Luck is the consenting atmosphere. (MSS)

What Luck Really Is
Luck is good fortune. We think it is uncontrollable, hence we call it "luck." But luck is not really luck, but rather the result of right consciousness that attracts good fortune to us.

Luck
 We normally think of ''luck" as good fortune; fortuitous circumstances that seems to come on its own without our hand in the matter. But those who have developed their consciousness over time have come to understand that luck is the direct result of who we are and how we act; in particular, those right inner and outer behavior that we take to in our lives.

Luck and Great Fortune
When we normally speak of luck we seem to be referring to a force that is beyond our control. Yet, we have found that one can bring about luck, enabling sudden great fortune to enter our lives.

Luck, Life Response
Luck is life response. It is the outer responding to the inner.

Consciously Evoking Luck
What humans call "luck" is not the conscious evocation of it; but its unconscious form. I.e. it is fortuitous, but unintended. Instead we want to evoke luck on demand -- shifting from the unpredictable luck of ordinary life to the persistent Luck through the conscious, evolved personality. This is the higher form that we can be masters of, and evoke when we so choose.

How then do we create this Higher Luck? The Higher Luck issues forth as a result of the following: a clear idea of what you want to achieve, a great will and determination to make it come about, the organization of the details through strategies, including the adoption and implementation of appropriate values, a full persevering effort that is matched by skills of execution and a supremely positive attitude. To insure the cooperation of life, you offer the matter to the spiritual force. Then you will produce luck, i.e. Life response, i.e. Instantaneous miraculousness.

The Higher Luck
The progress or luck I talk of is not the progress of life or luck as we know in life. It is the progress in life with the higher force and it is the Luck of the higher consciousness expressed in life. (MSS)

What Luck Is
Luck is that power which manages affairs rightly, those affairs which man's initiative mismanages. (MSS)

The Higher Luck
Luck can be consciously created. This is different from our ordinary conception of the term "luck." This is the Higher Luck that we can be masters of and evoke on demand.

Unconscious to Conscious Luck
What humans call luck is not conscious evocations of it; but unconscious. We want to evoke luck on demand, shifting us from the unpredictable luck of man to the persistent Luck of the conscious, evolved personality.

On the Nature of Luck

A reader asked about the nature of Luck, the role of astrology to predict it, and if some have special native capacities to evoke it.

Luck is really just another name for "life response," i.e. good fortune suddenly or rapidly descending on an individual from seemingly out of nowhere. Thus, luck, life response, good fortune, attraction are different names for the same phenomenon.

Moreover, Luck is not a haphazard and random phenomenon, but follows identifiable patterns and principles of life. It is also a subject that has been addressed throughout history -- from the ancient scriptures of the Upanishads to modern works like The Secret.

Then what is the cause of Luck? It is due to a shift in one's consciousness to a higher plane in a moment or circumstance. And that outcome is rooted in the principle of "inner-outer correspondence." It states that life outside ourselves is a reflection of our inner condition. Therefore, if we raise our consciousness in some manner, life quickly responds in kind, as we move in alignment with corresponding positive conditions.

Luck therefore is not what happens serendipitously, coincidentally, randomly, or per chance; but is rather a product of our inner condition in a given moment in time, or over a longer period.

(By the way, this also works in the reverse. When there is a lower or lessening of one's consciousness, we attract ill-fortune -- i.e. we become unlucky.)

Then what about astrology? Can it foresee our Luck, our future fortune? It is true that astrology does have a vast predictive power, especially in its purer forms. And yet we cannot recommend it as a method for future guidance. Rather, we should depend on our own capacity to raise our consciousness and being. We can do so by utilizing subtle methods -- such as practicing non-reaction in the face of intense circumstance, shedding a wanting attitude about others or life, by deeply focusing our intention to accomplish a thing, by being self-giving to others instead of being selfish, and by continually opening to the spiritual Force. Taking up any of these approaches will quickly evoke powerful instances of Luck, no matter what the astrological tables indicate. In essence, our inner psychological and spiritual capacity to raise our consciousness cancels the karma that astrology depends on.

Then what about people who are said to have special power to evoke Luck? Well, it is true that we are each born into this world with different levels of consciousness (knowledge, skill capacity, character, energy, etc.). Some individuals are even said to have an old or ripe soul, while others are known to have a child soul. Natively, the former attract Luck, while the latter have the potential to do so.

Also, those who develop a steady will to develop themselves, inwardly and outwardly, tend to attract good fortune; i.e. evoke Luck into their lives. This is the path or progress open to each and every one of us.

Then there are certain individuals who have a great destiny; who are linked to universal vibrations, and their actions -- psychological and physical -- evoke powerful response from life. Winston Churchill and Bill Gates come to mind.

Finally, there are individuals who have given themselves to a spiritual life, and become instrument of the Divine Grace, evoking super-Luck for themselves and the world. Sri Aurobindo is one example. Through His profound inner, spirit-oriented action he attracted the end of World War II, and then Indian independence on his birthday. Such individuals come to change the world, are vessels of a Higher Will, bringing Luck to the entire world. They are known as "avatars" in some quarters, as they are instruments of evolution of that time and place.

