and create a fraction of the results compared to the instantaneous abundance that you will receive when you open yourself to the Spirit. The next time you engage in an activity such as meeting with a client, open yourself to the spiritual Force; call it in intensely, and then take note of the results after the act is complete. When you take inventory of the outcome, you are likely to see that life has far have exceeded your expectations. Now you may never look at life in the same way again.

Development Within five minutes of the dialogue, we began discussing a major thrust to move the project forward, the biggest in nearly three months. It is the plan to bring the first part of it to fruition; something I hadn't expected for a long time. That is the power of opening to the spiritual Force: in my case, the Divine Mother. Affirmation of Position The next morning, I recalled the situation and took a different tact. I called to the Divine and asked that it relieve me of my assertiveness and ego, and instead create an atmosphere of harmony. One minute later, I opened my email program where I found but one message. It was my friend responding again. When I finished reading his comment, I was astounded, for he had in essence taken my point of view, even adding a creative dimension. I saw the dual power of moving from

The first thing is to perfect the work we are involved it.
We do that by raising our level of organization

our attitude positive; by having goals, and sustaining our
focus and will over time; by making the full effort; by
raising our level of skill and knowledge; by taking to high
psychological and spiritual values like truth, honesty,
patience, self-reliance, responsibility, punctuality,

self-givingness.
In addition to raising these inner and outer determinants of
accomplishment to the maximum we are capable of, we can also
practice a critical spiritual skill. We can offer any
activity we are about to engage in to the spiritual Force,
thereby consecrating the act. This will set right the
conditions of life, and together with the factors of
accomplishment, generate an overwhelming inner power that
will attract career and life changing conditions that will
bring you the earnings of a month every single work day.
This combination of perfection and the spiritual Force will
unfailingly attract the infinite potentials of life to the
here and now.

A wise
associate friend of mine recently made the following claim:
"Doing any act for the sake of the ego causes tension, opens
us to pain. ... Do the work for the sake of others and
discover the joy in each act. Self-giving converts effort
into joy."
So today before engaging in a small consulting contract over
the phone, I offered a prayer to the Divine Mother that the
customer should derive great benefit from the service. I
sensed real sincerity behind my aspiration, which is not
always fully the case.
Though challenging and full of twists and turns, the two
hour session was very engaging, and the issues were resolved
through creative, dynamic solutions. There was also real
collaboration amongst the participants.
In other
words, as a result of focusing on the fulfillment of others,
the session became FRESH, ENERGIZING and JOYFUL for me, and
SUCCESSFUL for the client, just as my associate friend
indicated. At each point, life seemed to respond with a new
possibility and corresponding right solution that enabled
these wonderful outcomes.

industry or domain has the aspiration and will to succeed,

success is guaranteed, despite any rivals. In other words,
utilization of the Spirit transcends competition.

Spirit.
Making Events Miraculous through Consecration Every event is an opportunity to bring the miraculous into life. It is accomplished through consecration -- i.e. self offering of the event to the Divine, which attracts the full cooperation of life.
Consecration -An instructor's class was going very poorly one morning. He opened to the Force by consecrated the afternoon session. Thereafter, every conceivable thing seemed to right in the class. In addition, there was a palpable peace and richness in the air that could be felt throughout the remainder of the day. -A salesperson opened to the Force before making a sales presentation to a potential customer. In the past, all efforts at winning over the customer had failed. Again, even after this consecrated presentation, the customer still would not budge. However, the salesperson was given a lead that led to an enormous sale through another customer!
Surrendering a Large Undertaking Attracts Plethora of Funds A day or two after an earlier episode (see above) in which a consecrated effort, i.e. self-offering of the event to the spiritual Force, suddenly attracted piles of money, a follow-up episode occurred. Here's what happened.
I was outside my home, thinking about a new, very
substantial venture I was undertaking. I then realized that
there are so many issues involved, which could easily drive
me to confusion and frustration. Instead, I stopped myself
in my tracks and said, "Mother, I cannot know what is going
to happen, I cannot wrack my brain to understand all of the
possibilities, possible outcomes, where things are headed,
etc. So I OFFER THE ENTIRE MATTER TO YOU."
Not 5 SECONDS later my cell phone rang, and shockingly but
not too surprisingly it was a new customer, which meant
substantially more money; when there were virtually no such
calls for weeks, if not months. The result was a wonderful
affirmation that brightened my day.
But the episode did not end there. I then walked over to my
mail box, and it in was but one single letter -- an unusual
circumstance. But what a letter it was! It was my household
mate's first check amongst many to come involving thousands
of dollars, at a time she was unsure if she would receive
even ONE PENNY from that point forward from that source.
It was another verification of how one consecrated gesture
of total Surrender of circumstance to the Divine Mother and
Her Force can attract large, even huge sums of money.
Because the intention was to rid one's self of mental
activity, and have total Faith in Her ability to guide the
future, powerful money results instantly followed.
Let's see what happens in the days ahead!
Consecrating Act Diminishes Incoming Negative Consecrating an incoming communication will reduce any bad news associated with it, whereas not offering the communiqué (letter, email, phone call, word of mouth, etc.) to the spiritual force tends to increase the negative later on.
Consecration "Changes the Past" My father [Karmayogi] believes in the power of consecration so much that he tries to consecrate everything he does whether it is big or small. He will consecrate before eating his morning breakfast as much as he consecrates an impulse to start a new project. If somebody comes to give him some news or to get his sign on a cheque or document he likes to consecrate before putting his sign. Let us take phone calls coming to him for example. There are only five people who can call him on his mobile (myself, my brother, two Americans serving at MSS, his personal attendant cum cook). If he sees a call coming he consecrates before saying hello. I once asked him “How does yr consecration affect the news that is coming thru the phone? If I am going to give you some bad news how will that news change in the minute that lapses before you say hello after consecrating the incoming call. I am not going to change the news I am about to give within that one minute. So what is the benefit of yr consecration?” Garry Jacobs who was there when I asked this question to my father chose to reply on my father’s behalf. He said, “You may not change the bad news that you are going to give. But if Appa receives the bad news after consecrating yr phone call, the negative impact of that news will be much less than what it would otherwise be if the call is received without consecration. Let me suppose you call and tell yr father that news has come from the farm that after a heavy rain and powerful winds 50 teak trees have fallen and 100 lemon trees have been uprooted and lots of unripe lemon fruits have fallen from the tree and the estimated losses can come to one lakh rupees. This is only an initial report the manager gives you after hearing from workers and supervisors who have gone inside the farm and assessed the damaged and given him a rough report when he arrives at the farm in the morning for work. When Appa receives this news after consecrating it the atmosphere changes because of that consecration. Now the same manager will call in the evening and tell you, “Sir, the initial report I gave in the morning was based on information I got from the workers when I arrived for work in the morning. I myself went into the farm and did a thorough inspection of the damage caused by rain and winds. The actual number of teak trees that have fallen are only 20 and the actual number of lemon trees that have been uprooted are only 40. It is not like 100 bags of unripe lemon fruits have fallen from the trees and have gone to waste. Workers have inflated the numbers of fallen fruits and I am sorry for giving such an exaggerated report of loss in the morning. Most of the fallen teak and lemon trees can be raised back and made to stand straight. Only some 6 or 7 teak trees may have to be given up as hopeless and cut up and turned into timber”. So when Appa consecrates the estimated losses come way down from the original figure quoted. Supposing he did not consecrate and received the news you gave just as news, the same manager will call you again in the evening and tell you, “I am sorry sir. The actual damage turns out to be much higher than what I reported in the morning. The number of teak trees that have fallen are 70 and the number of lemon tress that have been uprooted stands at 130 and loss by falling of unripe fruits from the branches will cross more than 100 bags. You please come here yrself and assess the damage on yr own if you don’t believe what I say.” Garry Jacobs continued his comments in this manner and said, "So you see, when bad news is consecrated though the news does not change, the impact of that news later on gets greatly diminished. If the bad news is received without consecration the impact of that bad news will become worse later on. So it is always good to receive any news coming thru a person or a phone call or e-mail by consecrating first and then only receiving that news." This was his long explanation and my father agreed with him and I left the place with a satisfaction that I have now received a proper explanation for the power of consecration. It does change the atmosphere and magnifies good news and minimizes bad news. This truth can be verified by any devotee who decides to take up consecration seriously for both big and small activities of his or hers. (N. Ashokan)

Opening to the Divine Mother before engaging in a
significant physical ordeal such as a minor or major surgery
will attract astonishing results, as it unfolds far better
than one would have imagined.
Miracle Meetings through the Power of Spirit Ordinarily when a meeting is about to take place, we prepare ourselves in a variety of ways. We review our notes, consider our agenda, think about potential problems and issues that may arise, and so forth. Little do we consider our ability to prepare inwardly, through an elevation of consciousness; and by making that effort, evoke powerful response from life. Over the last six months, I have been involved in what can only be called a project of a lifetime. Associates and I have been developing strategies and action plans for creating an expert system for personal growth. It is ambitious in scope and entails many dimensions of life. In the development of the project, a number of us have been meeting online using the Skype internet-based phone system to conduct our worldwide conference calls. The technology is marvellous; but the subject of our undertaking is far more astounding still. I personally have been involved in a number of the discussions, though I went through a period where I dropped out of the conversation. During that time, I felt that my expertise would be better served elsewhere. However, when I rejoined the group six weeks later, the members told me that I had come in at an auspicious moment; just when things were moving from the theoretical to the practical application stage. Shaken a bit by the timely arrival, something in me said, "Wouldn't it be great if every time I came to this group conference call, something unexpected and positive like this would occur?"
And so I thought of various approaches to
bringing the power of consciousness to bear on the upcoming
meetings. I then thought of a powerful method that had worked
for me in the past. Before coming together, I imagined the
spiritual Force enveloping and descending on the participants.
In addition, I would keep my own thoughts at bay and my agenda
to myself when we connect. The first time I used this inner, spirit-oriented approach, I was stunned when in the first minute I was informed that a decision had been made to move ahead and build the first module of the system. I was dazed because I did not believe this would happen for months, perhaps years. But there it was, rapidly moving to fruition from seemingly out of nowhere. Thus, my first attempt to evoke the future into the present had succeeded. I then applied the inner technique a second time, and in that call, I learned that our founder had asked us to immediately develop a new, never discussed module for the system. I was again astonished, as this project seemed to come out of nowhere. And yet there it was, ready for our input so we could rapidly move it quickly to fruition. I am happy to report that this module -- RomanceEternal -- was released to the public on February 21, 2009.
This spirit showering, non-agenda approach
produced powerful, miraculous-like results at least three times
during that week. By holding back all thoughts and conceptions,
and using the spiritual Force, life created unexpected, new
conditions where there was nothing like it before. It as if you
were a real estate developer had envisioned a complex of
buildings to be built. You knew you would need to secure
funding, gain permits, and execute a comprehensive project plan
that would unfold over time. Except the next day when you visit
the site, you notice that construction has already begun! You
call out, "How is it possible? We have not even begun the permit
process; nor have we hired anyone to build the buildings!" It is
even more than this because the project itself came
unexpectedly out of the blue, advancing our cause to the nth
degree.
From these episodes, we see
the power of using the active and passive dimension of spirit.
When we shower others with spiritual grace and remain still
inside, keeping our agenda at bay, what unfolds will be
startling in the extreme -- as the infinite will replace the
current limited reality before us (the finite), and the future
will manifest in the present. I welcome you to try this method in your own work and home life, and see if you too can evoke the miraculous.
Consecrating a Money-Related Activity Attracts Abundance of It
Recently I made a small effort to consecrate a friend's
effort of doing her taxes; i.e. self-offer it to the Spirit.
Several minutes later, my friend discovered and gleefully
informed me that she was due several thousand dollars, when
she actually expected to pay out funds, let alone receive
any.
Then a few minutes late, I learned that thousands more was
going to come in as a result of a new contract that suddenly
arrived out of nowhere -- at a time when literally nothing
else was scheduled on my training and consulting agenda.
There would turn out to be additional reverberations as well
-- both monetarily and inwardly.
And all because of one tiny gesture of self-offering of the
event to the spiritual Force, to the Divine Mother.
Wonder of Evoking the Force in Acts
Why not open to the Force before engaging in any minor or
major activity. It will result in magnificent outcomes that
are magical, creative, and dynamic, eliciting the Infinite
from the Finite.
Opening to the
Spiritual Force
The fastest
way to transform one's self is to consistently open to the
spiritual Force before engaging in any act. Not only does it
elicit sudden good fortune, but it creates a channel in your
being that opens you to the Spirit and its multifaceted
influence. E.g. over time you become calmer inside, more
aware of the truth unfolding around you, and experience an
inner richness and joy that is ever-lasting. If you employ
this spiritual technique regularly, you will be born into a
new way of living.
Benefit of Consecrating the Small
Ordinarily it seems hard to put energy into consecrating --
i.e. self-offering to the spiritual Force -- mundane acts,
such as brushing our teeth, taking out the garbage, doing a
routine task at work, etc. Where would the intensity of
aspiration for something to be different, for life to
respond through consecrating such a miniscule, seemingly
unimportant activity come from?
But what I found interesting is that by making that token
effort of offering to the divine Mother the very small, you
quickly attract unexpected things that create NEW Energy,
which in turn can motivate you to consecrate additional
small or larger things, habits, etc. in future, creating an
endless upwardly spiraling loop of response.
So even while the physical consciousness is not motivated to
consecrate the small, one can push aside that flatness, make
the effort to offer it to the divine Mother, which will
attract wonderful results plus new energy in its wake.
It is an occasion for endless experimentation.
The Infinite Emerging from Finite
through the Divine Force
When the divine Mother's Force and Grace are there, the
Infinite can emerge from the finite, i.e. powerful results
can come from the very smallest thing, the tiniest act,
thought, or feeling. I have seen this any number of times.
Her Force also gives us the power to see the critical
importance of the small; as well as its divinity.

