Silent Will
When we restrain ourselves from expressing a thought and withhold it from the conversation, the thought seems to gathers a power in the atmosphere, and actually gets expressed by the other person.

Power of Withholding Thought
The power that comes from withholding a thought is greater than expressing it.

Silent Will
Silent will is to refrain from speaking out a thing, which causes the other person to speak it first.

Silent Will Power

When we restrain ourselves from expressing a thought and withhold it from the conversation, the thought seems to gathers a power in the atmosphere, and actually gets expressed by the other person.

Withholding Ideas Causes Others to Speak It
A desired result is determined by the energy of the Act. Withholding expression of an idea that you would like another to embrace, energizes the act, causing the other to take hold of it, and express it out loud in speech, as if it were their own. This is an example of the theory of the energy of effectuation. (Paraphrase of MSS)

Silent Will
Thought travels in the atmosphere. It enters into our mind and expresses itself. When we, out of silence, deny that thought expression, the dynamism or personality of the thought insists on expression. So the thought expresses itself through someone else. (MSS)

Withhold Speaking in Conversation Attracts Significant Results
When you withhold speaking what is on your mind in a conversation, you learn of things that are of immense value, making your original though seem trivial. E.g. A salesperson who was very technically knowledgeable, verbose and somewhat successful practiced the discipline of letting the customer initiate every conversation. When he did so, his sales doubled within a month. It is the power of silence and Silent Will.

Levels of Silent Will
Silent Will not only originates from withholding speech, but of withholding emotion, intention, initiation, broadcast knowledge, even subconscious intent.

Silent Will, Allignment, and Beingness
When our intention for something which we can express through words is withheld, an energy builds up which moves out to the other person, which they experience in their atmosphere. They then feel compelled to speak it out, as if it were it were their own. That is what I call Silent Will.

It is also true that when we withhold expression of something, our intention aligns with theirs, as in the incident above. Our movement toward higher consciousness -- in this case by being still -- takes us out of the limited individual domain and opens us to the universal one. At that plane, there is alignment that is instantaneous, miraculous-like, and beneficial to our person.

There are many spiritual dimensions, from Wisdom to Harmony to Love to Beauty. There are others as well. Perhaps the primary one is pure Beingness -- i.e. coming into being. It is also called Existence, which expresses as stillness or Silence. It is there that we have what can be called a Witness Consciousness. We silently observe life, but do not move, or initiate. If we have intention, we still do not move. By doing so life moves for us instead. It uses our silent invisible, willful energy and creates results for us that return as sudden good fortune. Therefore, from within, from pure being, we can create the entire universe; just as the Divine did when It imagined and manifest a cosmos of forms out of Itself from utter Stillness.

Planes Silent Will Can Express
Silent will belongs to the four planes -- physical, vital, mental, spiritual -- or can be assigned to levels 1 to 9. It also divides itself into successful as well as failed ones. In addition to it, we can assign some to subtle and causal planes. Silent will includes the opposite vociferous demands. They too succeed or fail. It is possible to bring all actions under silent will.

On Silent Will

Silent Will is to withhold expressing a thought, which causes it to circulate in the air, and then be picked up by another person, usually, though not necessarily in close proximity, who then shortly thereafter expresses it as if it were their own.

Silent Will

Each time you hold back from asserting your own point of view, the other person reinforces it for you. It is the power of Silent Will.

Power of Silent Will & Energy

What is the definition of Silent Will? It is an act of Will that is held back from outward verbal expression. When the person who forms a Will holds it back from expression, the energy contained in that Will-formation does not stay still. It tries to express itself in some other way very much like water that is blocked in its movement tries to go forward in some other way. So the energy contained in that Will tries to express itself thru another person in the surroundings area who is receptive as a channel. If let us say the person A who wants to make a request to person B refrains from making his request, the blocked energy tries to express itself thru B if he happens to be receptive. So if A had wanted to ask B for some loan but refrains from asking, the energy contained in that desire enters B who is prompted to ask A "Do you want to tell me anything. You look like you want to tell me something. Come on, what is it? Do you want help, financial or otherwise?. When prompted by B in this manner then A can freely ask for the loan and get his wish fulfilled. (N. Asokan for MSS)