One other interesting aspect of Luck is that it occasionally happens in waves as one goes through what one considers a "lucky period." What would account for this dynamic? It must be because our consciousness has risen to a critical level and tipping point relative to circumstance, which concentrates and releases a great amount of energy, which attracts a plethora of good fortune from a number of quarters. Tracking, measuring, and understanding such bursts of luck/good fortune would make a fascinating study, and would help us evoke waves of Luck of our own.

Finally, we should note that the formation of the universe is itself the ultimate expression of Luck. The Divine concentrated Its Intent and sought/seeks to extend its own Delight, enabling a universe of infinitely variable forms to express that Delight. It is the ultimate stroke of Luck, as life in cosmos emerged with the infinite potential to embody the Divine aspects of Truth, Oneness, Creativity, Beauty, Delight, and Love.

Likewise, we too can follow that same process in our own lives, and evoke good or great fortune. I.e. we can engage in the Process of Creation and Accomplishment in all its aspects -- from envisioning a thing; to organizing the details; to executing it with determination, high skills, and right attitudes; all the while opening to the spiritual Force. That will in turn evoke ultimate Luck for ourselves, as life cooperates from all quarters, fulfilling our heart's desire, and then some.

The Greater Conception of Luck
Luck is the most desirable thing in the world. Luck means great accomplishment. | An accomplishment greater than our conception is considered luck. | There is a luck which accomplishes at the maximum of life's possibilities. | All devotees can aspire for that. |  There is something higher at the level of creating greater, newer possibilities that comes through transformation. Luck and the Adventure
Formula Adventure must be attractive. Attitude towards it must make it successful. The attitude that makes the attractive adventure successful is the FORMULA for unending luck. Luck is the adventure that is charming. Adventure becomes attractive when luck comes to stay. (MSS)

Failure to Avail Opportunities, Luck
Failure to avail of opportunities, i.e. Luck, is one of the perpetual human tragedies. When jobs were scarce to be had one man refused a position he was offered because it was not in his home town. Another leader wouldn't listen to the brilliant opportunity for the organization presented by a subordinate because he was a subordinate. There are endless examples; a number of which if sincere we can present from our own lives. Such reluctances, unwillingness to avail opportunities is pushing Luck away from us at the feast of life. The Way Luck Comes
When Luck comes, first it raises the atmosphere which is seen as an omen. Next, it brings in an opportunity or makes live a dead circumstance. It acts next through a circumstance that is organised or makes up for that deficiency. It delivers the result and if the man is refractory, it compels him to receive through an area of inexperience or ignorance. (MSS)

Successful People Attract Luck
The most successful of people will often say that luck or serendipity was a chief contributor to their success. Actually, they created and attracted that luck. Because of their shifts in consciousness, they evoked sudden good fortune through corresponding elements in space and time. Through their effort, or change in attitude, or increased organization, or inner strength, they released powerful energies that aligned with positive conditions that they experiences as instances of Life Response.

Ways of Attracting Luck

Develop Our Capacities to Create Luck
When we develop our capacities and gain the external cooperation of life we create the conditions for luck; i.e. the propulsion to the next level of achievement, success, and fortune.

How to Create Luck 
"Luck" consists of the following: a clear idea of what you want to achieve, a great will and determination to make it come about, the organization of the details through strategies, including the adoption and implementation of appropriate values, a full persevering effort that is matched by skills of execution and a supremely positive attitude. To insure the cooperation of life, you offer the matter to the spiritual force. Then you will produce luck, i.e. Life response, i.e. Instantaneous miraculousness.

Making Luck Your Never-ending Reality
 We normally think of ''luck" as good fortune; fortuitous circumstances that seems to come on its own without our hand in the matter. But those who have developed their consciousness over time have come to understand that luck is the direct result of who we are and how we act; in particular, those right inner and outer behavior that we take to in our lives.

Then what are the human behaviors that elicit these positive circumstance; that attract luck into our lives? Here are a several key ones:

  • Embrace Life's Conditions -- Accept the work that is before you; i.e. the givens of life, instead of what you want to be doing or working at. When you do, life will immediately respond to that right attitude with startling positive circumstance.

  • Overcome Wanting Attitudes -- Consider any negative feeling, emotion, attitude you have about life, yourself, others, and your work. Then reverse it. As soon as you do, positive conditions will suddenly appear, often from the most unexpected sources. There is no faster way to attract luck into your life!

  • Be Equal During Difficulty -- -- If there is a difficult situation or circumstance that you are experiencing, and you remain calm and equal in those moments, positive conditions will quickly move towards you. In fact, the apparent negative you are experiencing will often quickly turn into a positive. It happens all of the time.

  • Be Self-giving to Others -- At the point that you shift from yourself to the needs and concerns of others, luck will be your companion. When you give up your ego and self-orientation, and look at matters from the other party's perspective; when you show a deep concern for their interests and needs, life will quickly reward you with good favor. It is luck issuing out of harmony, goodwill, and affection.