Overcoming a Perceived Problem
Our Unforgettable Trip to Hawaii Several years ago, I was on my way to Maui, Hawaii from San Francisco with my friend. It was to be our 25th anniversary celebration in paradise. We had to navigate our way through two airports; one in Honolulu, the other in Maui. When we arrived in Honolulu our luggage seemed to be lost when nothing appeared in the conveyor belt. We then both called to the Divine Mother, though we didn't know the other was doing so. Instantly, to our astonishment we saw the luggage standing over to the side upright as someone had placed it there for us! Then after we arrived by plane in Maui from Honolulu, a similar thing happened there as we waited again in vain for our luggage to show up. Had we come all this distance only to see everything fall apart? I then consecrated the situation intensely. A moment later, all our luggage appeared in the luggage go round! Naturally, we went on to have a trip of a lifetime, as all went perfectly well that week. By the way, there was a predecessor to our arrival in Maui. As we made our descent, we saw a giant rainbow over the island from our plane. It indicated the wondrous release and splendor of the trip -- both inwardly and outwardly.

self-perpetuating cycle of trust, power, success and wonder.

Problem Demands Great Concentration There are serious occasions in life. The problem has a refractory character. When you think of it, it draws your energy through that attention - maybe we can call it negative attention - and starts growing in strength. Man is not made to forget his misfortune. Now consider a situation where an exam is impending for a student. He pushes away all his cares and concentrates on the exam. To evoke a serious response from the Divine via prayer or consecration, such a serious, concentration-orientation, not a problem-obsessed response is necessary. Those who are so suffering MUST be capable of the serious concentration of a student on the eve of the exam, instead of dwelling on the misfortune and strengthening it. (MSS, paraphrased)

Jury Duty
When that fourth day rolled around, my friend's name was finally
called. The attorneys then proceeded to ask if she would be
prejudiced against the accused one-way or the other. They then
probed into whether she would be overly unfavorable toward the
defendant perhaps because she had been a victim herself. It
turns out that was precisely the case over 25 years ago to a
similar crime. She was then interviewed privately, where she
explained her situation and past history in detail. As a result,
she was dismissed from all jury duty. Because she called to the Force, It responded in its normal supra-creative way by evoking startling conditions that resolved the issue in my friend's favor. By opening and calling to the Spirit, It found just the right vehicle -- the correlation between the alleged crime being investigated and the precise victimhood my friend experienced all those years ago -- to relieve her from court duty. The Causal power of the Force knows no bounds, and is infinitely creative and helpful. It also connects past, present, and future into the Eternal Now. The results invariably come as incidents of instantaneous miraculousness.
Truth Consciousness/Force that Reconciled Division, Ending the Cold War The Truth generated by the supramental action (i.e. the truth consciousness of the Divine Force) reconciles opposites and contradictions in the form of a higher-level, creative, unprecedented resolution. Perhaps the most dramatic recent example is as follows: Throughout the latter half of the 20th century the West's strategy against the Soviets was divided into two camps: those who favored aggressive blockage and those seeking reconciliation and mutual disarmament. However, Gorbachav came along, backed by the supramental truth Force, and simply deconstructed the Soviet empire from within without a single loss of life, ending the global threat of nuclear holocaust. It was a totally unexpected, creative, and unprecedented resolution of the Cold War that only the Truth Consciousness and Force of the Divine could have made possible.
Overcomes Past Problems
Consecrating to Solve Past Problems When you consecrate past problems, misdeeds, mistakes, and wrong attitudes, their influence on us in the present can instantaneously dissolve, and result in sudden and abundant positive good fortune in the present. This is the case because the Force knows no limitations of time -- of past, present, and future -- as it simultaneously abridges all three. Thus, it can overcome the limitations that the past has over the present, even as it can attract the infinite abundance of the future to the here and now.

Sri Karmayogi describes
one central principles
of life is its tendency
to repeat. He also
indicates that such
repetitions,
particularly those of a
negative kind, will
cease when Man
understands at a higher
level; i.e. when he
perceives something new
that he did not know
before relative to the
issue at hand.
Interestingly, there is
a complementary method
that can also achieve
the same result and
more. We can offer the
situation to the
spiritual Force, which
will overcome the
inertia to repeat, while
attracting other
powerful conditions.
To illustrate what I
mean, I would like to
narrate the following
remarkable experience I
had the other day.
Every two or three years
I meet with a friend of
mine whom I have known
for a quarter of a
century. This is a
person who I worked with
many years ago and over
time has become a
successful software
developer. As a result,
he now lives in a
prosperous community
nearby with his family.
Whenever we get
together, we meet for
lunch at a local
restaurant in my town in
the San Francisco Bay
Area.
Though the time for our
meetings are normally 12
noon, I usually end up
arriving just a touch
early, sit at a table in
the back, and face the
front of the restaurant
so I can wave him in my
direction when he shows
up. It turns out that
every time we have our
lunch get together, he
arrives late -- usually
15-30 minutes. He then
invariably apologizes
profusely for his
tardiness, since he is a
well mannered individual
and has a soft, winning
nature. For 25
years this pattern of
lateness has repeated.
On this particular
occasion I arrived a few
minutes early, and
instead of entering the
restaurant, I decided to
sit in my car in the
parking lot until 12
noon arrived. As I sat
there remembering the
many times I met my
friend here in the past,
I also recalled how he
always arrived late. In
fact, it had become
something of an ongoing
joke between us. This
time however, I decided
to take a very different
approach. I therefore
closed my eyes and
concentrated myself, and
then offered the entire
matter up to the Divine
Mother, hoping for the
best.
Well just as I was about
to exit my car and enter
the restaurant at 12, my
cell phone rang. I saw
that it was an incoming
call from my friend. As
I answered, I thought,
“Here we go again! He’s
calling to tell me that
he is delayed or that
the meeting needed to be
cancelled.” He then
proceeded to ask me if
we were indeed supposed
to meet today. “Oh boy,
I thought, it’s
repeating once more.”
However, at the end of
the short conversation,
he said something
startling. He told me
that he was already in
the restaurant, and was
waiting for me at his
table!
Somewhat shocked by the
development, I got out
of the car. Then I began
to joyously laugh to
myself as I realized
that he did not know I
was a mere 10-20 yards
away from him in the
parking lot. (The
wonders of modern cell
phones!) I now realized
that I would be
surprising him with my
sudden arrival, since he
likely thought I had not
yet left home. Now
practically dancing into
the diner, I saw my
friend standing and
waving to me in the
back, and scampered over
to take my seat at the
table he reserved.
When I sat down, I was
filled with giddiness
and awash in wonder.
There were so many
reasons! For one, it
turned out that for the
first time ever we were
sitting on the exact
opposite side of the
restaurant we normally
sat at. This struck me
as very compelling. I
also noticed that he was
sitting at the opposite
side of the table than
before. That is, now he
was facing front; where
I always had that
vantage point in the
past. Add the fact that
he had arrived on time
after all of these years
-- actually
before me -- and it
is no wonder that I was
enthralled by the
situation. It was
obvious in that precious
moment that life had
completely turned
around; both literally
and figuratively.
As I sat there in a
state of wonder, I
understood clearly why
this had all
happened. Because I
opened to the spiritual
Force, to the Divine
Mother before entering
the diner, years of
inertia-based repetition
had come to an end. That
Power evoked the very
best conditions for all
concerned.
There is one other
interesting part to the
story. After these
developments, we then
proceeded to have a fine
meal and very
stimulating
conversation. In it my
friend revealed that he
had just gone through a
very trying episode,
where he was caught in a
great blizzard in New
York City. He then
described to me in great
detail the unbelievable
difficulties he
encountered in dealing
with the wicked weather.
How he had been forced
into going places and
using modes of public
transpiration he was
unfamiliar with as the
weather created havoc
with the situation. How
he was forced to go to
three different
hospitals during those
days to deal with three
different family members
who had suddenly taken
ill. And so forth for
the remainder of the
time he was trapped in
the city and could not
make it back to
California.
But what was really
startling to me was that
all of his adventures
took place in the
precise area of the city
where I grew up; places
and things I had not
thought of in over 40
years since moving to
California back then. In
fact, he had practically
retraced every haunt,
transpiration method
(bus, subway, and taxi),
and station I used to
make my way back and
forth to Manhattan as a
youth. It was too much
to believe to discover
that out of a thousand
locales in that gigantic
metro area, my friend
had been moving about in
the very specific ones
that I did in my youth.
The precise bus; the
precise train, the
precise destination
train station; even the
precise neighborhood
where I lived. It was a
million to one shot that
this could happen. And
yet I knew that the
miraculous coincidence
he was narrating was but
another result of my
earlier effort at
consecrating his
previous lateness.
After narrating his
gripping story, my
friend revealed that he
was considering writing
a book on the subject,
which would not only
include the great
adventure he just
narrated, but related
subjects on human trust
and fear that he has
observed for decades in
the American landscape.
Now after suggesting
this possibility, his
face became bright in a
way I had not seen in
years, if ever before.
In fact, for the first
time in decades, I
sensed that he had a new
purpose and direction in
life.
As we see, when life
repeats in the negative,
we can overcome that
repetition by taking to
a new, higher
understanding. My friend
must have done just
that, as he finally
arrived at his
appointment on time.
From my side, I also saw
that by evoking the
Spiritual Force, I was
able to attract a
plethora of astonishing
conditions, including
the overcoming of the
poor habit of my friend,
as well as a number of
other circumstances that
bordered on the
miraculous. It reminded
me once again of how
opening to the Spirit
can have an immediate
and vast impact on the
Character of Life.