Power of Withholding a Helpful Knowledge

When you refrain from relaying a knowledge that would be helpful to them -- knowing full well that silence compels life to strengthen that truth -- soon after that person will be acting on that very thing on their own. E.g. one man refrained from conveying the fact that new jobs were suddenly available in the healthcare field, only to see the other person suddenly applying for such a job, even though she had not taken any related action in months. It is an example of the power of "Silent Will;" i.e. refraining from speaking out one's thoughts.

Benefit of Restraining What You Intensely Want to Express

What you intensely want to express should be held back and restrained. It enables you to store an enormous amount of energy that will attract future success.

Effect of Withholding vs. Taking Credit

When you refrain from taking credit for the achievement of a work, bigger accomplishment follows. One's humility (an expression of non-ego) retains the positive force/energy, enabling it to expand, widening the attraction.

It also works the other way; i.e. when an ego-movement withers or even cancels the chance for widening success. You can frequently observe both movements in athletics, where the right or wrong response by someone or the group amplifies or cancels an ever-widening achievement.

Practicing Silent Will when Consecrating for Another

When another individual consecrates one of your problems, and does not express that fact to you, you will tend to spontaneously consecrate the problem as well, producing a sudden positive outcome. In essence, their Silent Will compelled you to open to the Force, which in turn resolves the issue.

Withholding Broadcast of Discovery
One's discovery gains more power to affect others by withholding its broadcast.

Not Initiating as Silent Will
When you refrain from giving someone more details, out of concern for his time or well-being, he asks for it thereafter nevertheless. It is an example of the process and results of not initiating; or of withholding speech of thought.

Non-Initiating as Silent Will
Not taking initiative is Silent Will in the Physical.

Types of Silent Will

  • Silent will can be graded as:
  • Rising will inside becoming silent will;
  • Will unable to rise out of circumstances or character;
  • Partially expressed silent will;
  • Subconscious will observed as a silent one; unperceived subconscious will; perceived subconscious will'
  • Intended silent will escaping in speech involuntarily;
  • Another's silent will acting through one;
  • Life is will acting in us as Silent one.
  • What was once prominent and now forgotten acting as Silent will;
  • Silent will speaking the very opposite or completing the opposite;
  • There are serious issues that occupy the mind. Silent will with respect to that makes one forget the issue.

  • There are most serious issues that never come to the surface of the mind. Here even the will is missing. Silent will has a role even here. Try to find examples from the story.

Silent Will and Life Response
Experience tells us that when you refrain from expressing an idea or your intentions through speech, the other person will express what you held back shortly thereafter. When we restrain ourselves this way, the atmosphere around us gets charged with concentrations of mental and vital energy, which then penetrate another person's consciousness, causing them to identify with the idea, which then compels them to speak it out as if it were their own.

-A writer wanted to interview several executives at a major US company for a book he was writing. His contact there at first refused his request. The writer was about to describe several reasons why he should be able to meet with the staff, but instead restrained himself and held his tongue. A moment later, the contact suddenly began to describe several reasons why it would be useful for the writer to meet with the executives, and then actually gave him permission to do so!

-A thinker was having a discussion with another thinker. Ideas moved back and forth very swiftly. At one point, the first person decided not to express an interesting idea of his as an experiment in Silent Will. Several moments later, the second person expressed the very idea that the first person had earlier held back.

-A consultant, attending a meeting, restrained himself from joining a small discussion group where he had hoped to engage one of the individuals on an important topic. After the meeting ended, and the consultant headed to the subway station to go home, the very person he wanted to speak with suddenly appeared along side him. Over the next hour, they engaged in the very conversation that the consultant longed to have.

