Sri
Aurobindo and The Mother have given the world a vision of a new
human existence based on the power of the Spirit. Unfortunately, few have understood
it, including those passionate and sincere individuals who have written
extensively on their works, as well as many of their devout followers. Much of what has been
written are either tired rehashes that contain little insight or
originality, or limpid interpretations based on the narrow view of the
Indian spiritual tradition. Thus these interpretations -- what few there
are -- lack the profundity, dynamism, and utter modernity that spring from
the breakthrough, radical spiritual thought of the Master and the Mother.
So
here at the New Insights site, we are trying a different approach; one
that could be called "an experiment in
consciousness." Our mission has been to return to the source materials
of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother,
penetrate what they have said, extract core principles, and then develop it into a
coherent teaching and body of work. For example,
we have gone back to Sri Aurobindo's epic and profound treatise on the
nature of existence,
The Life Divine,
have taken it apart and explained it chapter-by-chapter, straining to
elicit all of its salient points. We have then gone a step further and
showed how these profound inner principles can be applied in a practical
way in our daily lives, so we can be the very instruments who help
humanity progress toward what Sri Aurobindo calls a "Divine Life on
Earth."

The Mother
|
This is
no ordinary effort because their lives represent and in their written works
are expressed, levels of consciousness that no other human has ever experienced before;
and is, in fact, often at times alien to much of the spiritual tradition
of the East, not to mention the West. And because their
experiences are often captured in a heretofore unknown "language of the
infinite," we are asked to change our mental and spiritual reference
point, and adopt an entirely new framework for what we mean by "spirit,"
"life," and "human transformation." ep
Fortunately, we have had the resources of Mother's Service Society
to help us with this task. These pioneering original thinkers and
practitioners of Their spiritual ideals, have been studying,
breaking down, dissecting, and reexplaining the Master's and the Mother's thoughts
and experiences
for over thirty years. This has made it much easier to understand Their
spirit-based rationale, logic, truth, and wisdom. In addition, MSS has gone the extra step of applying
their knowledge and their own spiritual experiences to various fields of life, including personal growth and transformation
(yoga), literature, history, science, education, business, economics, and social
development, amongst others. This creates a freshness in their insight that no standard analysis
of the Master and the Mother could ever provide.

Our goal
then is to not only to absorb and summarize Sri Aurobindo's and The
Mother's deepest insights and profoundest experiences but to think
creatively and to try to apply their wisdom to the way we live
our every-day lives. We are trying to mine their knowledge, even as we creatively and
dynamically apply them to the realities,
problems, situations, and challenges of our daily existence. By doing so,
we are attempting to extend vast and sometimes difficult-to-comprehend Truths into
the practical fields of life, so that the infinite potentials of life in
all domains, in all fields can be released. For if we cannot use such Wisdom in a
practical way, then we only perpetuate the chasm that exists between knowledge
-- even spirit-based knowledge -- and its useful application.
Our aim then is
to bridge two seemingly incompatible worlds; i.e. bring the Spiritual
Reality and Being into the moment-to-moment Becoming of our lives --
i.e. the Being into the Becoming -- lifting us from our normal status of
ego, time, and finiteness to a supra-normal status of oneness, unity,
timelessness, peace, power, wisdom, and an ever increasing realizations
of the infinite possibilities of existence. Ultimately, it is really
about the experience of infinite joy and Delight of being, which is the
reason we humans are here in the first place.
Our
specific objectives
for the site are then to --

provide
an overview of their lives and teachings

interpret
their core principles in a way that is easier for the layman to understand
-
apply it to various
fields of life
-
show practical examples
and real world experiences of their application
-
encourage
you to take up their vision in your own lives, apply what you understand
in a practical way so that you can rise to ever-higher peaks of awareness, knowledge,
consciousness, success, and joy
-
invite you to participate in an adventure to bring about a new divine
collective life on earth
In that
spirit, I formally welcome you to an experiment in consciousness
and joy!