One
remarkable aspect of the spiritual Force -- Sri Aurobindo
calls it the "supramental" power of the Divine -- is that It
knows future circumstance and outcomes, and therefore sets
right conditions in the present to avoid these. For example,
through our opening to the Spirit, we avoid purchasing a
certain mode of computer that will turn out to have problems
in the future, compelling us to purchase a similar but safe
one now in the present. In this way, the Spirit and Grace,
which sees beyond past, present, and future, guides us in
the right direction to avoid problems that will crop up
later on.
Overcoming Negative through the Force
We see the signs around us that are negative. This is Karma.
We offer it to the Divine, which cancels karma, overcoming
the negative. This can become the central means of human
evolution and transformation in the future.

it also cancels uncertainty about the future.

When we know a repetition is going to occur, consecration

Availing the Force Consecration that Spreads to
the Collective
-One woman in Asia who was bothered by the fact that rain
did not come to her area on a regular basis, offered this problem to the
Higher Power. That day it rained very hard in that area; so hard, in
fact, that the power went out. Furthermore, when she then consecrated
her complaining attitude about the irregularity of rain, the power
immediately came back on! The wider community of course benefited from
the rain.
-In another case, a woman in Asia was so uncomfortable by the heat that
she was unable to continue her work. Being of a spiritual nature, at one
point she began to compare the air conditioning system to the Divine
Reality, which brings a feeling of chilliness when one is in contact
with it. Suddenly thereafter, it became dark in that region, and then it
started raining, which filled the room with a cool chilly breeze,
enabling her to return to work. Many others benefited as well.
-In a third case, a young woman aligned with the spirit discovered that
her oven had stopped working. When repairperson came to see the problem,
not only did he replace her oven with a new one, but he then went on to
replace all of the same ovens in the complex!
Over 1000 square miles of California burned and the air
was getting worse with every passing day. The chance of rain or another
system moving through was virtually zero since this is the dry season in
the region. At one point, I thought back to last year when California
hit nearly 120 degrees for several days, including my area. Over 300
people died and thousands more were taken ill. What is not generally
known however is the fact that had the heat remained for another several
days, thousands, maybe as many as 10,000 could have died. Fortunately,
the weather cooled somewhat, averting the tragedy.
With this in mind, plus the fact that I was having headaches and felt I
was slowly being poisoned by the air, and the fact that the skies were
worsening and the fires were getting completely out of hand, one night
before I went to sleep I felt an overwhelming aspiration for it all to
end. I then explained the situation in detail to The Mother, and with an
intense prayer asked that the situation cease. I then fell asleep. The next morning I opened the curtain and looked at the sky. I noticed that there were several small high clouds. I looked out the window from the other side and saw the same. I then thought that these are produced when a weather system passes through. But these were tiny clouds, and I wondered what good they would do. Then as the morning progressed, I noticed that this was indeed an upper atmosphere disturbance (not unlike the earlier system that created the lightning strikes, but smaller and completely benign; i.e. a few tiny clouds but without the lightning). Then at one point, it was clear that the sky was no longer brown, that in fact the normal deep blue skies of California returned for the first time in several weeks. Still I wondered if the Central Valley smoke would drift over and return; but it never happened.
It turns out that this virtually cloudless upper level weather
disturbance/front had miraculously cleared out all of California. A day
or two later 460 of the 500 fires were under control. The smoke had
virtually disappeared. Life returned pretty much to normal.
The Divine Mother had altered the course of reality, and saved myself and countless others from what I believed was a looming catastrophe. I could only feel awe and eternal gratitude. Repeating a Life
Response for the Collective As you may know from a previous entry, I was able to marshal the spiritual Force to overcome a dire situation in Northern California. What happened was that last spring an unusual lightning storm hit the area, setting off thousands of fires throughout the region. After weeks of non-stop firestorm on the hills and mountains, the skies began to turn an ominous red-gray color in the major metropolitan areas like San Francisco and Sacramento. Worse still, people were beginning to feel physical effects to the point that there was concern that hundreds or even thousands of people could become seriously ill or die from the ever-increasing toxic poisoning. As a result, I called to the spiritual Force with the hope that the Higher Power could bring relief. As it turned out, the next morning I looked out the window and noticed that the air had completely cleared, when a most unexpected weather front moved in overnight. As a result, seventy-five percent of the smoke disappeared in a 12-hour period, and the remainder dissipated over the next several days, never to return. Though a looming catastrophic situation had been averted, I did not rest on my laurels for I understood that the normal fire season was yet to begin. In fact, being a long time resident of the state, I knew that the infamous Santa Ana winds were due to let loose in early October, which was the usual period it makes its appearance. Knowing that we had the driest conditions in the region in 20 years, making the area a potential tinderbox, I considered what I could do inwardly to avoid what could turn out to be the most dangerous fire season in modern Northern California history. Such a conflagration would make the fires of the previous spring seem like a walk in the park. As the Santa Ana period approached in late September, I closely watched for the appearance of any high winds. One day I noticed that wind velocity had reached 20 miles per hour with some higher gusts. Though not the 50+ mph of Santa Ana, I became concerned, and so began to "consecrate" the situation just as I had done the previous spring. Not long after, I checked the weather map and noticed that an unusual early October shower was heading our way. When it passed through the region, the ground was nicely soaked, but I was still aware that the Santa Anas could rise up any day and cause havoc. But you know what; in the days and weeks ahead, the so-called 'devil winds' never arrived! For the first time in 30 years of observing weather in the region, the powerful gusts with the power to ignite and destroy thousands of homes and businesses throughout the area, never showed itself. Then something equally remarkable took place. Instead of the gradual transition to the rainy season, two weeks after the normal Santa Ana period, it suddenly began raining hard, and did so for several days. It was in fact the earliest start to the rainy season I had ever experienced here, and would turn out to be the final insurance policy that dampened any chance of an inferno breaking out in this part of the state. Once again, life had responded to an inner initiative to affect the collective. I was both relieved that a dire situation was avoided, as well as reminded of the awesome power we have to affect the conditions of life around us -- including those that affect a wide swath of the community. Finally, I was reminded of the infinite power of the spiritual Force to alter the world outside ourselves -- a power that according to the Mother is ever increasing, descending deeper into the earth's atmosphere. One final point: At several points along the way, I was tempted to tell others of the progress I was making to alter the Santa Ana threat. However, I controlled myself, and never revealed a thing, including the arrival of that very first modest dampening rain. I knew that if I 'spilled the beans' and told people of my success so far, everything would come undone -- i.e. the Santa Anas and their destruction would return and wreak its usual destruction. And so I held back from discussing my inner effort with anyone until the danger was past. (The principle is straightforward: until a positive development fully comes about, it is best not to discuss or get too excited about it, otherwise it will get cancelled.) Now as I look around at what were
parched hillsides only a few weeks ago, I see new greenery sprouting
everywhere. This unusually early California rainy season has been most
gratifying for me, as it has come about a month and a half ahead of
schedule. Changing History from
Within
Thousands of miles away Sri Aurobindo, the Indian seer and sage had
worked to evoke that fog through a movement of consciousness. During the
same period, his spiritual partner knows as The Mother had similarly
sent a vibration to the ruler of Germany to attack Russia, creating a
dual front in the war that eventually weakened the German war effort and
led to their eventual defeat.
There are individuals who have inner power to shape events in the world,
thereby altering the course of history. Interestingly, each of us has
this power in relation to the collectives that we are part of or
associated with. Through movements of higher consciousness, we can
change the weather, cancel a dire energy crisis, or change the fortune
of an organization on the verge of collapse. Normally we would need to
(a) have a keen interest in the matter, (b) understand it in its myriad
of details, and (c) offer the matter arduously to the spiritual Force.
The result will be the sudden, dramatic appearance of a resolution of
the problem. Often it comes in forms that leave one completely dazed.
In India there is an organization called The Mother's
Service Society. Two of its objectives have been to foster global
economic development and bring about world peace; both as a means to
foster ever-increasing world harmony and unity. To that end, it formed
the International Commission on Peace and Food (ICPF) in the mid 1980s.
One of its central tenets was to bring about the end of the Cold War. It
was the belief of the founders that overcoming the threat of nuclear
annihilation would dramatically enhance their ultimate goal of human
unity and the psychological and spiritual evolution of life on earth.
After putting together a prestigious list of members that included two
wives of renowned world leaders, they planned their first plenary
meeting in Trieste, Italy. As it turned out, the day one of the primary
founding commission members travelled to this first gathering from
California to Trieste, the Berlin Wall began to fall, ostensibly ending
the Cold War. The founder members of MSS (Mother's Service Society) and the ICPF commission had the deepest aspiration for a change in the collective condition of society. Through an inner movement -- the aspiration and the opening of the situation to the spiritual Force, supplemented by an outer one, the commission itself -- a vast change in the world took shape. Like Sri Aurobindo and The Mother's inner actions, several members of an obscure think tank in India and its worldly commission had changed the course of history. It is an indicator of the infinite power we have to affect the conditions of the world from within. Affecting the Problems
of the World from Within Ourselves
We have
forgotten that we are not only an individual being, who can find his
individual Self, but a universal being who can find his universal Self.
So just as we can change our immediate outer world from the inner
movements, we can change the environment, things going on in society, on
earth, in the universe as well, through an intense aspiration directed
to the truth consciousness. It is powerful and perhaps startling for one
to have such experiences. It is a whole new domain of life response,
making one aware of our ability to marshal our vast inner resources to
affect the non-personal world outside us. Affecting
Rules of the Collective in Our Desire to Help the Customer I would say that if from the heart one wanted the best for the customer, not just one but the entire collective thereof, there would not have been a dip in sales or layoffs, as one would be in touch with the aspirations of the society, which Karmayogi refers to earlier in his article 'Surface and the Subliminal in Business.' Or maybe one can say that if one truly aspires for what is best for all such customers in society sharing in the specific situation and circumstance, and offers that to the Divine, there would be no dip in sales for customers or layoffs of staff, as life would respond to one's aspiration for the collective movement though new, unprecedented positive developments. The fixidity of the society -- in this case of management and its policies -- would break down. We see a world of impossibility where the companies set rules, but we do not realize that through the spiritual Force and intense aspiration, we can disturb the equilibrium of life, which is then restored through powerful, unprecedented, creative response of the collective. At the outset Karmayogi speaks of giving up our conceptions of time, finiteness, and possibility. This then is an occasion to move the collective from within. We are after all not just individual beings, but universal ones as well. Sri Aurobindo said that the French Revolution was precipitated by someone or some thing in the Himalayas.
Consecrating for the Sake of Others
Consecrating for the
Benefit of Others If we are so inclined, we can experiment and try to elicit good fortune for others. Certain basic rules of consecration will apply. E.g., the more intense the emotion we well up inside, the better. Also, the less attached to the result, allowing the Force to move as it sees fit (i.e. THY will instead of My Will Be done), the greater the effectivity and result. I would add one other rule: The effort to help another should be genuine and sincere. The more we feel genuine concern for the interest and concerns of others, the more likely they will garner the miraculous-like results. Throughout this site, dozens, if not hundreds of miraculous-like life response incidents have been presented that occurred through the action of the Higher Power. The overwhelming majority benefited our own person; far fewer were evoked for the sake of others. By "others,“ I don't mean our spouse, children, and families, where we stand to gain directly from the result. Rather, I am referring to more casual or less attached acquaintance, such as our friends, business associates, and people we work with. Interestingly, it is those who are a little more advanced in their conscious evolution (i.e. yoga) that are more likely to consecrate for the benefit of others. In fact, it is often the case that the beneficiary doesn’t even know that such devotees have been working on their behalf. When Sri Aurobindo’s divine consort, the Mother, was in the body, she constantly directed the Force onto those individuals who expressed their concerns and problems to her. Results would then come as Grace for them, though they rarely recognized the source. If Grace was withheld, it was because of an obstinate or otherwise wanting attitude or quality on their part. (Sri Karmayogi says that now that She has retired from the body and unencumbered by the limitations of the physical being, that power is even greater as She watches over, guides, and graces her followers from the subtle plane.) By the way, it is not necessary to reveal one’s self as the source of another’s success. In fact, in the most successful cases, the benefactor restrained himself from most if not all communication with the recipient, thereby evoking quick and powerful results. For example, in the late 1980s, Sri Karmayogi formed an international commission consisting of world luminaries in order to end the Cold War. Just as they were to have their first plenary meeting in Italy in 1989, the Berlin Wall fell and the Cold War ended, as he was able to evoke Her Force. Not more than a few dozen people in the world were privy to the fact. My favorite example of evoking the Force for others came a few years ago, where one close friend evoked powerful response for several other individuals and organizations: “One recent morning I sat down and concentrated in order to generate an attitude of goodwill to specific people I knew, and to aspects of work or life that I was directly related to. As it turned out, during that day I received back a series of reports of good news that related to the very things I had been concentrating on -- as well other aspects of work I had put aside because of lack of time. Here are the details: I had been concentrating on the health of a friend who had developed diabetes, and whose ailment I felt responsibility for because of my attitude, and the pressure I had placed upon him in work. Later in the day, I received word that his blood sugar levels had declined almost back to normal following treatment. I had also been sending goodwill to a client company I was working with, and praying that their revenues should increase. As it turned out, during the day, they closed a good-sized order that had earlier been in doubt. But there was still more. The previous day I had asked a marketing manager at the company about the progress on a proposed collaboration with another company that could generate big dividends for my client. The manager had said he had not made any progress on the proposal for the last six weeks. During the day of my concentration, however, he reported that the other company had suddenly contacted him and proposed flying into our city for the first meeting within five days time. There was also the senior manager of the company’s Bangalore branch office, who had been badly demotivated by the harsh words and treatment he received from the company’s Chief Financial Officer, which had in effect caused local morale to suffer. I concentrated on sending him goodwill as well, so that he could recover his usually cheerful, enthusiastic disposition. During the day, his assistant reported that the senior manager’s mood was back to normal for the first time in a month! I had also been praying that rain should come to drought-stricken Madras (India), where drinking water is in short supply. That day it rained heavily. Beyond these responses, there were two encouraging responses to my efforts of concentration concerning projects I had not been thinking about, but were high on my list of work to be accomplished. In the first case, I found myself seated on the plane exactly across the aisle from the head of a non-profit organization I had met nine years before. During the flight, he introduced himself and expressed serious interest in a development project that we wanted to promote but had not found the right agency for. It turned out that his agency would be the ideal candidate. In the other case, a newspaper headline carried information that another project we had worked on to promote for the past year may now have been received by the concerned parties.”
Consecrating a
Problem from the Depths Has Greatest Power
We can open
to the Force to consecrate any upcoming act to insure its
best outcome. Life will respond in our favor. We can also
consecrate a problem or even a wanting part of our being.
E.g. if we are anger or jealous, we can offer it to the
Higher Power which will begin to rapidly purify it. The
negative quality may never come to be expressed again
because the Force is so powerful.
Most
important is the level at which we self-offer that problem.
If e.g. we are jealous and go deep within to discover the
source of that jealousy within us and offer it to the
Divine, the result can be overwhelming. (It can have a bolt
of lightning effect on our being.) In that situation one has
gone to the depths of that plane -- in this case, the
vital/emotional -- to resolve a vital negative quality, the
jealousy. By going to that level, we evoke the greatest
response from life and for our long-term character.
Or to put it
another way; at the greatest effectivity in resolving a
problem is go to the corresponding deepest depths and
self-offer the problem to the Force. Maximum results will
ensue; in evoking positive response from the environment, as
well as a decisive change in your being.
There are
depths at each of the planes of our being -- physical
depths, as well as vital, heart, and mind depths. The
deepest depths are in our subliminal being and beyond to our
evolving soul; the psychic being.
Using the Force
to Overcome Our Limited Nature
We each have limits in our nature. There are our poor
attitudes, our fixed/unchanging nature, our questionable
opinions, our limited skill and capacity, and our physical
limitations to name a few. A person dedicated to personal
progress will make the concerted effort to overcome one or
several wanting qualities. And yet to make the decisive
change, one cannot do it all by one's self. One needs the
strength of something else. Not another person, or even a
guru, but the Force of the Spirit. Then over time there will
be a decisive change in one's nature.
If we identify a limitation in our nature, not only can we
try to change it as best we can, but we can offer it to the
spiritual Force and Power that is increasingly in the
earth's atmosphere. As a result of Its direct action, over
time, our nature will self correct. Thus, not only can we
consecrate to evoke positive conditions for upcoming events
or acts, but also to permanently transform our nature.
Those who are serious about progressing and evolving
themselves would be wise to avail themselves use of the
Force that has the power to transmute life.
My Progress through the Force
Offering Wanting Attitudes to
the Spirit to Evoke Positive Response