Silent Will Power
A powerful way to see the principle of inner-outer correspondence in action is by practicing a simple but profound technique that we call "Silent Will." If instead of expressing your thoughts to another person, you withhold it and remain silent, shortly thereafter, the other person will express the very thing you held back. Consider this experience of a colleague of ours:

A business management author and consultant was seeking an interview with high officials at a very large corporation for a book he was writing. However, when he presented the reasons for meeting the officials, he was rebuffed by the contact person. The writer then thought of additional arguments to persuade the contact to allow him to meet with staff members. However, instead of expressing these thoughts, he remembered the principle of Silent Will, and withheld their expression. A moment later, the contact person began expressing the very thoughts that were on the mind of the author! Even with this encouraging development, the writer still remained silent. Subsequently, the contact person completely reversed his point of view to the point where he acknowledged the great benefit of the writer's undertaking. In the end, not only did the writer secure the interviews he longed for, but years of fruitful business association between the author/consultant and that very large corporation followed.

That is the power of Silent Will to move the outer world from within. It is but one indicator of the infinite capacity of our inner consciousness to move life outside ourselves. However, we can take it even a step further. If one knows how to, one can even change the outer without taking any physical action at all! Consider this powerful tale of the East:

Practice of Silent Will
Practice of Silent Will can get work done more quickly than open communication.

Silent Will Attracts Positive Life Response
When we restrain ourselves from expressing a thought and withhold it from the conversation, the thought seems to gathers a power in the atmosphere, and actually gets expressed by the other person, or otherwise invokes positive life responses.

LIFE RESPONSE EXAMPLES
-A researcher could not make any headway to get an executive in a major company to allow interviewing principles in company. He practiced silent will, and the other person suddenly changed his mind.

-A manager witnessed a great dispute and agitation between the workers and other managers with the owner. Instead of reacting the manager remained very calm. A bit later the owner had a great problem with a little child who was ill. The manager helped arrange financing for an operations, which had a successful result. That led to excellent relations among all the parties, and great gratitude by the owner for the manager.

-One man did not press a conversation with an important contact in a crowd of people having discussions, only to find 10 minutes later that the man was standing alone next to him very conveniently making it possible to now have the conversation he originally longed for. The result was an excellent discussion.

Withholding a Compulsion Attracts ("Silent Will")
One man did not press a conversation with an important contact in a crowd of people having discussions, only to find 10 minutes later that the man was standing alone next to him very conveniently making it possible to now have the conversation he originally longed for. The result was an excellent discussion. Principle: If you withhold something that compels you to act, you will shortly thereafter be in a position to gain what you're been after, as others come to you or life otherwise responds positively to your benefit. It is like a magnetic attraction of your within to the universe's without. In our terminology we call this the power of "Silent Will."

Withholding Expression of Security Concerns on Project
I spoke to someone who was concerned about the security of a program we were developing. I assured him that we would address that issue, and put in security at many levels of the application. He was convinced in part.

I then wanted to convey this issue to my partner in the project. We had not discussed this issue before in any way. However, I decided to forego communicating my concern. The next morning I received an email in which he described a new dimension of the program that delighted me. But what was extraordinary was how in the new storyline he sent, he included important points about the security of the user.

By withholding expression of my concern, he picked it up in the atmosphere, which compelled him to express it in his new document. Or to put in another way, by refraining from physically initiating through an email, his interests and mine aligned, which I then experienced as a life response outcome. It is one form of the principle of ''Silent Will.""

Consciously Abridging Time
Because I had problems with Internet communication on my computer the other day, I had a little extra time on my hands. I then thought that rather than waste it, why not take care of one of the items on my long-term agenda -- upgrading the memory on my computer.

When I arrived at the service area at the local electronics superstore, I was greeted by four individuals in line ahead of me. Though that might not seem so bad, consider the fact that they were there to have their laptop computers serviced, and at the time, there were only two technicians on duty. Since each customer took ~15-20 minutes to service, I was looking at a half hour or more wait. I had been on this slow moving service department line before, and I had seen the look on the faces of the people ''patiently" waiting. Well this time it was no different, as the person in front of me had that same silent, but frustrated look.