  • Aspire for Something -- When your mind focuses on a thing, or you develop an intention for something to come about, life quickly formulates that into a living reality. I.e., circumstance conspires to fulfill that aspiration and intent in short order. It is a powerful way to bring luck into your life; i.e., the specific luck you hoped to achieve.

  • Use the Spiritual Force -- If you open yourself to the spiritual Force before engaging in an activity, that act will unfold in the most marvelous of ways. E.g. if before an important meeting, you open to the Force, a starling new development will take shape, or a problem will be cancelled, or a small positive will turn into a much larger one. The more intense your spiritual aspiration during that act of consecration, the greater the result. It is the power of spiritual faith in action.

If you follow one or more of these approaches, luck will be your never-ending reality. Life will shower you with a continuous stream of good fortune, often coming through startling, miraculous-like events. Success, happiness, inspiration, energy, opportunity, and harmony will be your constant companion. Moreover, as a result of these experiences, you will begin to see life from a very different perspective; developing very different views of space, time, causality, and reality. At that point, you will have surely arrived on the shores of a New Way of Living.

Luck Made Persistent through the Development of Personality
Luck is the protective Spiritual energy enveloping one's character and personality to ensure miraculous results life has in store. Invocation of Spirit ensures Luck at once, but slowly helps build character and personality in anyone. Spirit makes one see the existence of luck and shows it is not beyond his reach. But what comes in, comes in to consummate the current work on hand. Thus, it cannot stay. For luck to stay forever, there must be a fabric of personality that retains it. Luck by Changing Our Character
For luck that is elusive to seek us, we should try to change our swabhava (character) that is believed not changeable. (MSS)

Call in Force to Three Aspects of Achievement to Create Luck
There are three essentials for enabling great achievement in life. First, one needs to have a clear aspiration and direction of what one wants to achieve. For that to occur, the details of what we want to achieve must clearly be organized and spelled out. Second we need to gain the sanction and endorsement of our emotions to see our vision through. If our goal is merely an idea devoid of our passion, will, and a decisive inner intension that this is what I really want to achieve, then the results we seek will never come about. Finally, one needs to make the tireless, persevering effort to see it come about. A half-hearted attempt to carry out our vision, will meet with half-hearted or no positive results. If these three elements are in place, then you have created the essential conditions for substantial success in life.

Still great success in not guaranteed, even with this full integrated effort. From your side, you may do all that is right and perfect for achievement, and still might not attain what you had hoped for. This is the case because life may simply not cooperate with your efforts. External circumstances, otherwise referred to as '"events that are beyond our control," can simply cancel our efforts. Such events are considered "luck." Can we not invoke our own luck, and gain the cooperation of life so that our goals are royally fulfilled?

How can we then gain control over life's circumstances; i.e. how can we attract the necessary luck and good fortune of life so that we can achieve our goals and moreso?

The answer is that we need to call on some other power that can gain the cooperation of life; that can create luck for us  Does such a power exist? We believe it does. It is the power to use Spirit in our moment to moment lives. If we call in the spirit just before starting an action or event, we will see thereafter how life wonderfully cooperate, how everything works out smoothly and surprisingly. We will have invoked our own luck into the situation, propelling us to the heights of achievement.

Work Consecrated Brings Luck
Work uncomplainingly consecrating it, and LUCK will seek you.

Grace and Luck
It is Grace that brings luck. Sometimes it comes with ifs and buts. It is Super Grace that brings Luck to us in rounded perfection.

Spiritual Values that Evoke Luck
-Luck is for one who is wedded to Truth.

-Luck comes as great opportunity from outside. A greater luck is what issues from inside as an IDEA.

-A good man cannot escape luck.

-Luck is the ability of GOODNESS which sees the small as great.

-We live our lives as if the world revolves around ourselves. It is built on a foundation of selfishness and ego from which all other problems follow. Therefore, from a true selflessness we can establish the solid base from which all felicity and luck can follow.

-When your heart seeks luck even for your enemy, great good luck enters your life permanently in utter perfection.

-Constant GOODWILL attracts luck from all sides.

-To receive the biggest opportunity through the humblest of attitudes is to invite luck and make it stay.

-Alert resourcefulness is luck in life. Inner humility is Spiritual luck. (MSS, various extracted)

-Luck is humility appropriate to the opportunity.

-Action of a full heart in circumstances that are organised appropriateness is unfailing -- it is initiation into Luck.

-Life becomes luck when the heart expands. 

-The higher knowledge makes for greater discipline. Yogic knowledge of life enables one to follow the highest of disciplines, a discipline that brings LUCK.

Inwards Orientation that Enables Luck
-For one to take the first step in yoga, the inner being should open. For one to be ready to receive LUCK, his outer life should turn inwards.

-Create luck by going in, living there forever.

Luck Comes to the Humble
Luck comes to the humble; who believe they do not deserve it. Luck expressed in ancient times in India, then as science in Europe, but moved away because of its pride and then found technology and science in a more humble America. Now it can move to India to complete it spiritual mission if there is spiritual humility developed there away from superstition. (MSS)