emphatic demands on what is to come.
It turns out that in the past year or two, I have been
experimenting with a closely related technique -- one that
can have an even more concentrated effect on ensuing events.
It is to connect with the spiritual Power, and then imagine
Its Light and Force descending and radiating down on the
participants in the upcoming meeting. It turns out that
every time I have practiced this technique, the results have
been staggering. For example, right after the activity
begins I learn that--
Each time I experienced one of these events, I felt a
profound miracle had taken place. It seemed that way because
something so radically different had occurred. And yet I was
still able to recognize that an Infinite consciousness and
power was responsible for these startling outcomes. When we summon that Light and Force,
imagining it descending and radiating down on the targeted
party, we engage in an unparalleled act of the spirit. We
evoke an infinite Power with the capacity to release
infinite possibilities for the targeted recipients as well
as ourselves. That being the case, why not give it a try?
An Experience at the County Courthouse I
had an experience the
other day that verifies
that the supramental
power Sri Aurobindo
uncovered, (otherwise
known as “the spiritual
Force,”) evokes
astonishing,
unprecedented life
movements. Moreover, it
unfolds through a
perfect melding and
fusion of two elements
-- Knowledge and Will --
two powers that it turns
out enabled the
supramental truth
consciousness to create
the universe from a
Divine Source. What
happened was that the
other day I had to
appear at the local
county courthouse.
Though the matter was
quite involved and a bit
unnerving, I consecrated
the event fully --
offering it to the
spiritual force, i.e.
supramental power. In
addition, I stopped all
thinking about the
procedures I was about
to go through, keeping
my mind completely
blank. Even though the
the issues I was about
to tackle were involved
and even intense, I
cleared my mind of all
thoughts and surrendered
everything to the divine
Mother. Over
the next several
minutes, I began to
experience an
astonishing sequence of
events. One by one,
every decision I made
proved to be the correct
one; in every moment I
seemed to be in the
right place; at each
point that thing fell
perfectly into place.
Life was cooperating at
every turn, with an
astonishing precision. It
was if I were on on a
magic carpet that was
carrying me through a
sequence of events that
perfectly dovetailed
with another. It was if
I had no mind of my own,
and all necessary
knowledge was provided
for me as I was carried
from point to point. This
was NOT human life I was
experiencing. This was
some future type of
human existence that Sri
Aurobindo called
“Supramental Life.” In
essence, through my
consecrated effort and
the stilling of my
thoughts, the the Force
replaced my own Will,
while also providing the
Knowledge when
understanding was
needed. These two,
Knowledge and Will, were
indistinguishable from
one another in my
consciousness. At each
moment there was the
Will to go to the next
point as well as the
Knowledge of how to do
it. They had been become
fused in my experience,
as I was their servant
and instrument. I was
thereby taken out of
time, overcoming space,
and experiencing life
outside the bounds of
normal causality. A
while later when I sat
down in the courtroom, I
was simply overwhelmed.
Even as I contemplated
the astonishing events
that had just occurred
(and were still
occurring), I felt a
deep peace envelop me.
As I sat there waiting
for the proceedings to
begin, I in a
trance-like stillness
that was accompanied by
a gentle blissfulness. I
could not imagine life
any more harmonious and
perfect.

Moves through One's Psychic Being to Invoke Life Response For example, an individual has a bill due to him, but the person paying the bill does not agree. There is conflict; the two individuals are separative. If one consecrates the situation and opens to the Force, the issue moves from one's ego and assertion to one's psychic, personal evolving soul. The psychic, with its ability to extend anywhere in the universe, knows what is Right, and finds the Right; in this case the correspondingly related Right of the other individual. This second individual's mind arrives at the same conclusion as yours. As a result, he is motivated to, and then pays. As the psychic is in the subtle plane, there is an instant life response. Thus consecration solves the problem.
Intuition
The Divine-Net
An individual is walking down the street
and is considering a problem. Where
would he look on the Internet for the
answer? It is unique, complex, and
personal. The solution is however
available on the Divine-Net. You still
your thoughts, move to a deeper poise
within, and open to the spiritual Force.
One more thing: you forget about the
matter. Two minutes later an intuition
of the complete solution to the problem
appears in your mind from out of thin
air. It is the power of the Divine-Net
in action. Another individual is about to make a sales presentation to a client. Through the Internet, she can find out about their needs, what is in stock, where they fit in on her schedule, and so forth. Beyond that, the transaction depends on her skills, persuasiveness, will, energy, et al. What seems beyond control is the outcome and fate of the event. What is needed is luck. With the Divine-Net this same person opens to the Higher Power. As a result, the conditions of life are immediately set in order; i.e. luck is created. E.g., the client who said he would be 1/2 hour late is actually 5 minutes early. The $5000 hoped for order becomes $20,000 when the owner reveals that he has opened three new locations. In addition, when this woman returns to her office, she experiences a revelation of an entirely new marketing scheme, which she adopts and revolutionizes her business. These miraculous-like events took place because she concentrated a moment and tapped into the infinite power of the Divine-Net.
Then one day a third individual comes up
with a brilliant idea. Why not combine
the Internet and the Divine-Net. Why not
gather the knowledge -- including its
principles and methods -- of the
Divine-Net in a central location for all
in the world to access. This enhanced
Supernet even has algorithms that take
into account a person's current
situations, demands, and state of mind.
It is thus cosmically intelligent and
aware of the Flow of Life for any and
all persons. It can therefore be
broadcast instantaneously to each
specific user, providing a highly

Jury Duty
When that fourth day rolled around, my friend's name was finally
called. The attorneys then proceeded to ask if she would be

defendant perhaps because she had been a victim herself. It
turns out that was precisely the case over 25 years ago to a
similar crime. She was then interviewed privately, where she

The effect of a
consecrated effort depends on the motive and attitude that
is brought to bear, and the receptivity of the individual.
Approaches & Ways
to Consecrate I myself think about situations at
the outset of the day and silently offer each one that comes to mind to
the Force. Then as I engage in particular activities in the course of
the day - e.g. before a major meeting, at the outset of a class, or
starting writing session; or even before a meal or sleep; I offer that
act up silently.
One can offer up acts, current situations, problems,
limits in attitude and capacity, untoward feelings, as well as
aspirations you hope to achieve in life.
Some people need to verbalize the
thought. Others spontaneously offer the current condition, situation
without formulating it into a mental thought.
When there is an intense situation, the consecration
tends to have the mark of prayer. For others, it may always seem like a
prayer.
The key is the sincerity in the act of consecration,
the intensity one brings to the effort, and the faith one has in the
outcome, without any demands for specific results.
When the act of consecration becomes a joyful one - with a happy relationship with the Divine Mother or other conduit of the spiritual Force and power -- you know you are going in the right direction.