Because I had lost landline DSL connection to the Internet, I was forced on that day to use a wireless Wi-Fi connection at McDonald's and Starbucks. Now as I stood in this slow moving line, I thought that rather than stand around nervously for half hour waiting for my turn, I could make use of the wireless service that might be available in the store. And so I pulled out my computer from its case, and awakened it from sleep mode. I then discovered that a free Internet connection was indeed available in the store. However, when I tried to connect to that Wi-Fi service, it did not work. And yet when I put the computer back in its case and looked around, I noticed that the line in front of me had suddenly moved two spaces. That normally would have occurred over 15 minutes, but instead it happened in fewer than 5. I then understood that because I shifted my attention away from the ''problem" of the line, life responded and moved it along overcoming the duration of time.

Now I sensed I was in one of those moments where I had the presence of mind to overcome and master life's conditions. Taking that cue, a moment later I made the conscious decision to give up all concern about the lengthy wait. As a result, the line moved again two places in less than 5 minutes. When I was then called to be serviced, I had in essence been served in less than 10 minutes, when it would ordinarily take 30 or more.

When I first explained my need to the technician, he said that the added memory could be installed within two or three hours. I thought that was too long, and asked him if it could be done sooner. Sensing my time constraints, he then said his tech people could do it in 45 minutes. I thought that was fine. I could after all go out to get something to eat and return in the allotted time.

He then told me it would cost around $140 for 1GB of memory, which was the maximum additional amount my computer could hold. After filling out the paperwork, I was prepared to leave, but then stopped myself from assuming that our communication was over. As a result, I held my ground and waited for him to speak. He then proceeded to tell me that if a technician didn't return within the next ten minutes, he would install the memory himself. I naturally accepted this new course of action.

Now sensing that time was disappearing before my very eyes, I again held myself back from rushing off. He then said he wanted to check the memory configuration in my computer before he did the work. After a quick check, he told me that the computer would only take a 2gb chip, not a 1gb one, though either way it would only add 1gb of usable memory to the system. For a moment, I thought that would mean that the price would now double, but he surprised me by saying that it would cost less for the 2gb chip because it was on sale! Thus, my bill now went down by nearly $50, despite the fact that I used a bigger chip. In the back of my mind, I thought that small wonders were rapidly accumulating through my conscious effort.

When I then finally went off for the allotted 10-minute period, I came upon and watched a beautiful video on one of the flat-panel TVs called 'Above California.' When I arrived, the film was just showing my favorite spot in the state -- Mt. Shasta, the 13,000-foot snow-capped cylindrical peak in the north. I saw that as a good omen now, even as I have often thought of Shasta peak as a symbol of ultimate aspiration in life, including my own. Feeling light, lilting, and joyous because of all these events, I then returned to the technician who was in the process of completing the installation for me. At that point, I did not want to force the conclusion of the transaction, for I knew that right inner attitude could attract additional small miracles.

A few minutes later, the transaction was completed and I got the additional memory that would speed up my computer. In addition, I was equally happy because a potential half hour or more wait in line had been cut by over 75%; that an originally proposed 2 to 3 hour installation was reduced to a mere 10 minutes; and that my bill was substantially reduced from the original quote. I clearly perceived that it had all happened because I made conscious use of time through efforts of inner detachment, calm, and patience at various points along the way. It was a powerful reminder that if we make use of our inner power, time will shift from being an obstacle and adversary to becoming an ultimate instrument and ally.