Subconscious

The
subconscious is aware of a coming successful outcome for
one's self even as our conscious being isn't. When Darcy and
Eliza in Pride and Prejudice meet coincidentally at the hill
top in the film version, their subconscious knew of their
own intent; which is in fact what compelled them to go.
And yet if we offer any matter to the spiritual Force (i.e.
engage in the act if consecration), we can evoke that same
response consciously, meaning that we can bring good fortune
to ourselves at any moment in time.
Consecrating a
Problem from the Depths Has Greatest Power
We can open
to the Force to consecrate any upcoming act to insure its
best outcome. Life will respond in our favor. We can also
consecrate a problem or even a wanting part of our being.
E.g. if we are anger or jealous, we can offer it to the
Higher Power which will begin to rapidly purify it. The
negative quality may never come to be expressed again
because the Force is so powerful.
Most
important is the level at which we self-offer that problem.
If e.g. we are jealous and go deep within to discover the
source of that jealousy within us and offer it to the
Divine, the result can be overwhelming. (It can have a bolt
of lightning effect on our being.) In that situation one has
gone to the depths of that plane -- in this case, the
vital/emotional -- to resolve a vital negative quality, the
jealousy. By going to that level, we evoke the greatest
response from life and for our long-term character.
Or to put it
another way; at the greatest effectivity in resolving a
problem is go to the corresponding deepest depths and
self-offer the problem to the Force. Maximum results will
ensue; in evoking positive response from the environment, as
well as a decisive change in your being.
There are
depths at each of the planes of our being -- physical
depths, as well as vital, heart, and mind depths. The
deepest depths are in our subliminal being and beyond to our
evolving soul; the psychic being.
Asking for What is Best in our Consecrated Efforts
When we ask for something for the Divine on a particular
subject, we should ask for what is best for us, for what is
of the highest consciousness, instead of what our vital
desires and demands. E.g. instead of asking for a mate with
such and such physical features, ask for the person who is a
fine person and would be the very best for our growth and
progress; and there's too. Or instead of praying that this
particular venue is the one to pursue to purchase an item
because it is familiar to us or has the latest styles, ask
the Divine to choose what is the best outlet, the best means
and approach, the most useful and beneficial form, etc. At
the point we broaden our aspiration to its highest
possibility, we shed the limits of Ego, enabling greater
receptivity in our being, hence the ability to attract the
most benefit and success. From that consciousness and poise,
the spiritual Force will bring us wonderful results.
Prayer Before Beginning Work
My prayer of late upon beginning work is: Divine Mother,
transform me where I can be transformed; change me where I
can be changed.
Intensity of
Consecration
Intensity of Consecration Consecration in the Emotions,
the Mind "Unattached Intensity" in Perfecting Consecration Yet another interesting aspect of consecration is that the more intense the consecration, (a) the more likely life will respond outside ourselves, and (b) the greater will be the quality of the response. By "intensity" we mean that our ardor for the Divine Help should be sincere, passionate, deep, and full. Conversely, we need to be careful that our ego does not get in the way of our consecrated effort. E.g., there should be no demand or insistence on a particular outcome. Instead, we should accept the results that come, for the Divine is always looking out for us, even if we initially misinterpret the results that come. In the end, an approach of "unattached intensity" would be ideal; one that will tend to attract the greatest results in the shortest period of time. E.g. as a result of the consultant's intense, yet unattached consecration, there was a wonderful response, which took two forms -- the practical results that solved the problem, as well as the spiritual results that permeated the atmosphere. As we practice consecration on a regular basis, we will find that intensity and ardor -- as well as patience, positive attitude, cheerfulness, and equality -- will always serve us well; just as expectation and demand will delay or cancel the action of the Force.
Not to Ask of, but to Surrender to Her Force The goal is not to ask the Divine, the divine Mother for favors (which She invariably bestows on us through miraculous-like circumstance), but to constantly open up to, surrender to the spirit, Her Force, which enables the progressive growth and elevation of our consciousness, while bringing under control life around us.

(consecration) for another person's sake. However, when
results come to others that do not conform to our
expectations, we are disappointed. But a true faith in the
Higher Power would lead to an attitude that the results that
come through the action of the Spirit is in fact the Divine
Intent.

they were disappointed. Yet, I was not. In fact, the result
that came was some of the most positive developments in this
person's life if only they saw it in a wider context (which
the recipient of this grace began to do). It was an opening
to an entirely new and wonderful phase in that person's
life, even though what was prayed for did not meet others'
expectations in their prayer. It is the difference between
"MY will be done," and "THY will be done" in the invocation
of the Spirit. It makes all the difference in the attitude
toward the prayer, as well as the result.

consecrated effort comes when there is an intense faith in
the Force, while leaving it up to that Power to determine
what will come. It is often formulated as "Thy Will Be
Done."

In these
times of vast collective and individual change and
challenge, faith in the Force and a self-offering to the
Divine in the form of THY Will Be Done will enable us to
cross the threshold.
'THY Will Be
Done' in Troubled Times
In these times when life challenges us from so many
directions, one is left with one ultimate solution -- THY
Will Be done. If your job is at risk, you discover that your
physical problems have gotten worse, and you are slipping
into mild depression, it is then best to offer the entire
matter to the Higher Power, asking that Its Will be done.
Better yet offer one's entire life and being to the Divine,
not asking to solve this or that. With intensity, an almost
desperate prayer, ask the Divine to take one's life in the
direction It seeks for you. It is thus THY will be done, not
My. That aspiration and prayer will surely be answered as
life gives way, slowly or rapidly, and you are catapulted
upward in a new direction.
Only then
will it be revealed real purpose of all your troubles: That
life was directing you into the next phase of your life, and
giving you greater faith in the Spirit to direct and guide
your life in the future.

Such deep feelings normally well up when there is intense difficulty, or better still when the vital has permanently opened to Mother, an achievement that is quite difficult for a Westerner like myself. After the emotion and prayer passes, one should remain still and steady and do the work with joy, cheerfulness, patience, and positive attitude. One then becomes a wonderful conduit for Her Force. Miracles WILL happen.

The Level We Relate to Mother Has Commensurate Effect when Broadcasting Her I read the back thread m referred to, and came to this statement from Karmayogi (that R noted): "Mother gives more as we understand more of Her. Mother as God, Mother as Force, Mother as a creative Force, a transforming Force, as an Institution, as a subtle Institution of consciousness." It is an issue I have been absorbed in recently (and in the past). Who is Mother really? We have discussed it in another thread. If I knew who she was, I would have more faith at that level of intensity, which would create commensurate results. And so the other night after reading 'Man in the Evolution,' one of the latter chapters of The Life Divine, I thought about the supramental power that is the key to our ultimate transformation, -- i.e. the evolution to our ultimate possibility, to the next species, which enables a Divine Life on Earth. If we aspire to get there, to become supramental beings, then opening to the supramental Force, Her Force is absolutely necessary, as we are not capable of attaining it by ourselves alone. So if want that New Life, we have to give ourselves to the Force, to Her. It thus struck me that if we have this aspiration for this New World, then when we open to Mother, it will have that commensurate power. Hence Karmayogi's quote about the success of the Light we send will depend on our motive. If the motive is to bring about supramental life, instead of current life, then the Light or Goodwill we send through Mother will have tremendous power and effectivity. Remember, Karmayogi says: Mother gives more as we understand more of Her. If we understand Her as the instrument for this New Existence, then consecrating, sending light, calling, or whatever method we choose will have a commensurate greater effect. If she IS the supramental power and I truly aspire for the New World, then when I send Her Light and Force for the sake of others, then the results will be that much more creative, dynamic, and powerful. So now it is time to practice this approach with this idea of Her Being the instrument for one's own ultimate transformation, supramentalization and a Divine Life on Earth; and that sending Her Light or Goodwill to others in that spirit will bring a little piece of that New World to them (and one’s self) on that occasion. I.e. a part of that New World would suddenly appear, in some way, in some manner, as a result.
Unfaith Blocks the Actions of
the Force
Consecration, Energy, and Sincerity Then the question is how do we garner the right balance of energies that are just the right condition for, that promote efforts of consecration? I would like to offer one, though there are many. It is Sincerity. I.e. do we really want to engage in a spiritual life or do we want Mother to help us only in desperate situations? Sincerity concentrates our energies on the Divine intent, will, and action. It focuses psychological and spiritual energies, promoting consecration, just as avoiding the negative qualities sap our energies. Sri Aurobindo says the yoga in miniature is "Aspiration, Rejection, and Surrender." Part of aspiration is sincerity. Actually, it flows through all three aspects. E.g., do we really want Mother? (Sincerity of Aspiration) Do we really want to change our wanting qualities? (Sincerity of Rejection) Do we want to give our lives to Mother? (Sincerity of Surrender) If we do, there will always be the right balance and focus of energy, which will compel us to consecrate on a regular basis. Then our lives will be thrilling, an endless wonder, as we see the continuous effect of the Divine Mother's supramental action on earth.
Making Consecration Continuous by
Moving Within What then can we do to prevent the reoccurrence of the obstacles presented by the unevolved, obstinate, unyielding, and inflexible lower nature? One answer is that we can move our center of consciousness and frame of reference away from the surface of life to a deeper poise within. From that status, we are less likely to find ourselves caught up in the intensities of the surface, and thus we are less likely to lose our focus and interest in consecrating our actions. Through meditation, concentration (i.e. inner, one-pointed focus), and other disciplines, we can shift our moment-to-moment awareness away from the surface of life -- from its bubblings, allures, and intensities -- to a deeper state within. From that poise, we are more likely to feel that urge to consecrate our actions, leading to ever-more frequent wondrous positive responses from life.

In the end what occurs when living within and opened to the Force is that for you future possibilities are realized in the present; infinities of possibilities break out where only the finite seemed to reside; life responds positively from seemingly out of nowhere; knowledge that would have taken weeks or months to acquire simply appears in the mind. In other words, our perceptions of cause and effect, the inner and the outer, time and space, of the finite and the infinite, are rendered obsolete. Consecration that Connects Us to the "Inner Voice" [Note: This was written in response to the issue of how we can develop the subtle sense that guides us to take right actions that enable life to respond.] Sri Aurobindo and Karmayogi constantly speak of the Inner Being. There we find the subconscient, the subliminal, and the psychic. They are all subconscious to us. The subconscient is mostly negative in that it is the source of human pessimism, feeling of the inevitability of disease and death, bad dreams, etc. Yet it can evolve. In fact, both Sri Aurobindo and Mother indicate its transformation is the key to enabling the supramental transformation, particularly at the cellular level as Mother experimented with. The subliminal sits astride the subconscient and is very positive. It receives positive vibrations from the superconscient (essentially the transcendent Divine). I believe it is the basis for which the subconscient can be transformed. The Psychic is beyond (or deeper still). It is the evolving soul and is the ultimate personal spark of the spirit within us. It is evolving, hoping to derive the essence of our experience. It has travelled through many lives, including ours in its own evolution. For the purpose of the "Inner Voice," the positive Subliminal can serve a vital role. It is always sending positive messages to the surface of our being. Giving subtle, right Guidance. Our experiences indicate this. It is, as I mentioned, in touch with the universal and transcendent influences (superconscient). It is subtly informing us of what is right and what isn't; of what to do and what not to do. The more we are in touch with it, the better. We can be more connected with it when our orientation is inner; i.e. in a poise of the depths of our being. How to move to the depths is a profound yogic issue. For we who are only on the edge of yoga (conscious evolution), constant consecration forges a connection to those depths, including the Subliminal and its positive influences. In other words, the more we consecrate -- open to the spiritual Force, to Mother -- the more we come in touch with the Inner Voice. So the simple solution to subtle based decision-making -- i.e. "hearing" and acting on the Inner Voice -- is constant consecration. Doing so shifts us away from the surface consciousness to the depths where the inner voice is always at our disposal to guide us. The Psychic Being is the Ultimate Guide -- at each of the mental, vital, and physical levels. It requires great yogic effort for us to penetrate it. Sri Aurobindo succeeded and said it was his greatest discovery. Thus positive influences come from above -- e.g. intuition and supramental -- as well as below (subliminal and psychic). To be in touch with both strengthens the Inner Voice that can give us the knowledge to act rightly, have life respond, and thereby begin to build a new spirit-based life on earth. Single Point, All-Inclusive
Concentration as Foundation of Consecration Consecration from the Poise of the All Inclusive Psychic Being Consecration produces the greatest results when it is a highly concentrated effort. When we move to the depths of our being, we develop an inner poise of concentration from which consecration will produce the greatest effect. And yet the deepest poise we can have is to connect with our Psychic Being and True Self and call in the spiritual Force from there. The connection from there is all-inclusive, and therefore the results are ultimate and ultimately transformative. All-Inclusive Concentration from Psychic
Being that Enables Ultimate Consecration Life Response Power All-Inclusive Concentration— -moves the centre of thinking above the
head. -moves the centre of being behind the
heart. -moves the mind on the surface to inner
mind and finally to the subliminal. -opens the psychic in the mind. -fills the surface mind with Silence,
pushing it a little towards the Higher Mind. -moves the past a little way, as figures

short while to intuition, fully opening the mind to insight,
generating lightning flashes of the vision of Supermind. -weakens the ego rendering it less

mind. (Karmayogi) --------- (I am continuing here …) How then to engage in all-inclusive concentration, which in essence enables an ultimate form of Consecration, and these multifaceted results? One time a number of years ago I did a
meditation with other devotees in Napa, California, where
the goal was to reach the Psychic Being within, and from
there call Mother. I do not recall the results; as it was a
onetime endeavor that I am not sure I ever followed up. Perhaps this approach is what Appa means
by the all-inclusive concentration that will enable us to
attract these ultimate Life Response results. In other
words, when the concentration is from the poise of the
Psychic Being, the consecrated effort is all-inclusive,
evoking all the startling and transformative results Appa
has listed above. It may be the ultimate power of the
yogi, or Sri Aurobindo's yoga, or at least for the devotee. Karmayogi adds this point (from another
source): The All-inclusive concentration HE [Sri Aurobindo] demands of us [as explained in Synthesis of Yoga and elsewhere] is one which has not only universal spread, but has the centre in the Individual who has identified himself with the transcendent in the universe. Concentration,
Consecration, Psychic Being, Surrender Connection
to Inner Being (Spiritual Concentration) Enables Constant Consecration MSS Answer: We are in nature and therefore are not in touch with the Being. So we often call and forget. To remember the soul or the psychic is to be in touch with the being when we do not lose contact.
All-Inclusive Concentration
If we focus all of our being inward to a single point, it is all
inclusive. How is this done? E.g. in our minds we can to concentrate
exclusively on a single aspiration we have in life so that it might be
accomplished. It then gathers a power and tends to manifest. (If we also
consecrate it to the Mother, it has added causal power). We can also
focus on a point behind the heart, and other locales.
There is a more ultimate purpose of all inclusive concentration. It is a
method that will enable our full surrender and self-consecration to the
Divine. As Sri Aurobindo puts it in The Synthesis of Yoga:
"The effective fullness of our concentration on the one thing needful to
the exclusion of all else will be the measure of our self- consecration
to the One who is alone desirable."
Positive Atmosphere for Surrendering
The atmosphere is currently very ripe for self-surrendering
efforts, not just when circumstance are negative, but when
they are neutral or even positive. Taking up this continuous
opportunity, opens us up to good fortune far more often, as
the neutral or positive is the general human condition.
Consecration and the Limits of Our Receptivity
The quality of the results of our consecrated efforts is
dependent on our Receptivity, which is held back by our
fixed habits, our wanting attitudes, and our questionable
motives and beliefs.

Force Does Not Move In addition, if we demand, insist on specific results from the spirit, or take to any other ego movement in the prayer, there may not be a response. It waits on us to give it up, which moves us from the individual to the universal plane, which releases the right energies, allowing the positive response to move towards us. Varying Results from Consecration If one consecrates an event, and there is no positive causal life response, then it may be that we are not looking around or deep enough to see its effect. Or, in fact, there other possibilities. It may be that what we are looking for as a result is not what life presents. In that case we need to overcome our desire, accept what is given. Other times there may not seem to be any response whatsoever. If this is the case, then life is compelling you to look within yourself and discover a limiting capacity (attitude, habit, action, etc.) that needs to be changed. When one changes that, and then consecrates that change, a great positive life response will take place. (If we cannot fathom that which needs to be overcome in ourselves, we can call in the Force to either reveal that which is causing the problem in our nature and then overcome it, or call in the force to dissolve that blockage. What Prevents Us from Consecrating in the First Place
Breaking the Habit to Enable Consecration Consecration is to offer acts and situations of life to the Higher Power, so that It it can bring the conditions of life under control, setting everything right in our favor. It is the wonder of the power of the descending Force in action. Then why can't we more readily take to consecration? Why is it so sporadic, or taken to only in situations which are so difficult that we are compelled to surrender to the Divine Force? The knot of human consciousness is not just in our attitudes and beliefs, but at a more intransigent level, in our habits; in our habitual nature. Moreover, out subconscious fixes that habitual nature -- inherited from matter and our animality -- preventing us from doing things differently. That includes taking to consecration. I.e. our habitual way of doing things rooted in the subconscious does not want interruption the routine and usual flow of life in order to consecrate. Slowly we can take to more frequent consecration, perhaps one day reaching the level of an Appa, who e.g. consecrates every incoming phone call, and much more. This takes great, nearly yogic effort. Interestingly we can consecrate the fact that we do not consecrate at a more frequent level. It will help. I tried consecrating every hour, but was only able to do so when problems were dear. The same with 15 minute Callings. Yet, I know of several who have conquered this. As was pointed out by an associate, the more we aspire for the Divine (or Divine Mother), the more there will be a descent of higher energy and consciousness, which will in turn compel more consecration. Mother says only the supramental force will conquer the fixidity and habitual nature of the subconscious which keeps habits intact. Sri Aurobindo says develop an inner poise. From there we will tend to consecrate more often. It is also true that the more we consecrate, the more we move in deeper, and the more often intuitional thought to consecrate will appear in our minds. Some simply have the mental discipline to consecrate at greater frequency. In that way, they are practicing great self-discipline. They are overcoming habit, which is a yogic effort. In these various ways -- aspiration for the divine, self-offering of our habitual nature, moving from surface to depths, mental discipline of effort -- we can break the fixidity of our nature, opening the floodgates for continuous consecration. If we succeed, we will be taken to the next plane of life, enjoying the fruits of the supramental action in our lives.
Consecration, Energy, and Sincerity Then the question is how do we garner the right balance of energies that are just the right condition for, that promote efforts of consecration? I would like to offer one, though there are many. It is Sincerity. I.e. do we really want to engage in a spiritual life or do we want Mother to help us only in desperate situations? Sincerity concentrates our energies on the Divine intent, will, and action. It focuses psychological and spiritual energies, promoting consecration, just as avoiding the negative qualities sap our energies. Sri Aurobindo says the yoga in miniature is "Aspiration, Rejection, and Surrender." Part of aspiration is sincerity. Actually, it flows through all three aspects. E.g., do we really want Mother? (Sincerity of Aspiration) Do we really want to change our wanting qualities? (Sincerity of Rejection) Do we want to give our lives to Mother? (Sincerity of Surrender) If we do, there will always be the right balance and focus of energy, which will compel us to consecrate on a regular basis. Then our lives will be thrilling, an endless wonder, as we see the continuous effect of the Divine Mother's supramental action on earth.
Calling the
Divine Method
What "Calling" Is "Calling" the Divine, the Divine Mother is a form of consecration in which there may no particular short term objective, such as improving an upcoming activity or overcoming a problem, but the attempt to bring more of her Force into our being to evoke multi-sided benefit to our person and life around us. Calling then is simply the act of bringing more of the spiritual Force in our lives. It can last for several minutes or even several days. E.g. calling the Mother for 3 days straight can eliminate a serious problem that has been dogging us for years, or getting us out of a serious financial hole, or to overcome a major deficiency in our nature. One can do this by sitting alone or with others, and calling down the Force at three hour intervals over the course of those days. The result is bound to be a staggering change in the conditions of life for us.
Engage in a Calling to Resolve an Issue
Invoking the Spirit As Silence is one aspect of the Spirit, Peace, Unity, Truth, Knowledge, Power, Beauty, Love, Joy, Infinity and Eternity are also aspects of Spirit. As soon as Silence descends, a great power develops. You feel like getting up and running. When Peace enters you, you see it is full of energy. Light entering the mind answers unresolved questions. Beauty makes you lose yourself. Joy thrills. Love fills the heart. In practice ONLY one aspect enters you. Most people cannot keep quiet. They jump up and act. That is the end of it. Once some aspect of Spirit descends, one has to be extraordinarily PATIENT till many other aspects also descend on him. At a certain moment, the inner strength becomes sufficient to raise a voice. That voice is the inner human voice, calling the Spirit or the Mother who is the Mother of Spirit. That call releases a spiritual peace, unattainable even in death. It enters the nerves, fills the cells of the body, i.e. the very Being. After such a call is saturated, the inner Spirit itself begins to call the outer Spirit. It is Jivatma calling Paramatma. Using the Spiritual Force to Bring out the Divinity
in All Things
The more we are in touch with the
Supramental Force, the spiritual power
of the divine Mother, the more we can
bring out the infinite Existence/Being
(sat), Conscious Force (chit), and
Delight (ananda) involved, hidden in all
things.
Since Her Force is in the atmosphere and
fully available to everyone; it is just
a matter of choosing to use it, so that
we can collaborate and transform human
life into Divine Life.
Luck (consciousness levels of)
Unconscious, Conscious, and Infinite
Luck through the Force
Normal Luck is due to a rise in
consciousness of the individual. It
often occurs in tandem of being in touch
with emerging movements of society. We
can call this "unconscious" or
"semi-conscious" Luck. Conscious Luck
occurs through self-awareness that
activates a commensurate and deliberate
rise in consciousness. It can accelerate
to Infinity by calling in the spiritual
Force, which sets right life's
conditions and propels one and others to
the stars.
How to Consecrate
What and How I Consecrate
Consecrating all the tasks in the day is
pretty ambitious. I myself consecrate
key upcoming events, after which I see
serious results. Also I consecrate
problems. Then in recent times I have
moved onto problems of my nature. And
now I focus on smaller things, including
the smaller tasks of the day; even micro
events as they come up spontaneously.
Also, I usually don't go to the next
level until I receive a modicum of
concrete results i.e. response at the
current one.
Also there is an important difference
between offering the act as a wholesome
genuine aspiration for good to happen,
as opposed to demanding what one wants,
which brings in ego. Ego can come in
many ways. The attitude of "Thy Will Be
Done" is a key to a true self-offering
to the Force. There is no demand of
particulars. You just offer the act and
have trust in the answer.
Levels of Consecrating
Level 1 (Ego-oriented) vs. Level 2
(Surrender-oriented) Consecration
The first stage of consecration is normally to ask
the Divine Mother to satisfy some need
or resolve some problem. The Ego is the
cornerstone of that level. A higher one
is to open to and become an instrument
of the Mother and to Surrender to Her
Will, whatever that may be. Few if any
have come up to that, though we can
aspire to make it happen.
Here are some examples:
Level 1: Mother may the conditions for this coming
week produce benefits that aid my career
and finances.
Level 2: Mother may the conditions for this coming
week reflect your Will, and be of
benefit to my consciousness and growth.
Level 1: May this meeting go well so that I am able
to land this considerable account.
Level 2: May your Will be established in this
meeting, and may I follow it with faith
and diligence.
Level 1: May I change this faulty attitude so that
I can attract the highest sales (the
highest position, the woman of my
dreams, etc.)
Level 2: May I change my attitude so that I can be
a clear instrument; so I can better
follow Your Will and Intent.
Level 1: Please Mother, may I offer this great
financial debt to you so I can emerge on
the other side.
Level 2: May I understand that having this debt is
due to an inadequate amount of faith in
and relationship with you in the first
place.
Level 1: Mother, I offer you this work I am about
to do so it ends in a positive outcome.
Level 1: Mother, may my lost wallet be found.
Level 2: Mother, may I understand where I have lost
contact with you that would enable me to
lose this wallet in the first place.
Levels of Relating to the Divine Mother
to Attract the Infinite from the Finite
Lower Level: "Mother, such and such is my problem.
Please help."
Higher Level: "Mother, make me what you want. I
will follow."
As a result, Knowledge is given of what to do, as
it percolates from the subconscious to
our conscious awareness. We can now act
accordingly. Infinity enters the finite.
The more we think of the Mother for its own sake,
the more the Grace. Our intensity is the
spigot. Our receptivity determines the
dimensions of the container.