Silent Will's Effectivity and Efficiency
Silent will gives the surface consciousness the total effectivity of the subconscious which is seen in the instinct of the animal. Silent will can make the thinking man as efficient as the unthinking animal. Silent will is the transition from the vital instinct to mental instinct. (MSS)

Silent Will in a Business Situation
Suppose you are shifting your factory and the engineers, by their best efforts, have planned to do it in six months and some experts have saved two weeks out of it, you have a good occasion to practise SILENT WILL. The work is divided into six or ten categories. Each category subdivides into two or three parts. Each such part will split into forty or a hundred steps. If you are the CEO or the owner, go through each of these categories, parts and steps mentally. You will be surprised to see new ideas arising in the mind. Maybe five and a half months can still be reduced to five months. Do not speak out your thoughts. Be SILENT. The shifting will be done in four months. You can go further. Don't dwell on it in your mind. It will be inner silence. Every thought you have not expressed will be expressed by someone and get incorporated in the project. It is very powerful. Outer circumstances will be dramatically changed. The 5 months or 4 months will be reduced to four weeks. SILENCE is powerful. It achieves what cannot be achieved. It strengthens Efficiency. (MSS)

Process of Silent Will
In Silent Will we see a thought afloat in the atmosphere. (None of us are able to see it). We KNOW it to be our thought. Knowing it to be our own thought, naturally we seek to express it for effectivity. Our understanding is our thought will be heard, its value understood and acted upon only when WE express it. We are completely oblivious of a subtle fact witnessed daily in all our experiences that a thought expressed readily meets with its opposite. A thought expressed by one is an opinion, not a thought. An opinion is part of a thought. One opinion naturally meets with another opinion, usually its opposite. A customer who enters a shop meets a salesman as they are complements or correlatives. Don't we do it all the time? The ego entirely loses sight of this phenomenon. The truth is a thought is afloat in the atmosphere. We are one point of reception. The other is another point of reception. Either of us receives one part of the whole thought while WORK receives the whole thought and completes itself. This needs two things, patience and silence. Both are merged into non-initiative. We call it Silent Will. Silence on our part allows the whole thought to be received by the work or allows our opinion to be received by the other person. Thus work is completed. (MSS)

Silent Will Expressing in Third Person
A thought finds expression in us or when denied, expresses through another person with whom we are dealing. If it finds denial in both places, a third person present there or elsewhere expresses it. At this point, the thought is free to travel horizontally trying to find expression or deepen itself into emotion or action or even rise into pure SILENCE of the higher mind. (MSS)

Thoughts Meet with Opposition, So Take to Silent Will
In Silent Will we see a thought afloat in the atmosphere. (None of us are able to see it). We KNOW it to be our thought. Knowing it to be our own thought, naturally we seek to express it for effectivity. Our understanding is our thought will be heard, its value understood and acted upon only when WE express it. Silent Will as Policy
Silent will is effective even as a policy. Before your boss, if you do not have the temerity to speak out your wish, even that becomes Silent will and the boss exactly proposes to do what you have not had the courage to ask for. (MSS)

Silent Will
Several important issues are not mentioned in "The Secret''. We learn as children that when you make a wish, it is better not to speak about it to other people. That modern folklore is based on a profound truth of life. Speech is an act that consumes energy in the process of giving expression to a thought. Each time we speak about our goal to others, we are throwing out energy that can be better conserved as fuel for accomplishment. Silence is powerful. Silent will is more powerful than will expressed in words. This is especially true when we speak about our aspirations to others who may feel jealous or threatened by our accomplishment. In addition, when we speak about our intention of a great accomplishment, it is very difficult to prevent the ego from deriving pleasure or sense of importance from the communication. When we take pleasure merely in talking about an accomplishment, that sense of satisfaction saps our energy and we end up only talking about it, never accomplishing it. Pride, satisfaction and contentment with what we have are inimical to higher accomplishment. Of course, there are times and people to whom speaking of our goal is appropriate or even essential. Speaking to those who have intense goodwill for us will magnify the power of aspiration. Speaking to those whose consent or cooperation is essential is necessary to avoid conflicts later on. Therefore, most spiritual disciplines advise practitioners not to speak about their experiences to other people, except to the guru whose guidance and support is essential for accomplishment. (MSS)

Silent Will vs. Consecration
Consecration and Silent Will are different. The former issues from an active Force, the latter from a position of stillness within, a Witness consciousness if you will. It is of the Being.