pricked by something or someone. This is
for the surface mind, and the pain is
received inside. If aligned with Mother
and Her Force, the pain will disappear
instantly. Alignment with Mother will
clear all the bubbles of surface mind
and will give silence and peace of the

Nearly every time I offer a series of intractable problems to the
Mother before going to bed, when I wake
in the morning I learn that they have
all been solved on their own. This is my
constant experience.

Every shock is indicated beforehand if
we observe life, our lives closely.
Karmayogi says there are absolutely no
exceptions to the fact that everything
has a predecessor. It at that point we
only had the wherewithal to perceive
this future shock indicator and
consecrate it, we could overcome the
trauma that ensued. Better still, if we
live from a deeper poise and constantly
consecrate from there, there will be few
shocks, and even these will be perceived
as purposeful in their wider context.
Mental Problem
Consecrating a Problem Requiting a
Mental Solution
When you consecrate a problem requiring
a mental solution that till now has
defied you, the complete answer tends to
come quickly, often as an intuition of
knowledge.
Consecrating + Goodwill Resolves Problem
Consecration + Goodwill Received Resolves Problem
In tandem with consecrating the problem, goodwill
received from another can suddenly
negate the difficulty. The two energies
working in tandem quickly and
surprisingly resolve the issue.
Micro Acts/Events
Micro Precise, Instantaneous Response to
the Smallest Acts
I am noticing an increasing micro
precision of response to my micro
evocation of the Force.
Further Explanation:
When I consciously consecrate an
important upcoming activity, life
cooperates. It is plain for me to see.
Now, however, I am starting to
consecrate in small moments, for the
tiniest of circumstance, and the results
are instantaneously positive; zero
delay.
One thought is that the result is
faster because the scope is more
limited.
Recently I have seen when I am going
along, and apply it to the smallest
thing, life instantly reverses in my
favor. E.g. I consecrate when on a food
line, and I suddenly move up much
faster. Now I do the same a moment later
for receiving the change, and I am
charged half what I thought. I then walk
to the creamery to get some condiments,
and there are several flavors where
there was only one before. And so forth.
Every time I think of Mother, in rapid
succession for these mini results as
above, or an isolated mini event I
suddenly consecrate, the response is
instantaneous, and it has a micro
precision relative to what I am
consecrating; i.e. the result precisely
matches that which I have consecrated,
not some other related result. Thus,
whatever I put my attention on instantly
cooperates; nothing peripheral; very
exacting related to that item. I put my
mind there, and that changes; there, and
that changes; boom, boom, boom. No
waste. Direct. Nothing else. That thing
alone, precisely that is altered. And it
happens ANY TIME I do it! When in the
middle of anything.
The fact that the response is so rapid
and precise means that the power is
either densifying in the atmosphere, or
I am becoming a better vehicle, or I am
making more conscious mini efforts, or
all of the above. And then there is a
small part of me says "wow this is
crazy. It's too much power." But that is
a feeble excuse that is half-heartedly
trying to retard me from using that
power that much more.
In any case, the opportunity is there to
move everything before me, including the
tiniest detail in the course of the day.
I am merely at a nascent stage of this
extraordinary experiment.
'Satsang' further responds:
Yes Sir! I am not able to explain or
sometimes even understand what happens
in my life in such very small events
nowadays. Whether I am consecrating or
remembering The Mother mechanically, I
don't know, but many times, you think,
and it occurs or something relevant to
it happens! I am awestruck, even get
scared sometimes and start worrying,
seeing the instantaneous changes around
me! It is something like walking on the
edge of a knife, but without getting
hurt! I think you understand me Sir!
In Work
Bringing the Spirit into Our Daily Works
Reader: I feel that one major difficulty is that
remembering Mother is so joyful that one
may prefer it to engaging in work. This
was perhaps the problem faced by
old-style yogis, particularly the
sannyasins. The temptation to completely
reject the 'mundane' is constant.
Response: Sri Aurobindo indicated ALL life is Yoga.
I.e. it is an occasion for collaborate
in bringing the Divine into every detail
of life. In that way, we can bring in
Her Force to every aspect of work,
transmuting it into its divine
counterpart. The experience is so
enthralling that it will be difficult to
run away from life and lose ourselves in
Samadhi. This is the challenge before
us, and I know many who have taken it up
and are trying to do just that.
Consecrating a Difficult Work
The more extreme and difficult the work,
the more fully you should rely on the
Mother, the Divine Force, which will
greatly facilitate the process and ease
your mind.
To Overcome Ignorance
Normal Human Choice vs. Consecration
Power that Overcomes Ignorance and
Brings About Ultimate Knowledge and
Success
Normal human choice leads to part success only, if
at all, as it is based on our Ignorance,
which is an exclusive, very limited
knowledge propped up by the
separativeness of the Ego. Consecration,
on the other hand -- i.e. opening and
surrendering to the spiritual Force --
overcomes all forms of Ignorance,
bringing Integral Truth knowledge into
play, as well as Life Response Power to
perfect and rapidly bring out the
greatest success in any endeavor.
Mind's
Transformation
Consecration and Transformation of Mind
Constant consecration with tend to overcome the
limits of sense-mind (dominated by
visual and auditory inputs) which
constantly makes error and comes to
wrong conclusions;
will make the mind more rational
and logical (Rational Mind) where it now
does not exercise that capacity enough;
will in the silence and halting of
thinking open the mind to clear thought
(Silent Mind); will
enable intuition that is light,
illumination, or knowledge of a thing
without thought (Intuitive Mind); and
will bring about integral, many-sided
knowledge of a thing without thought,
where each thing is known in unity to
every other, plus has a power to
manifest on earth as a real form and

For
Health/Well-Being
Overcoming the Infirmities of Old Age
through the Spiritual Force
The physical transformation is the most
difficult of all the planes, as it is
rooted in the nescience, the fixidity,
and unchangability of matter.
Mother worked hard to bring the Force
into the mind of the cells to change
their programming. She succeeded only in
part, though miraculously she overcame
nearly every illness that came her way
(which were of an astounding variety).
I would think that there are certain
illnesses we can overcome beginning with
such things as colds and viruses. We can
develop an inner power and open to Her
Force to keep these at bay, so they
don't penetrate the subtle, outer sheath
of the physical, as Sri Aurobindo used
to say. Not panicking and giving in to
the subconscious when illness first
rises is a start.
However, when the illnesses are bound
more to the functionings of the physical
organs and such, the power of the Force
needs to be great, and one needs be a
pure, divine instrument for there to be
an effect.
Still Karmayogi indicates that we should now be
able to live as long as Mother did (94)
if we are receptive. Overcoming the
decay of the body is at an entirely
other level, requiring complete
surrender to the Force at every point.
We should keep in mind that Mother was
also already transformed at the mental
and vital level, and was ready to make
the physical change, for her body to be
supramentalized. We are hardly at that
state minimum state of developed
consciousness in mind and vital, though
we can certainly develop ourselves to
move in that direction.
The elderly and the infirm have plenty of time to
change their mental and vital nature,
paving the way to a certain new level of
physical change. It would seem like
suffering in old age can be dramatically
reduced, and there can be a more
comfortable, energetic, and serene life
in the waning years through a psychic
and supramental Force opening.
Ultimately Mother aspired for the
arrival of the New Body, the supramental
being who does not suffer, does not have
physical ailments, and can live as long
as one wishes to. This being has no or
far fewer organs in the first place
however, and is thus immune from decay,
as there is nothing to wither. All
organs, such as lungs and digestion are
replaced with centers of consciousness.
We can connect the two extremes, and
make experiment in our own lives. Total
Surrender, Faith, and Positive feeling
are the best conditions for taking to
this physical adventure in
consciousness.
For Overcoming Time
Evoking Positive Life Response for Past,
Present, and Future
By opening to the spiritual Force we can
attract the positive in any combination
of past, present, and future. How can
that be?
If I consecrate a friend's upcoming trip
in the present, all will go well for him
and then some in the future when he
embarks on his journey.
If a friend is going to tell me about
his recent trip, and I consecrate it
before he tells me, then he will report
that all went well in the past. I.e. his
success in his past was enabled by my
consecration that came from his future.
In other words, when I consecrate I am
not just in the present, but the
Ever-Present that enables ultimate
positive possibilities in past, present,
and future.
Actually, from the perspective of this
Eternal Now there is no separation of
these three, as they are one continuum
of time that is really Timelessness.
Mother Fulfills in the Past Our
Aspiration in the Present
The Mother can fulfill something before
we even aspire for it. I.e., She can
fulfill in the past our consecrated
effort for something we asked for in the
present.
For Evoking Infinite from Finite
Evoking the Infinite from the Finite by Opening to
Supramental Force is a Practical Concept
Evoking the Infinity from life is, as Karmayogi
says, a "Practical Concept." It's as
practical as breathing and eating and
walking. When we open to the supramental
Force, to the Mother, it happens; life
moves, and vast results come (infinite)
where there was hardly anything before
(finite).
Dozens of people we know have evoked these powerful
life response results hundreds if not
thousands of times -- showing that
evoking the Infinite from the Finite is
indeed a very practical concept. It is
the way of accomplishment of Tomorrow;
it is the way the Inner Moves the Outer;
a reflection of how the Creator created
an infinite universe from out of a
Divine Source.
For Our Conscious Evolution (Yoga)
Integral Yoga that Begins with Constant,
Intense Consecration
I find the integral yoga of Sri
Aurobindo and The Mother very simple for
me. Before I do anything, especially
important, I deeply and intensely offer,
consecrate the event to Her, to the
supramental Force that has descended in
the atmosphere, and thereafter
everything goes right relative to those
circumstance. Life responds in
astonishing way, and you are constantly
left breathless.
It also has the behind the scenes effect
of transforming your being. E.g. subtly
shifting your attitudes to the positive,
creating the silent Witness
Consciousness that stands back and
observes, having feelings of richness
and blissfulness within, making the
connection to the Psychic Being
(Evolving Soul) where you know your
ultimate purpose of being, continuous
experiences of Oneness with other and
life, a merging with the transcendent,
and Mind rising to the heights through
sudden descents of intuition of the
multi-sided truth of any thing under
consideration.
In other words, space and time are
overcome; and the infinite emerges from
the finite as response from life.
These are increasingly my daily
experience. What is described in the
first para is becoming quite common; and
what is described in the second is
beginning to take hold.
For the Development of True Self, Psychic Being
Consecration, Psychic Center, and
Conquering Ego
One effect of consecration is that it
moves us to a deeper center, culminating
in the psychic being, where our view of
things is harmonic, inclusive, a oneness
with all and everything; where there is
an inner beatude and love for others,
which has the effect of conquering Ego
and its separative nature in all its
forms.

After Sri Aurobindo found the psychic
being, man has got the responsibility to
consecrate every movement of his life to
the Divine. It will speed up the process
of evolution and it will relieve mankind
from the ignorance and darkness.

RP: Several questions: Why does His
discovery create this responsibility for
us to consecrate every movement of our
lives? Because His discovery forged an
opening to our True Self, though which
consecrated efforts will produce the
greatest results? Because His discovery
created a greater opening to the
supramental power, which is what the act
of consecration opens to?
It is clear that is discovery of the
evolving Soul can speed up the process
of evolution. In fact, Karmayogi says
that the evolution of the universe, of
Creation is accomplishment through our
individual and humanity's realization of
the Psychic Being.
NR: You are right Sir. As Sri Karmayogi
pointed out, every individual's
evolution through the evolving soul
necessarily become one with the
universal soul in the process of
reaching the supermind. The process is
consecration and that is a shift without
expecting any result from our point of
view. The result we are getting is the
divine's boon. That is brahma jananam.
Our part there is to enjoy that Anandha
without any calculation.
RP: Yes, I think I now understand. As we
consecrate, we increasingly forge a link
within that enables the Divine process
you describe. Thus His discovery of the
Evolving Soul enables us to go there as
well (through consecration), allowing
the spiritual and supramental evolution
and transformation of individuals and
life on earth to occur. Therefore,
constant consecration is naturally
demanded of us!

The charm of life is not struggle and
desire; otherwise boredom. That is what
creates pain. The charm is seeing the
infinite inside and the spiritual power
without that when evoked eliminates
struggle for economic existence, desire
for things, etc. bringing instantaneous
miraculousness instead, and thus
ecstatic joy that is the opposite of
monotony and dullness.

Beyond Positive and Negative to

We can rise above the normal way of
progress through positive and negative,
to the Pure Positive by raising our
consciousness and opening to the
spiritual Force. There the Supramental
power helps forge a New Reality, a new
type of Human Existence, culminating in
a Divine Life on Earth. There,
creativity and diversity comes not
through shades of dark and light, but
through discovery and experience of
infinitely-variable, never-ending forms
of creativity, harmony, and bliss.

Non-reaction. Consecration also forges a
Deeper Self so Non-reaction and other
higher movements of consciousness

Consecration with Aspiration for Divine
Increase Consecration through Greater
Aspiration
No one can easily practice consecration
all of the time, or in all sorts of
ways, or with continued great intensity.
We each have our threshold. In some
areas we find it easy; in others, it is
more difficult. The same with its
frequency and intensity. Of course, we
can always take it to the next level. If
the Aspiration is truly there for
connection with the Divine (and if
necessary with a desire to attain
certain of its aspects (e.g. peace,
knowledge, power, presence, etc.), then
we will tend to spontaneously engage in
consecration more often, through new
approaches and with greater fervor.
That's why Aspiration and Consecration
go together. We can gradually build it
up self-offering to the Force if we
aspire to be closer to the Divine, and
less to our ordinary, repeating ways.
Aspiration Plus Consecration is Method
of Bringing Spiritual Attributes to Life
Aspiration is the will for the Divine
and all Its attributes (Peace, Harmony,
Knowledge, Goodness, Power, Beauty,
Love, Bliss, Timelessness, Infinity,
etc.) to be realized on earth.
Consecration, i.e. our constant
surrender to the Supramental Force, is
the means to bring it about. What then
is our level of Aspiration and
Consecration?
Balancing Intention, Detachment, and
Consecration
The balance between our deepest aspirations and not
being attached to it is one of the great
keys for the spiritual aspirant, or for
that matter anyone; which is resolved by
the attitude and feeling of
self-offering to the Divine, i.e. "Thy
Will Be Done" at every moment.
Constant Consecration, i.e. offering
each activity to the spiritual Force, to
the Divine Mother (as Sri Aurobindo
advocates for devotees) makes this much
easier. Personally, this is increasingly
the modus operandi of my life.
Everything then works out as it should,
and the attitude is kept positive, as
the focus is on the Divine Intent, not
one's own, even as we make the effort to
achieve our goal(s) in the work.
Determination vs.
Free Will
Reconciling Cosmic Intention and Free
Will through Consecration
"When we are destined for something
which is willed by the Divine then
whatever route we take will surely lead
us to the Divine." (Durga Karthik)
Sri Aurobindo and Appa have addressed
such things along these lines: How do we
reconcile Destiny and Free Will? I.e.
some cosmic determination vs. our free
will to be who we choose to be. The
answer is that within the Determination
of the Divine, we have free will. Though
the Divine sets things in motion, we
have the free will to cooperate (or not)
with its unfoldings in life. As the
Divine converts in Real Ideas and
Possibilities into creation to become
manifest realities, we have the ability
to collaborate with that cosmic
Intention, that ray of Idea Truth.
The more receptive we are - through our
spiritual aspiration, sincerity,
humility, self-givingness, faith,
withholding the negatives, etc. -- the
more we can become a clear instrument of
that which the Divine wishes to manifest
through us (for our own growth and that
of the world around us).
Karmayogi offers a short cut reconciling
method, which is constant Consecration.
Consecration (plus the rejecting of our
negatives tendencies) reconciles the
apparent contradiction between Cosmic
Destiny/Intent and our own Free Will.
Through Mother's Force and self-control
we make the conscious choice to become
ripe, active, dynamic instruments for
Divine Will to manifest on earth. Our
(free) will then expresses by doing
those things that Mother requires of us
so that we can become instruments of one
or more rays of Real Ideas to manifest
on earth. We thereby become vehicles for
certain cosmic determinates, spiritual
aspects (peace, harmony, knowledge,
goodness, love, timelessness, etc.),
various human values to manifest on
earth.
The Divine and our Own Intention are
then reconciled and melded into one
magnificent thing.
Difficulties in Consecrating
Taking Obstacles in Right Spirit and
Consecrating Them
Life normally contains a steady stream
of obstacles. Taken in the right spirit,
we grow in consciousness. When we also
offer each to the divine Force, then
every challenge becomes an opportunity
for infinite-like success and delight.

Benefit to Divine from an Act
Surrendered
An act once surrendered has only one
outcome, success for The Mother. This is
a knowledge of the soul. (Sri
Karmayogi).
Comment: So we not only benefit from a
consecrated, surrendered act, but so
does the entire universe, and the
transcendent Will and Purpose. This is
perceived from our deepest elf.
Consecration and Others
Introducing Others to Consecration
Q: What is the best way to introduce
people who are suffering and are
ignorant of consecration, without
seeming condescending?
A: Constantly consecrate yourself, and
one way or another they or others will
be attracted to you, your interests, and
your spiritual methods.
Boundaries of Consecrating, Praying for Non-Devotee
One thing I have seen over the years is
that as a devotee one can pray for the
well-being of another who is not or not
fully a follower, such as one who is
sick or having serious problems. It will
work, but sometimes only up to a point.
After a while, the non-devotee may have
to resort to calling Mother on their own
providing they have an inkling in this
direction. Then their serious problems
can be permanently removed. In other
words, they may need to take up the
inner effort to make the connection so
Her Force can continue to act and life
to fully respond. This is just one
aspect of the wider issue raised in this
thread.

Consecrated Results
Forgetting Wonderful Results of Our
Consecrated Effort
Often we fail to acknowledge or we
forget how wonderfully or perfectly
things went after we consecrated the
activity.
Earlier Thoughts
on Consecration
We would like
to thank Mother's Service Society for the following thoughts
related to consecration:
-Catch yourself at the
moment of the greatest excitement. Consecration at that moment is great.
Consecration of the excitement itself is momentous.
-When through consecration you
transform an irresistible impulse, it turns into overpowering spiritual
Force.
-Consecration yields the
final result in the beginning.
-Consecration is the
process of relating nature to spirit.
-A powerful beginning of consecration is possible only when the WILL is stronger than the urge for thought or sensation. -Consecration is to direct the act one is undertaking towards the intention of the Divine. -Consecration is made possible in the measure Mind is able to accept the results according to [the Divine Will], in the measure desire is dissolved and in the measure the body is willing not to insist on the habit.
-Consecration
of a problem or an issue is not so difficult as the consecration of its
details. Even when the main issue is consecrated, the details may defy
consecration. This requires a more detailed faith.
Access the Force to Enable Our Ultimate Transformation
For those who wished to undertake the effort, Sri
Aurobindo laid out a path from our current human functioning to a new
evolutionary spiritual-based functioning; rooted in this new supramental
consciousness aspect of the Divine, God. Instead of merely opening to
the Force to bring about sudden, abundant life response, one could also
open to it to totally transform our mental, vital, and physical nature
into their higher counterparts.

Life Coming to
You
You know
that you are on the right path when life is constantly
moving toward you with benefit; instead of your having to
struggle and go after it to bring about results. For
example, you are taking an action on a project and suddenly
realize it is much easier to accomplish than you had
thought; or that a powerful shortcut is now available,
dramatically reducing the necessary work and effort; or that
there is now a startling new opening and possibility you had
not noticed before. That is life coming towards you, instead
of your going after it, indicating one's higher
consciousness is at play; that you are on the very best and
right path.
The guru
sits on the mountaintop, aspiring for outer conditions
without making the least outer, physical effort to make it
occur. Individuals of significance come to him without his
invitation, and bring word of good or great fortune. In
other words, he draws the best of life toward him from
within.
Tip: aspire for certain thing to come to you in life without
taking any outer action. Also, offer that matter to the
spiritual Force available in the atmosphere. Then watch for
results over time. Remarkable outcomes will present
themselves in short order, as life moves toward you, not the
other way around. It is the power of a concentrated will
carried forward by the highest consciousness that brings
life to your doorstep.
